Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2008 You know how some kids fear coming home from school one day and realizing that their parents have packed up and moved without telling them? Well we should move the entire site somewhere else and tell everyone except Enigmecca, MVP, Truthiness, edgehead69, jericholic82 and PongKong. Things would get a lot better really fast. Dandy 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2008 I like that Dandy took some initiative with the TSM Town Hall thread. Yeah it's just a rip off of "Let's Talk About...", but that's a good thing, not a bad thing. Yeah, the "Let's Talk About.." was exactly what I had in mind, I just wanted to give it a different name and slightly different format. I was hoping there would be discussion as well as answering the 5 questions posted.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Then close it or let it die its way off the page. I don't understand the people who worry about too many threads. It's a discussion folder! OMG, people are talking about too many different things. This has to stop! You know that wouldn't happen if people just paid attention to the threads or looked a few posts up, but I think what happens is when Enigma, Cena's Torn Pec, or Mecca see some new rumors it becomes a race to see who posts the new information first. It becomes worse when a new disussion starts about the news that was just re-posted. Maybe we should just apoint someone to report any rumor/news that comes down the wire and if someone wants to get something like a rumor or news posted, they have to send it to that person first, then that person posts the news/rumors and a discussion starts. One type of thread I want to return to help stop the repeating news is the weekly or monthly reporting of the newsletter or whatever it's called. Then keep all discussion about what's reported in that thread for the month or so. It'd also help if people stopped taking everything thats reported so seriously. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I like the idea of General Discussion for just that - General discussion. There are times you have a comment to make that clearly doesn't warrant a thread (ex. I just posted a story from WWE.com about Vince getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame) but where it's become an issue is TSM Poster X will say "hmm, mid-card / jobber guy was released, that seems thread worthy" just to have it merged and told the guy wasn't important enough to be discussed in their own thread. A lot of the CTDWAT threads have come full circle and gone from being useful places to make mundane comments without cluttering up the forums to black holes of discussion. They have their place but I think it's time mods loosen the leash on them. I know this is about the WWE Folder but the Video Game folder is another great example - from what I gather, Mole decided to just merge or close threads people started about individual games, so now instead of people starting a thread about Mario Galaxy, they make comments about the game scattered amongst other comments in a generic "Wii" thread. Dandy 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I ran this by Al for the WWE folder. He didn't necessarily think it was a bad idea, but wasn't sold on it either. I'm not sure I am sold on it as well, but I was trying to think of something to make the folder a little more enjoyable. What do you think about having a thread for each of the World Titles? I was thinking that current feuds, possible upcoming feuds, fantasy booking, etc. could go there and create just a little less clutter for the CWDWAT. Like I said, it's barely a mediocre idea, but at least its something.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Gotta tell ya... not quite sold on it. I LOVE Al's 24/7 sub-folder though. That shall be my new home.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 It's pointless to do a WWE reclamation project, just like it's failed every other time. General Discussion was a good idea, but then HTQ had a huge boner and decided that general discussion means every discussion and moved everything in there
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I'd say about 80% of Truthiness' posts in the Raw thread irritated me (some irrationally) and I can't stand the stupid way RonL21 formats his posts. Like maybe.. There is some reason he posts like this.. But it's just a bit annoying. (And yes, one of his posts in the Raw thread really were broken up mid-sentence... and what's with just using incomplete ellipses? I'm probably coming off as a grumpy "wet blanket" as Kristianna called me but I figured this was the venting ground).
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 General Discussion is a good idea in theory, but it gets cluttered because no one has the same idea of what warrants a thread and what doesn't. You just have to take it away at this point because it's such a crutch for people. Like right now there could be threads for Wrestlemania XXIV, Observer Notes, WWE.com Industry News and Floyd Mayweather. There's been enough discussion on each of those in the past few days that they could have been broken out and survived, perhaps with more lively discussion. King Kamala 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I've got to admit I'm pessimistic about this reclamation of the WWE folder project. It'll be kind of hard to do when 80% of the posters there stink and most of the good posters here don't watch it anymore. I wish I could help more with this but I don't watch much more (I half watch RAW and see bits and pieces of Smackdown!). And lord does RonL21's posting style annoy me... He was robbed from a spot in the Worst Poster Tournament.... Just robbed.... He could have had Kinetic's spot....
Guest Beastalentier Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Why would anyone bother to do another failed WWE Folder reclamation project? It's hardly even that active because most people here stopped watching wrestling. I'm in favor of wiping out the whole wrestling section and just making it a folder like MMA and sports. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I don't like that idea because it would kill General too, and that's the home of the new 24/7 project.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I'm with Czech. Consolidate all of the wrestling folders into one folder with a series of subfolders. But to truly break free from this place's past wrestling ties, we'd need to change the name. I like the initials, so we could use those as a starting point. How about The Sam Malones: I'm not tethered to that, just brainstorming. The Sensible Masturbator would be another option.
Guest Beastalentier Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I don't like that idea because it would kill General too, and that's the home of the new 24/7 project. Why isn't "WWE 24/7" associated with, um, y'know, the "WWE Folder"
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 I don't like that idea because it would kill General too, and that's the home of the new 24/7 project. Why isn't "WWE 24/7" associated with, um, y'know, the "WWE Folder" Two reasons: 1. The General Wrestling folder contains more quality posters, and was the original home of the 24/7 threads. 2. WWE 24/7 as a service generally contains MANY non-WWE items such as WCW, World Class, ECW, etc.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Just don't bother with the reclamation project. It's a horrible idea that will fail. Even though all the board drama about it in 2004 was great We're not talking an overhaul here. No one is going to start cleaning house, overmodding threads, or any of that nonsense. It's just a few people kicking around ideas to improve quality in general.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2008 Two things: 1. Yes, Ron, it is that bad. 2. Viva la reclamation! I don't see the harm in it. Those that have stated their disdain for the project don't really go to that folder much at all anyway. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Merging the folders will just cause a clusterfuck and possible loss of posters, which might cause Mike to sell the board because it is not as profitable. Not that I'm a fan of Mike's vision of this place or anything, but ya know.
