NFL WEEK ELEVEN- Proving grounds.

When the Bears ran roughshod over the NFL, it was cool, because you had Emperor Meatball getting in fistfights with his d-coordinator, a weird-ass loudmouth quarterback, the greatest running back of all time, and a big fat guy named "The Fridge," and then they all got together and made a rap song. Also, they weren't busted for cheating. There's nothing to like about the Patriots, nor was there ever anything to like about the Patriots, and don't give me an iota of that "it was nice that the Patriots won after 9/11" shit, because it means nothing to Washington and New York that Boston won a Super Bowl. How does this "they were liked before!" crap get perpetuated? Everyone I knew was rooting for the Rams.

The 85 Bears where a likable sqaud with crazy characters with over the top personalites. The Patriots nowadays are by all means the epitome of corporate football. Clean cut, not controversial at all with a white collar look. Mix in a pretty boy QB with an almost corporate raider like attitude of a head coach and its easy not to like this team.

The pre-2001 Pats were likable because A. they sucked and B. Their old uniforms are still pretty cool.

I picked them to beat the Rams when no one gave them a chance, so I rooted for them and was delighted that they won because it just made me look smart.

I am rooting for them this year for the first time in awhile. This doesn't happen that often in sports, so instead of being bitter and pissing and moaning about how they're whooping the Bills, I will just sit back and appreciate the amazing job that they're doing.

Flimsy argument: Randy Moss has become a consummate team player since he arrived in Boston, just like everybody else who does everything for the team. And for respect. He hasn't acted out at all like he did in Oakland or Minnesota. Nobody there does.

And that's a bad thing?

While I know in past years, it hasn't been evident, these guys are Football players, not "Entertainers". For a while, I think the two have been synonymous, but they really aren't, and while I do enjoy watching some T.O. or Ocho Cinco, the fact remains that this is their job. And it's not necessarily the fault of the players, I mean this is now an era where people are penalized for simple celebrations. So it's no wonder why these guys just say fuck it now, and go out there and do their job.

Which is exactly what the Patriots do. They go out there and do their job, and they do it better then anyone else on most occasions. I don't see how they should be faulted for that.

Didn't necessarily say it was bad, just that invoking the juice bar stunt is in no way germane to Randy Moss, Patriot, who has had no extracurriculars all year.

Football is entertainment. I watch it while I eat. I don't care about the Xs and Os. They make their money because they entertain people.

Randy Moss is the element of the Patriots I can't stand the most. The guy was a fucking cancer in Minnesota and Oakland, screwing both teams up so badly, that they are still recovering it from today. Now that he is a Patriot, he is a team player? Anybody can see through that bullshit. It just goes to show, if you complain and complain good will happen to you, whether you deserve them or not.

I think it was said earlier, but "entertainer" and "personality" are two different things. The Patriots' only personality is "fuck you" which is GREAT for Patriot fans, but you're not going to win too many people outside that circle with it.

The Patriots are the Nazis of the NFL. The Hoody is Hitler. Randy Moss is France. Adalius Thomas is Henry Ford.

Godwin's law strikes again, I was wondering how long it would take until a Patriots=Nazis post would show up.

So will the NBC schedule makers schedule every non MNF Patriots games for SNF from now on? Next weekend is the 2nd Pats game in a row on SNF.

They are at their league mandated limit of prime-time games (which I believe is 6 for one team). After the MNF game at Baltimore, that's it for prime time games until the playoffs.

EDIT: I forgot about the Giants game on NFL Network in Week 17. THAT will be the last one.

I noticed that this season, Brady's become a huge dickhead on the field. Those SB years through and through, I never saw him lose his cool as much as he does nowadays. I see him yelling at the refs after almost every play. Dude's become a huge dickhead, ego is getting too huge, and I just hope it helps the Pats implode in the next couple years.

Hoping the same for TO and Dallas. He's always been a "team player" until he finds a way to try and justify more money for himself.

I don't have a problem with what the Pats are doing, but I do find it funny that a lot of people who are defending them were complaining when the Colts were winning by similar scores a few years ago, and accusing Manning of stuffing his stats.

Sounds like the Packers are a bunch of cheaters!

Nah, it wasn't about cheating, it was more about gambling. The AP article said this:

ESPN reported that Packers defensive backs offered to pay the team's defensive linemen $500 each if there were able to hold Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson under 100 yards rushing two weeks ago, and another $500 for holding Carolina to under 60 yards rushing as a team on Sunday.

That's nothing new, players pay each other for big hits, 100 yard games, great catches, etc, all the time.
