Bored Posted September 1, 2007 Author Report Posted September 1, 2007 Still haven't heard from Lando Griffin so I'm going to assign Cartman's Saturday picks as replacements if he doesn't submit his picks by tommorrow's deadline.
Guest Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 If Fat Mark can coach Kansas to a victory tonight, I pick up a win to start out. I don't think I've done that before. I don't want to rely on the tiebreaker.
teke184 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 If Ole Piss can hold out against Memphis, I win straight-up. w00t~! bitches. The way things are going, I may have a perfect set of picks today. My only dangerous one right now is BC over Wake. BC's up late in the 4th by a TD.
teke184 Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 While you're not a lock, Mangina's team is up 21-0 near the half. That one will get uglier by the end, just like Fat Mark.
Guest Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 They showed a picture of his face the other day on ESPN when I was flipping channels (I don't watch ESPN unless they're showing a live event, something more of you should do) and I about puked. I could only imagine being on the sideline with him. "Could you run up to concessions and grab me a hot dog? Thanks son, you always understand." And Kansas are up 35 at half, so that's a win. Cool.
CanadianChris Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Today's lesson: NEVER pick Duke. Still an easy win, but I had UConn down on my sheet until the last moment before I submitted it. I also had Wyoming over Virginia for a while, so it looks like I second-guessed my way out of a perfect week.
Danville_Wrestling Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Looks like I'm going to fall on a tiebreaker unless Tennessee and California suddenly go cold on offense.
MFer Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I'm gonna lose, which is pretty fitting considering what happened earlier today.
HarleyQuinn Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I lost this week Although maybe I can salvage some pride if Mexico can win over UTEP.
teke184 Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 12-0, looking for the big sweep if Cal and UTEP win.
Hawk 34 Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Not the best start but I pull a win off with the tie-break.
Cuban Linx Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 12-1 so far with Connecticut & Boston College giving me outright victory in the game of the week, looks like i'll keep a top 3 spot in the rankings.
Secret Agent Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 The two losses I took so far I went back and forth on so many times. Damn my state pride to hell on one of those losses as well. I think I might have won even if UTEP looses as I have the tie breaker.
Bored Posted September 2, 2007 Author Report Posted September 2, 2007 Congratulations to teke184 for becoming the first player ever to post a perfect week in the history of the contest, at least I think so as I can't remember it happening before. I won't bother with posting conference standings until after Week 4. Week 1 Results #3 South Carolina (Cuban Linx) 13, #5 Miami (Spaceman Spiff) 11 #9 UCLA (phoenixrising) 9, #7 Stanford (Bored) 9 - phoenix wins by tiebreak #1 Georgia Tech (iggymcfly) 12, Notre Dame (Lando Griffin/Cartman*) 7 #2 Syracuse (CanadianChris) 12, Washington (Smues) 7 #4 Virginia (Edwin MacPhisto) 12, Auburn (Tzar Lysergic) 11 #6 Minnesota (Vern Gagne) 11, USC (Cartman) 8 Hawaii (Fokai) 11, #8 Oregon (nogoodnick) 10 Nebraska (Mecca) 12, #10 Tennessee (Art Sandusky) 11 Florida (Urban Warfare) 10, Ohio (Will Scarlet) 10 - Urban wins by tiebreak LSU (teke184) 14, Penn State (therealworldschampion) 12 Temple (Ortonsault) 12, San Diego State (the walkin' dude) 9 Texas (UTBroward) 11, Kentucky (Danville Wrestling) 11 - UT wins by tiebreak Miami of Ohio (Hawk 34) 8, Ball State (Vampiro69) 8 - Hawk wins by tiebreak Buffalo (Carnival) 11, Rutgers (the pinjockey) 10 Alabama (AlwaysPissedOff) 11, UTEP (Angel Grace Blue) 9 Oklahoma (Secret Agent) 12, Michigan (MFerXtreme87) 10 Kent State (JHawk) 10, TCU (Nate) 8 N.C. teke184 Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Someone got a perfect week in the last year or two, but I can't remember who. Still, being the 2nd person to do it ever is still pretty damn impressive since I pulled the Wyoming game out of my ass.
Bored Posted September 2, 2007 Author Report Posted September 2, 2007 Welcome to the most anti-climatic reveal of the Bored Championship Series Rankings ever as we know who #1 will be. As always everyone starts with a clean slate and the preseason rankings are irrelevent. If you bothered to read to my first post in the sign up thread you would have noticed that I tweaked the rankings again this year with Win/Loss record now making up 65% of your ranking, Correct Pick Pct. is 30%, and "Strength of Schedule" is now only 5%. Also back this year is the "Other Receiving Votes" category which lists the next four teams out of the Top 10 in alphabetical order. Bored Championship Series Rankings thru Week 1 1. LSU - teke184 1.1 2. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 1.75 3. Virginia - Edwin MacPhisto 2.05 4. Nebraska - Mecca 2.05 5. Oklahoma - Secret Agent 2.6 6. Temple - Ortonsault 2.95 7. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 3.5 8. Syracuse - CanadianChris 3.5 9. Texas - UTBroward 4.15 10. Hawaii - Fokai 4.7 Other Receiving Votes: Alabama (AlwaysPissedOff), Buffalo (Carnival), Florida State (King), Minnesota (Vern Gagne)
Secret Agent Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Woot! After not breaking into any rankings last year this is a good start.
Danville_Wrestling Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Man it sucks going 11/14, getting the big games right, and still losing. I should've known better than to pick Central Michigan since they got blown apart by UK last year but I seemed to have forgotten that when making predictions. I guess if there's any positives to take away from this week it's that I had a decent percentage of correct picks and my loss isn't a conference loss.
Art Sandusky Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I want California to fucking break off and float away. Yeah, the people in it too. Fuck you guys in your stupid ears. Your stupid, stupid ears.
CanadianChris Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 As always, it doesn't pay to win too big.
Guest Vitamin X Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Fuck. Well, at least FCS football got some props today, so that makes me happy. I'm just hoping I can pull off a winning season this year. Came close this week to winning.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I scored 4 times as many points as the actual Virginia team. Nice work, Coach Groh!
