Hogan Made Wrestling Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Romo to TO, 7-7 and momentum is shifting in Dallas' direction.
Maztinho Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Also the refs where talking that there was some discussion of weather it crossed over and hit the support bar and bounced out. So they saw the ball on the outside of the goalposts and called it no good, but then one of them likely went... hey... it hit the support bar, so they talked about it and went to watch the play and get the call right. It wasn't reviewable in that the Browns can't challenge and the referee in the booth _can't_ call for a review, but the official on the field _can_ make the call. Also this rule will be changed, because of this. Letting the Browns get a HUGE kick return in overtime is was lost them the game, not a bouncy FG. This isn't Oregon/Oklahoma from last year Marv. Suck it up, your team lost.
The Niggardly King Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 I come to these threads for Marvin and I am always pleased. I wasn't even going to come in until I watched highlights of the field goal. I just knew I had to rush over and see the "meltdown".

That's the best explanation I've seen. And it makes sense -- the refs should always be able to review themselves when they're completely unsure of something.
MillenniumMan831 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 The Browns (mainly the defense) played like shit the 2nd half, but . . . . HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can laugh like mid 1990s Vince McMahon all night. What a sweet feeling for the Browns to go from 5-5 to 6-4 in 10 minutes. And how did the Ravens not keep giving the ball to McGahee towards the end of regulation? As for the refs not giving the Ravens the calls, the Browns had 12 penalties for 104 yards while the Ravens only had 2 penalties for 12 yards.
2GOLD Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 They didn't review the play, they were unsure of the rule. He put on the headphones, had someone check the rulebook and made the call. His head doesn't go under the hood. The ref underneath shows with hand motions it went through and bounced out and signaled no good. Well that's not the rule, the officials discussed it and realized they weren't 100% sure of the rule themselves. God even on the kick you see the officials signal it went over and bounced back. They blew the call, other officials knew the correct call, they double checked the rule and not the play and called it. That's not reviewing the play, that's reviewing the rule as called. They already KNEW the result of the play.

BX Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Shit. Dallas is never going to get a good pick from the Browns now.
Smartly Pretty Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 You'd think someone on the wrong end of Jeffrey Maier would be ok with officials reviewing things that alter games.
treble Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Ravens fans have every right to be pissed right now. Side note..I dont think the Ravens org is going to push the issue like they should, Billick gave his press conference and didnt mention anything about it. I Figure he's past the point of caring anymore given he's as good as gone at the end of the season. They're pretty much well on their way to a 10 game losing streak after starting 4-2. Shame 4-12 probably wont even get em a top 5 draft pick this year. You can't whine about the refs making the right call.

Hawkius Maximus Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Josh Brown is my fucking hero.

They had no right to change the call to make it right though because the play was not reviewable. Completely ignoring the rules of reviewability is a bigger issue then them blowing the call and making it right..I dont know how many times the Ravens have been denied challenges because a play wasn't reviewable...and yet here they just went ahead and did it. If the play was reviewable..Id have no problem in the world with what happened because yeah, the FG was obviously good. But its just like when a team is out of TO's and can't challenge and the refs screw up a call..it can't be reviewed and the refs aren't going to debate it for 10 minutes and change the call.
Maztinho Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 They didn't review the play, Marv, they got a clarification on a rule. Which states that if the ball crosses the crossbar within the posts it's a good field goal. Like I said before, the booth didn't call for a "review" there was no review. It was a clarification on the rule and then they made the call. And the FG didn't even win them the game, it just tied it up, they had the opportunity to not kick it to the same guy who already ran a kick back on them to give his team good position on the field, but they did. Face it, you are just seeing this with megatime homer eyes. The one thing that the refs did wrong was make the initial call of no good to begin with. They should have conferred and had the official state that the ball crossed the crossbar and then bounced out, and that they were double checking the rule.
MillenniumMan831 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Just caught the clip of the Brian Billick press conference on nfl.com . . . boy that has future Coors Light commercial written all over it. COACH, don't you think Coors Light is the most refreshing beer on Earth? I'll leave that to those who think they know better. COACH, I heard a rumor that even those in the Cleveland Browns front office think Coors Light is the best brew around! I'm sure they'll explain it and I'll get the appropriate memo later in the week. COACH, you once said that Coors Light is a premium beer. Care to elaborate? Anything beyond that, I wouldn't be able to comment on intelligently.

Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 I don't want to be a menstruating vagina like Marvin, but is Vasgersian fawning over Matt Hasselbeck or what?
UZI Suicide Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Terrell Owens is killing it right now. 8 catches, 173 yards, 4 TD. His last four catches have been TDs.
Guest tonyjaymzretro Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 the ravens/browns was an awesome game live, one of the best ive been to
MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 and if the damn redskins beat the cowboys, I wont be able to make it through the week. ugh... To elaborate..last year..most of the people around here jumped on the Ravens bandwagon after the Redskins played crappy. Now..it seems as if the reverse is happening..and it disgusts me greatly.
Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Fuck the go away.
AlwaysPissedOff Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Jags winning despite the refs basically letting SD back in the game was nice to watch. Now it looks like Dallas wants to let Washington win, lol... EDIT: And as soon as I type that, Jason Campbell proves to me why I thought he was overrated coming out of Auburn...
Hawk 34 Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Fuck. Dallas will win. Marvin is slightly less bothered. What a shame. Edit: Dallas couldn't run the clock off. Hope lingers.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 This is what I always used to do in Madden. 5 yard penalties on plays when I was trying to hold on to a lead late..smart.
CanadianChris Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 So, are the Jets that much better with Kellen Clemens, or are the Steelers not nearly as good as we thought?
Brett Favre Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 The Jet defense just stepped up. Plus we've been losing a lot of close games, so finally the tables have turned.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 So, are the Jets that much better with Kellen Clemens, or are the Steelers not nearly as good as we thought? But..The Ravens beat the Jets with Clemens in at QB.
CanadianChris Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 And, for the final word on the FG, they just said on NBC that the review official wouldn't give the referee any film, that they had to decide it via a crew conference. The official who saw the ball go over the cross bar wasn't the one who signalled the try was no good, and he argued convincingly in the huddle that the ball did go over the bar. So, the crew got the call right without violating the rules.
Brett Favre Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 So, are the Jets that much better with Kellen Clemens, or are the Steelers not nearly as good as we thought? But..The Ravens beat the Jets with Clemens in at QB. Thanks to Justin McCareins. Ravens suck.
