Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 If the Falcons are going to draft a suitable replacement for Vick, they're gonna have to lose as many games as possible. That man should be treated like a hero in Atlanta.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 I guess. But I would have no problems if they brought in Omar Haugabook next year(thus making me the ultimate Falcons homer if they add a Troy QB) and teach him to shake that Farve complex he has. They don't really need a high QB pick to turn the team around. Joey Harrington just won't work. And I am not sold on Shockley, especially after that knee injury this year. The perfect pick would be Brohm, but thats going to take a number one overall pick and I would much rather have a middle linebacker that didn't suck donkey balls instead of a QB. That man should be treated like a hero in Atlanta. The Falcons will certainly have plenty to choose from, as the 2008 draft looks to be loaded with good QB prospects (Brian Brohm, Matt Ryan, Andre Woodson, Chad Henne, Colt Brennan). Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 I personally think its a huge falloff after Brohm and Colt Brennan(although he could be a product of the system). None of the others really strike me as NFL QBs that you could have as your franchise guy. I am not sold on Matt Ryan although if he keeps it up, I could be convinced. And I like Omar because of his athletisim and his cannon of a arm, but he does have that I am going to throw into coverage anyway kind of mentality sometimes when looking for the big play. But he has pretty good accuracy so it works alot. But this is only college ball so who knows. And of course, he plays for the hometown team so....
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 You're not sold on Matt Ryan but you're sold on a Troy QB? Alrighty then...
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 Colt Brennan will blow at the pro level. His semi-side-arm throw won't cut it.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 THERE IS A HUGE FALLOFF AFTER BROHM AND BRENNAN BECAUSE I DON'T SEE ANY OF THE OTHERS AS FRANCHISE QB's. I AM NOT SOLD ON RYAN AS A FRANCHISE QB BUT IF HE KEEPS IT UP, I COULD SEE IT. THUS HE WOULD BE IN THE GROUP OF BROHM, AND BRENNAN. Omar falls into the group of not sold as franchise QB's, seeing as I pointed out the HUGE falloff after Brohm and Brennan...neither of which are named Omar. Hell, if anyone draft Omar I would be shocked. I think he could be a very solid free agent pickup that would fit with the Falcons if they were planning this offense around a mobile QB. I personally don't know if Ryan would be as solid without that monsterous offensive line that Boston College has. It is very rare to see him get hurried in the slightest and his arm doesn't exactly impress me throwing down the field. So with alot of time he would pick you apart on short routes. Of course, how many teams in need of a franchise guy have a great offensive line?
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 The thing with Matt Ryan is that he could easily fall in the later end of Round 1 or in later rounds, where good teams might pick him up. Imagine what happens if say Chicago decided that was it for Rex Grossman? Put Matt Ryan behind Chicago's o-line, and I'm pretty sure he'd do decent enough. Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 Colt Brennan will blow at the pro level. His semi-side-arm throw won't cut it. But it is a lighting fast semi-side-arm throw that is really really deep threat strength. I really see him as doing fine. And the thing with protection though, in regards to Ryan, is that basically any NFL QB is accurate as fuck when they aren't getting hurried, can step into their throw and don't have to watch their for the sack. Being able to put up numbers while not being pressured isn't really anything impressive to me.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 The best play of the week hasn't been mentioned, but it had to be when Kitna ran for eight yards after his own pass was deflected right back to him.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 17, 2007 Ripper, what do you think about D.J. Shockley getting a chance in Atlanta? I know he's out for the year, but do you think he should get a chance for the upcoming season? He would have been great for Atlanta to have this year, I think. Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 Colt Brennan will blow at the pro level. His semi-side-arm throw won't cut it. Don't Rich Gannon and Philip Rivers have a slight side arm throwing style?
Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 Ripper, what do you think about D.J. Shockley getting a chance in Atlanta? I know he's out for the year, but do you think he should get a chance for the upcoming season? He would have been great for Atlanta to have this year, I think. I like DJ. He is very accurate in short yardage, he is not a deep threat passer at all though. Like, he shouldn't go deep unless its a broken play and the reciever freakishly got open. His athletisim and ability to run the ball is nice too, but I wonder how much of that he will get back with that knee injury. He definately was going to start eventually this season, being he is a Georgia product and honestly, because he is black to try and bring back the crowd lost from Vick not being there. But at the end of the day, he has pretty much the same arm strength as Harrington, only he doesn't make about 10 pure retarded decisions per game like Harrington does. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 Well today at work felt like an entire week...it is always like that when my team plays on Monday, but I need to keep my nerves in check because it usually results in an asskicking for my team....LOL. I hope Randel El can exploit whoever is filling in for Lito Shepard..... Run Portis Run..... Defense stop the Big Pass.... Go Skins!!!
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 Apparently McNabb is trying to get Reggie Brown killed out there tonight. And the Redskins should be throwing to Moss at Will James every single play until they stop it.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 The WR was still open if the ball was out on time. I'd still go after him. Only the Eagles could have a RB averaging 10 YPC and avoid giving him the ball as much as possible.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 McNabb is playing like trash, so to compensate you put the ball in Westbrook's hands a whopping nine times in the first half. Brilliant strategery.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 I am so tired of Jaws beating the whole lack of seperation thing to death. Yes, the WRs are having a bad game, but McNabb has been abysmal as well. And an elite QB should be able to put a ball in a small space. No free passes on this offense, except obviously Westbrook. Honestly, right now, I have a hard time seeing how this team beats Detroit next week. They won't get up and down the field with anyone right now. And the defense can only hold for so long before they finally have to crack due to no offensive support.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 Retarded playcalling (w/ rusty QB they go 20 runs (includes 2 McNabb scrambles)/46 passes) + McNabb sucking hardcore for 7 of 8 quarters this year (plus the next to last play tonight, Curtis was wide open, ugh) + throw in a pinch of mediocre Oline play for flavor = offensive ineptitude
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 The worst part is, now I am so pissed I need to burn off steam before I can get to sleep. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2007 Redskins win, barely. Well, it's a division win on the road. I'll take it. Jason Campbell seems to be for real. He is still raw, but he doesn't let mistakes get to him and he seems to bounce back pretty well. I almost had a heart attack when Campbell had a chance to seal the game, and overthrew Moss.......
