Just call me Dan 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Thanks for that. I can easily see the difference now. Am I the only one that thought the Serra guy with all his moaning was putting on an act when he asked all the questions over and over about whether or not it was a real fight or practice? It almost seemed like an attempt to save face and cover up for him losing his shit after waking up from those bricks to the face.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 It could've been. Or I guess he could've completely lost it. The moaning was starting to annoy me though. Looking at the preview it looks like someone pisses Forrest off with his "i'm not normally an angry guy comment" and I want to know what happened with Rampage that made him go off like that. Sounded like he said "he didn't even fight!" Oh and I'm glad Dana was able to explain the upkicks thing to Rampage before it got him DQ'd. lol
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Rampage should know a thing or two about upkicks. He got KO'd by one from Arona and it was only Arona's stupidity that prevented him from finishing the fight.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 The order in which I'd draft the guys: 1) C.B. Dalloway 2) Dante Rivera 3) Paul Bradley 4) Gerald Harris 5) Tim Credeur 6) Luke Zachrich 7) Jesse Taylor 8) Nick Klein 9)Amir Sadollah 10) Matt Brown 11) Brandon Sene 12) Cale Yarborough 13) Mike Dolce 14) Matthew Riddle 15) Daniel Cramer 16) Jeremy May
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 Gerald Harris is a sleeper on this show for sure... I've seen him fight in IFL, he has a lot of potential.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 I thought I'd like the idea of non stop fighting in the first two episodes, but I wasn't loving it. Sure, got to see some fights, but it usually takes me a few episodes in to get to know who's who anyway. I can't place the fighters names to their faces yet. Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Kicked out for herpes? Poor fucking guy. Yea seriously. If there was one thing you don't want to come out on national tv....Yea, that's probably at the top of the list. And so they bring back Mr. Kennedy.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I loved it when Rampage met the dermatologist, he asked him if he was related to Shawn Michaels...
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Rampage is just such a cool dude. Dolce was just flat out bad in that fight. He reversed position, got top, and then just turtled directly back onto his back. I knew at that point, which was pretty early in the fight, that he had no shot. Or maybe Taylor is just that strong, I don't know. I like how they made a point to continually show how stupid he is. I remarked to my fiance "Dolce sure does talk a lot of shit for a guy that's getting his ass kicked." They kept showing how stupid Taylor was, but they repeatedly showed Dolce talking shit. I felt bad for the herpes dude, but I'm sure he could get a job as a wrestling coach somewhere again. His crying that he had nothing now was kind of annoying. Not like he can't get some temporary job to support himself while he tries to get back into coaching or fighting. I mean, I guess it's upsetting but seriously dude; it's not like Dana just told you to go live on the street. I'm sure he has family to stay with too. I'm hoping Rampage's guys do well. I like Rampage a lot(he's quickly become one of my favorite fighters) and I don't want him to end up looking like Ken Shamrock as a coach. I wonder where the heat between he and Forrest comes from? They seem to be getting along fine right now.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I have no idea how Riddle got picked so high, nor why he'd choose to talk shit on a BJJ guy a dozen times better than the know-nothing he struggled to finish. EDIT: And picking Schultz instead of Byrnes further calls Rampage's assistant coaches' credibility into question.

They kept showing how stupid Taylor was, but they repeatedly showed Dolce talking shit. I kept thinking that the armbar for Jesse was right there if he wanted it, but this is pretty much what you get in the prelim fights. Bradley got a contract with EliteXC, so I think he'll be OK. Unless they test him for herpes. I'm hoping Rampage's guys do well. They seem to be getting along fine right now. I think both these guys have no problem throwing down against buddies, so I'd imagine that any heat comes from WANTING to create some friction for TV... BTW, I know Maynard's a coach on Team Griffin, and it looks like Rampage has his usual corner guys, but who are the other coaches?
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Bradley signed with EliteXC? There is precedent for injured fighters getting to fight on the finale. Roman Mitchiyan has had 2 UFC fights. Really, all you have to do is win on the finale and you'll get another shot (see: Machine, War).

Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 EDIT: And picking Schultz instead of Byrnes further calls Rampage's assistant coaches' credibility into question. I'm sorry Lei Tong, but Juanito Ibarra's opinion is much more valid then yours.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Maybe "competency" is the wrong word. How about the phrase "eye for talent?" Besides, I'm sure that (for example) Tito Ortiz knows more about fighting than 99% of the world's population, yet he still couldn't see that Ed Herman was a better choice than Mike fuckin' Stine. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Maybe "competency" is the wrong word. How about the phrase "eye for talent?" Who knows, I've never seen much from Pat Schultz other then the fight against Luke Zachrich... Maybe Juanito and Zach saw something, we didn't. They are great trainers and have done a lot of good for Rampage over the years. I found it funny Jeremy May called Luke the worst fighter in the house, because I think May is byfar the worst the fighter in the house... He talks a lot of shit for a shitty fighter. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 Why is it that everyone has an excuse for losing on this show? It's never that the other guy was better, it's "Well I would've won but X, Y and Z prevented me from winning!"
Broward83 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2008 Yeah but in reading the blog, it does kind of seem that it was the staff's fault for pushing him like that.. knowing he had the fight coming up.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Yeah but in reading the blog, it does kind of seem that it was the staff's fault for pushing him like that.. knowing he had the fight coming up. I think that's how it is every season though. I mean you fight on a crazy schedule so you don't have your normal month or whatever to get ready for a fight. Yeah he shouldn't have worked the day before but you also don't have time to be kicking back and taking it easy 3-5 days before a fight. He has mastered the Tito Ortiz backhanded "this is not an excuse" where he lays out all the reasons he lost then claims they aren't an excuse after throwing them all out there and putting them in your head. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 I almost feel like this show should be put on hold. I mean, they're getting some pretty shitty people on this show. I really haven't enjoyed a season since 3.
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 I was cheering for Riddle because of Credeur's dickishness at the weigh-ins. But Riddle just didn't listen to Rampage at all and I wasn't sad to see him lose. There was a point where he could have passed, could have stood up like Rampage said, or could have hit a sub but he did nothing and he ended up tapped out because of it. Frustrating. randomguy 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 Neither of them had any real skill on the ground. It was the kind of fight some people consider exciting because there were lots of reversals and mayhem but it's only because neither had much competence. Everything was just really sloppy. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 Using spoiler tags for those who catch the West Coast feed: Rivera defeated Sene via extra round decision, looking utterly horrible in the process. He didn't help himself any by playing the clinch game with a bigger, stronger guy, but his complete lethargy in the match can't be explained away by just that. Terrible fight. Next week is Brown vs. May in a grudge match, plus another fight, likely to make up for tonight's terrible show. In the preview May was still throwing left hooks from the far side of the moon, so I predict a quick KO via Brown to bring the other fight on quickly (though after tonight's ep, I'm highly doubting my powers of prognostication). It was by far the laziest I've ever seen him look. There's any number of reasons he may have underperformed, but regardless, I agree that pretty much anyone from Dollaway to Taylor would've massacered him in that fight. Mik 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 Well - I can see where Rampage was coming from. He had sidemount for the final 90 seconds and landed maybe 3-4 shots in total.
