Ripper 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 But that also doesn't mean he did anything in his past at all. Guest RyechnaiaSobaka Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I think the argument from Antrel Rolle makes perfect sense. You have a guy who obviously associated with some bad dudes when he was younger, as a lot of people in his situation certainly did and continue to do. His teammates say that he was basically a douchebag of the first order when he came into the league. But they also said that since his daughter was born, he'd been like a brand new person. I'm taking their word for this and believing them when they say it, which may be foolish because we all know that when someone dies people try to make them seem like better people than they actually were. Plus you have to look at what happened to Michael Vick, another guy who kept associating with the same dirtballs from when he was growing up, and look where he ended up - in prison. I think, if true, it's pretty commendable that Sean Taylor decided he was going to break it off with the bad influences in his life even if it meant that they might try to hurt him. If that's how it went down, he did a brave thing. Perhaps not very many people would have done that. So the argument goes, these kids all agree that if one of them makes it, he'll bring them all along for the ride. And I guess somebody felt like he was owed something (this isn't surprising, is it?) by Sean, and Sean tried to break it off. Now Sean's dead and I'm pretty certain that whoever killed him is going to get caught. And I'm nearly as certain that the person who killed him will already be known to the police. Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted November 30, 2007 That's why I'm so surprised that all the apologists actively want it to be a random act of violence. There's a better chance that justice is served if it's someone connected to Taylor rather than just any old guy trying to rob the place.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I think the funny thing is that people saying he wasn't a thug are considered "apologist". Vick needs an apologist. He actually did something. People are basically making up stuff they want with Taylor.

Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Firstly, most of hip hop culture is consumed by white suburban young males. Just gotta jump in here for a second and point out that this is because there are more white suburban males than black people. If I eat a hot dog, and a hundred Mexicans eat a hot dog, too, it doesn't mean I didn't eat a hot dog. I live in South Central. The Hip Hop culture is celebrated, practiced and preached far more than when I lived in Beaverton, Oregon. I think wholesale blame of music is stupid. Cultural scapegoating makes me furious. Ignoring the power of music, and claiming it has no effect, is naive, though.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Music has the same influence on lives and actions that films, books, TV, or any other media does: a nominal effect on preferences, appearances, mannerisms, and frames of reference. A culture or way of life develops music and other media out of its characteristics, not the other way around. I snorted tea at the angel wings picture. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Just some plain ol' Lipton today. Our receptionist forgot to order all the good stuff after we ran out, so I'm not getting my requisite Awake black tea or Earl Grey fix. Probably for the best considering the snorting. Uh, sports. Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I never liked Constant Comment. Now chai, that's the most cerebral of all teas. Milk and sugar, of course. Plain black tea (and black coffee, too!) disgusts me. I have to dress these things up. I'm giving white tea one more chance to impress me.

Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted November 30, 2007 I have no idea what you're talking about. Tea comes in bags. I put bags in a coffee mug full of boiling water, then I add sugar.

MrRant 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Trust me, the liquid "already brewed plus having the sugar" in it is great. Just mix an equal part that and milk and heat it up or put it over ice and it's Chai-tastic.

Boon 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Source: 3 held in Sean Taylor killing By Jessica Gresko, Associated Press Writer | November 30, 2007 MIAMI --Police have detained at least three people in the Fort Myers area for questioning in the death of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor. A law enforcement official in Lee County confirmed the men from the Fort Myers area were in custody, but requested anonymity because the investigation is being handled by Miami-Dade County police. Miami-Dade police would not confirm if anyone was in custody for the shooting death of Taylor, who was attacked at his Miami area home Monday and died a day later. Police only said detectives were in the Fort Myers area for an unspecified case. "Our detectives are out there in Fort Myers conducting an investigation, gathering information and at this particular time they are not comfortable releasing any information regarding their investigation," police spokesman Robert Williams said. "As soon as information develops that will not jeopardize their case, they will release information." The Miami Herald, which first reported the development on its Web site, said investigators believe the suspects learned of Taylor's house through someone who unwittingly set up the burglary by bragging about his wealth. The suspects include two teenagers and a man in his 20s, all from the Fort Myers area, the paper reported. A telephone message left at the Florida City Police Department for the slain safety's father, Chief Pedro Taylor, was not immediately returned. Richard Sharpstein, a former Taylor lawyer and family friend, confirmed the law enforcement report. "It's my understanding that three individuals are in custody. A house is being searched," Sharpstein said, without disclosing who had given him the information. He repeated previous statements that the burglary did not appear to be random and that the 24-year-old's house had been targeted. Taylor's teammates and friends were measured in responding to this latest development. "I can't get excited or get my hopes up hoping these are the guys until we know for sure," said running back Clinton Portis. "Everybody wants to know why. It's still not gonna bring back Sean. It will still take a great guy away from the world." Said receiver Santana Moss: "If those are the guys, I just hope that they'll just be dealt with properly. I feel there's nothing much I can say about it. It's no anger I can express to them. What's done is done." Evidence at Taylor's home indicated one or more intruders barged into the house early Monday in an attempted burglary, Miami-Dade police director Robert Parker said Wednesday. Taylor and longtime girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, were awakened by loud noises at Taylor's home in an affluent Miami suburb, Sharpstein has said. Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection, Sharpstein said, then someone broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor in the upper leg. Neither the couple's 18-month-old daughter, also named Jackie, nor Garcia were injured in the attack. The bullet damaged the femoral artery in Taylor's leg, causing significant blood loss. Taylor never regained consciousness and died a little more than 24 hours later. A public viewing for Taylor is scheduled Sunday in Miami, and the entire Redskins organization plans to fly to Florida to attend Monday's funeral at Pharmed Arena at Florida International University. Ripper 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 Not to derail the thread, but they have three guys in custody. Apparently they might have learned about Taylors home from someone who knows him bragging about how much money he(Taylor) had. It is also being assumed that since he was supposed to be out of town with the team, they probably thought the house was empty. Now...back to Tea. All my tea come from the tins in my kitchen that I got from Teavana and I use the Gold Tea Ball ...fuck them Tea Bags. Plus. I like saying Gold Tea Ball. Well, that's all nice, but it probably doesn't work out of the scenario of the intruders busting down the bedroom door (with Sean and his girlfriend both inside), shooting twice at Sean, and leaving his stuff, his girlfriend, and his daughter all untouched. If that's really what happened, anyway. It's just what I read most recently.
Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted November 30, 2007 What kind of burglar shows up and just kills the guy without stealing anything? I was always under the impression that burglars look to avoid conflict: if they hear a barking dog, they'll try another house.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2007 From everything I've heard about his house... it was pretty damn secure, even though he had no guards. The only way to get in, would be if you REALLY knew the layout of the place, or if someone LET you in. I'm going to say it might have been his woman who set this up.
