Hey, What's New In Baltimore? NFL Ravens Week 8 Thread

Sage Rosenfels was a free agent who got zero interest from all 32 teams as a starter for a reason. There is ZERO chance he will take over for Schaub.

Hell, Schaub could barely walk going into the game against the Chargers yesterday and he STILL started over Sage.

If Sage keeps having a better rating and more touchdowns than Shaub while giving you the same amount of turnovers that Shaub is giving you, he will eventually get the nod.

He is simply outplaying Matt.

Let's not forget San Diego sort of just... gave up by the time Rosenfels came in, and Rosenfels still served up a pick.

Yeah, no shit. Lost in all the fawning over his 4 TD 4th quarter against the Titans (against the soft-ass prevent D the Titans were in by that point) was the fact that, in that same game, 3 of his first 5 passes were intercepted. And they were BAD interceptions, too.

But since nobody here actually watches Texans games, they don't realize that. They just see some fancy TD numbers and are instantly impressed.

He isn't outplaying Schaub. Have you actually watched a Texans game outside of the one they played against Atlanta?

Sage's TD's have all been garbage-time against soft defenses. The Titan game looks impressive on paper but when you peel back the layers and realize that part of the reason the Texans were so far behind and facing a soft Titan defense in the 4th quarter was because Sage tossed 3 interceptions earlier in the game to directly set up several Titan scores. His TD yesterday against the Chargers was meaningless. The one he had against Jacksonville was also meaningless as they were losing the game 37-9 at the time.

Trust me. There is ZERO chance of Sage starting over Schaub, barring an injury. It just isn't going to happen. And QB rating is one of the most useless stats in existence.

You are simply making excuses to why the guy is outplaying the other. What is Matt doing that has solidified his hold onto the starting QB position? He is turning the ball over, so is Sage.

Matt has thrown 7 picks to 5 TD's while Sage is throwing 6 touchs to 5 picks(and will definately catch Matt in that department).

Fact of the matter is, Sage is scoring when on the field, Matt isn't. He hasn't thrown a touchdown in the last 4 games. The one he threw in Atlanta was a horrible pass that his reciever caught while falling down through the CB's arms after he missed the pick.

That Tennesse game, I will give you 2 of Sage's touchdowns were against that pretty much prevent D that Tennesse was playing, but you are dreaming if you are saying they didn't tighten back up after that and he still got two more to get them the win. Yes, his numbers got inflated in that game.

And in this new world, apparently defenses don't go for shutouts? There was nothing soft about the coverage in his one touchdown against the chargers. It was just a good play. Proven by the fact that the Chargers didn't give up anything else throughout the game.

Every single knock against Shaub coming into the league appear to still be true.

If he keeps putting up goose eggs they are going to sit him "To rest his nagging injuries that are no doubt affecting his play. But make no mistake, Matt Shaub is still the QB of this team".

Call the stats inflated and his touchdowns nothing, if he keeps producing them when Shaub isn't, he is GOING to get that starting spot.

And I actually agree with you on the Rating stat. It just seems others around here cares about it so I used it. The only stats I care about are wins, turnovers, touchdowns. None of which are looking great for Matt or Sage right now, but at least Sage has the touchdowns.

I don't recall stating that Schaub has been great this year. Mediocre quarterback play is one reason the Texans suck again.

Your argument is that Sage has been better and will eventually be named the starter over him based on merit. All I'm saying is that that won't happen. Schaub is Kubiak's guy and will continue to be so for at least until the end of next year, and Sage's garbage time numbers are one reason given for that (the other big reasons being the three draft picks and big contract they gave up for him).

Witness with David Carr and Tony Banks/Dave Ragone/Sage: the Texans have gone out of their way for 5 1/2 years to avoid anything resembling a QB controversy. That just isn't going to change any time soon.

Oh, great! Brian Urlacher has an arthritic back!

Tony is completely embarrassing himself with his gigantic man-crush on Favre. I also liked how the first replay of the TD pass had to be a 10-second closeup of Favre's reaction.

Yes, I'm really glad I tuned into Monday Night Favre.

Dude, I don't know what you expected.

I really can't wait for Favre's wife to visit the booth. Maybe she'll read another love poem on air like she did during the open.

Where's Rick Dempsey when we need him

Well, when you're 6 of 8 for 118 yards and a touchdown in the first half, it's noticeable.

Also, why is it that every time anyone mentions Brett Favre they have to mention fellatio along with it? Jeez. Does Tom Brady get rimjobs, then?

Let's not go too far here. This is only .85 on the Manning scale here.

You know, for all the hype Vinatieri got (or used to get), Elam has consistently been a clutch kicker for far longer and still continues to perform at the top. Hall of Fame, for sure.
