Week 3 NFL and Indanap'iss Cotes

Oh for fuck's sake people, the Chargers are 1-2, and their two losses came to pretty good teams, one of which is looking like the best team in the league right now (I'm obviously talking about the Pats, although I wish I could say it'd be Green Bay). They'll be fine, their offense still looks good. I'd compare them to the 2000 Rams if anything. Didn't we all say this would happen, though? They have enough talent that they'd make the playoffs, but not necessarily make much noise there.

The AFC looks like the same ol', same ol'- Patriots, Colts, Steelers. Yawn. The NFC is sorting itself out still.

I'm very happy with the way the Packers look right now. San Diego is still a good team, and the game today was a lot of fun to watch. Also, Nick Barnett had that touchdown on the game-winning interception.

EDIT: Agent's prediction up there reminds me of the time he predicted Iowa to be a dominant force in college football a couple years ago because of their defense. Whatever happened to that.

Pfft, Bears fans.

Hey don't lump me with Agent. I was willing to give Green Bay the credit that they deserve. I thought since Week 1 that Green Bay would win the division, and even thought Green Bay would win this game (as evidenced by me picking them in the KKK contest).

Randy Moss could break every single-season receiving record there is this season. Brady-to-Moss is looking unstoppable.

Today puts Moss at over 400 yards receiving with 5 touchdowns which means he's on pace for about 2000 yards receiving and around 25 touchdowns.

Brady's numbers are fucking ridiculous too. He's up to almost 900 yards passing and has a TD-INT of 10-1 right now.

For people sick of the Brady-Montana comparisons, skip this post.

Jerry Rice's first big season was 1986, when Joe Montana was 30 (though Joe only played 8 games of that season)

With his first year with Moss, care to guess how old Brady is?

Yes, 30. Though I don't think they will have quite the numbers that duo had since Moss is a 10-year vet already while it was just Rice's second season. Still, that's kinda eerie.

I'm a bit perturbed at the Colts' inability to put teams away so far. Last week they got well ahead of the Titans and let them back into it, then this week did the same with the Texans. It's still two road wins in the division though.

D'angelo hall just got two of the most bullshit penalties I have seen.

First he gets a 15 yarder for pressing Steve Smith( he pushed him in the chest after the snap) and then gets another because he and Smith were jawing at each other. That some how lead to a 15 yarder against only him.

That was just BS.

I notice Carr is in for Carolina. Was Delhomme injured, or benched?

It looked like he threw out his elbow on a short pass. Carr is doing a decent job.

And if the signing of Byron Leftwich makes Joey Harrington play like this every week, then fine, sign that fucker long term.

Great game from Joey, mostly because he stopped holding the ball and getting rid of it, and hasn't really been hit all day.

20-27 right now, and those bullshit penalties on Hall look like they very well could be the difference.

Packers and Cowboys left as the NFC's only undefeated teams so far. Bears could change that tomorrow and leave Green Bay in the.. oh my god.. #1 spot in the conference.

Colts, Patriots, and Steelers left as the AFC's only undefeated teams, also. It's like taking a time machine to 10 years ago.

Giants finally win!

If Betts doesn't trip over Justin Tuck on the final play he *walks* in for the tying TD. Whoever blocked Tuck into the ground on that play.. thank you.

Edit: eh, maybe not walked in but it would have been close

And the Hall penalties were indeed the difference. I no doubt expect ESPN to just say Hall lost his cool, but they were two incredibly bad penalties that 1: Gave the Panthers 15 yards on a run play that had been stuffed because Smith got pressed at the line which is illegal now I guess, and 2: it was 4th down after Delhomme got sacked and they gave Hall a 15 yard penalty when Steve Smith followed him out to the secondary and they were jawing at each other.

Ridiculous. They pretty much gave Carolina game, and too bad because Joey actually won over a crowd of Vick jerseys in the process.

0-3 now. Ugh.

I'm happy to see that the most talented WR in the league is performing like it. Everybody thought he was finished for the past three years, failing to realize that he had no reason to play as the team around him was so shitty.

Did anyone see that horrible segment on Moss on ESPN this morning? I really didn't need to see a giant shouting match between three grown men posing as sports analysts on live TV.

So I got off the plane at the airport and I see out the corner of my eye that football is on the TVs and the Packers and playing somebody. Only it isn't the Packers when I take a closer look it's the Redskins, what the fuck were those jerseys? Are those a throwback or something new?

You should see the jerseys the Eagles dragged out of the attic today. I guess since games were either on the radio or black and white TV back then, nobody gave a shit about uniform design.

I'm getting more sold on the Packers with each passing week. As long as Favre doesn't screw things up, they'll be in the mix.

Those are the throwback uniforms from the 1970 and 1971 season, when Vince Lombardi was head coach.

Loved the Bears fans drowning out Andrea Kramer. Sideline reporters need to show one of two things to be worth a damn: actual insight into the game or lots of cleavage. She has neither.
