AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2007 ...or at least horror-themed games. Anyone else typically celebrate by sitting down and playing something a tad on the spooky side? I played through and finished Darkwatch recently (although it's basically a Halo clone with a Western/steampunk veneer and starring a vampire cowboy), am playing a budget title I picked up a while back called Ghosthunter, perhaps go hack up some more zombies in Dead Rising, and plan to sit down and play a good bit of Silent Hill 3, likely. I can't remember what it was called, but it was pretty fun. The Haunting. I'm not a fan of EA games (bar Skitchin') but I really liked Hauting, it was great fun. That game in a prison that I played in 2004 seemed really creepy. I forget the name now, though. Yeah it was called The Suffering. I've been meaning to try it, actually. The Haunting starring Polterguy I believe was the full title of that Genesis game, BTW. Cold Fear had a neat atmosphere about it but it was ruined by the crappiest controls I've ever used for a survival horror game... I thought they were ok (come on, they were way better than the original RE controls!), but it's been a long time since I played it. If you're thinking about the right game it was like "Resident Evil 4 on a boat," right? Reading up on Ghosthunter brought up a lot of discussion about The Suffering, so while I probably won't be playing it today, I'm interested in trying it soon. I may also want to revisit Second Sight. Playing as the marine, nothing is quite as frightening as watching your motion sensor go off like a malfunctioning pacemaker and not being able to see what's doing it. It was the first PS game I played that really used the stereo sound effects, and I was playing it really late at night. Perfect scary game. If you're thinking about the right game it was like "Resident Evil 4 on a boat," right? Yah that's the one. I just couldn't get used to how wonky the aiming system was. Then again, I also hate games like Hitman and Splinter Cell for shit like that too. I only played the first level of Cold Fear before I took it back to the rental place for something else.
