Matt Young 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 All these people who picked the Seahawks- I'd like some of what you're smoking. Packers 42, Seahawks 20.
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Something has to change with the Seahawks after this. I don't know what, but something has to. This'll be the second year in a row that they've gone 1-1 in the Playoffs. None of the issues since the 2005 season have seemingly gotten dealt with, and the run game has completely evaporated. It's all culminated in this, for lack of a better word, raping. Maybe Holmgren should retire, and we can see what a new head coach could do. Maybe rehaul the offensive line. I don't think BOTH Alexander and Morris are horrible runners, so something else is at work there. This 1-1 stuff sucks. Gives you hope, and then it gets cruelly snatched away. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 13, 2008 I could not have been more wrong about this game. I appologize to everyone for trying to make it seem like the Seahawks had a shot. This was clearly an error of judgement. It's okay. I was going to refute your argument, but I did realize Seattle had played pretty damn well down the stretch and did well against Washington, who I was afraid of facing at Lambeau. This game can't be terribly interesting for any non-cheeseheads, so hopefully tonight's game will be fun to watch. Of course, I'm having a blast.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Maybe Holmgren should retire, and we can see what a new head coach could do. Maybe rehaul the offensive line. I don't think BOTH Alexander and Morris are horrible runners, so something else is at work there. I think this is what needs to be done. While much fun has been made of the usual pundits making a big deal out of Steve Hutchinson's departure to Minnesota, observe the fact that Seattle's once highly touted running game is gone, and now Minnesota is primarily a running team. And all that, for Nate Burleson? Zuh?
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 I don't think it helps either that Alexander has seemingly lost steps since the 2005 season, and while Morris is a good runner, I don't think he has the ability to get past people like...for example...this Ryan Grant fella. Couple that with an apparently horrible line, and some questionable play calling and you have a really bad situation. Something has to change though. I'd be willing to take a few losing seasons just to get past this damn hurdle. ...Hey! The Packers punted! This is CLEARLY a turning point.

Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 ...what the FUCK was that?
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Clearly, a great throw! This reminds me a bit of Steve Young talking about playing with the Bucs in some snowy game, years ago on some NFL special. He mentioned something about the fact that he was totally unable to even see who he was throwing to because the jerseys were white.. Not like that's much of an excuse, but still funny nonetheless. Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Seattle's just...checked out, mentally. I think they've been gone for awhile now, but it's obvious now. I really advocate a "mercy kill" to football games. Unless lightning comes from the heavens and strikes all the Green Bay players, Seattle isn't going to win this game when their behind twenty two points with less then four minutes in-game left. Their more or less just playing for pride now.
MFer 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 This is killing me as a Lions' fan...just about everything seems to be going the Packers' way this year. I had a hard time buying them as a dominant team through the first half of the season but I can't deny it now despite my biases...I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat the Giants or Cowboys next week. Worst part is that they've done it by drafting well and picking their spots in free agency (not to mention the fact that McCarthy could've been the Lions' coach). Meanwhile, us Lions' fans are stuck with Matt Millen...
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 The Packers completely silenced me with this game. I thought the Seahawks defensive line could/would contain Ryan Grant, and I thought if the Seahawks got out to a lead, Farve would revert and start fucking up. I also figured that the Seahawks would get pressure on Farve constantly. I was wrong about all three of those. Grant seemingly ran at will, Farve played amazingly well, and the Seahawks got almost NO pressure on Farve the entire game. That was a fucking Iron Shiek level humbling. I don't think BOTH Alexander and Morris are horrible runners, so something else is at work there. No, they are both horrible runners and that's mostly a by-product of the bad offensive line. I still think Hasselbeck's a top 5 QB and the receivers are more than adequate, but he's forced to do too much because no respects the running game. Resigning Alexander after '05 was a necessity because of his MVP season and the Super Bowl run, but I think we all knew this would be the reality in the future. The defense has holes, but is more than adequate. In my mind, you have to keep Holmgren and Hasselbeck. It's the rest of the team that has to be rebuilt. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 I am amazed that the Packers didn't panic after being down 14-0. Clearly this is a much different team than what we had under Sherman where we saw that happen time after time. And to think, two years ago Brad Childress was the coach that people wanted.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 13, 2008 I've always thought Childress was a pretty terrible coach, by the way. I didn't have faith in McCarthy based on his credentials, but he's been great. I actually wanted Green Bay to hire Mariucci at the time. Thompson definitely knows WTF he's doing, I gotta give the guy a lot of credit for that.
devo 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Hell of a start for the Jags. Eighty yards in four minutes. That touchdown pass was borderline, though.

It looked to me like the ball was coming out before he went down. Either way, I think it was too close to overturn the call on the field.

Guest Cock Ring Warehouse Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Man, it's a good thing Jacksonville got the point-after kick off before the Patriots could challenge that, because the refs would've handed the Patriots that call easily, as they are wont to do. Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Jacksonville is dead meat if they have to go drive-for-drive with New England in the second half. They need to keep this tight at halftime, then get some takeaways.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 What a fun game. Without Grant's two very early fumbles and Jackson hitting the punter, the score would be 42-3. Now, go Jaguars.
