Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 The video of it is on YouTube but I (like you) am waiting for an MP3 version. What a beautiful song.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Does anyone know where I can see Glen Hasgard and Marketa Ingrova's performance of "Falling Slowly" (and, since they won, their acceptance speech)? For the acceptance speech, look for both parts. Like happened several times last night, the huge assholes in the production room kept having the orchestra come in and cut off anyone whose speech was running long. I know that always happens, but they were fucking nazis about it last night, "running long" seemed to be defined as "fifteen seconds or more". It was so bad that after Marketa got cut off and didn't get to speak at all, and Jon Stewart actually brought her back out onstage after the commercial break so she could talk. I do want to see Once now, just for the crowd response. Every single time it was mentioned, everyone roared louder than they did for anything else all night long. For a tiny indy movie nobody's ever heard of, that's something unusual.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Go see it, It's a great movie. Hell, after last night's performance I actually want to buy it (I saw it in theaters last fall).
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I hadn't heard of the movie until I researched the artists online. I had been seeing the video late at night/early morning on VH1 for a couple weeks and, yes, it is a beautiful song.
Craig Th 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I don't understand why they have TWO sound awards presented at the same time - all of the nominees were (basically) the same for both and Bourne won both anyway - can this not be combined into one award? I bet if you ask one of those people if they were to be combined, they would hate it because I am sure they think they are doing something completely different from one in another. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I think they missed the boat on not showing individual clips of the Best Picture nominees throughout the show like they usually do and did with the Songs that were for the most part abysmal at best (the right song won but the rest were bad) and honestly if the NASCAR race hadnt been rained out I would have watched that live and DVRed the Oscars but anyway, it wasnt a bad show but there really wasnt anything exceptionally memorable about it at all. Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 In related news, the Razzies are just fucking bullshit and horrible. I get annoyed every year. they pick one movie, sheep on anything that critics didn't like and just attack the star. I think Lohan won like every award this year just because they felt like picking on her. And I mean, christ, her acting was pretty damn good in the movie. Its just that the movie seemed to have a different writer around about the midway point who just was insistant on making everything suck. Speaking of the Razzies, am I the only person that LIKED Norbit? It had some funny moments but it was pretty bad. But you can't knock Murphys acting job in it. Just the jokes weren't funny. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I saw Once in theatres. It was a really good film
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Once was a good movie. It wasn't widely known, but it is well known in certain circles (i'll bet in like NY and boston and places like that its well known). I'm glad the song won rather than that Enchanted crap. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Why Brad Renfro was left off the Deceased Montage. Weak sauce...inexcusable that he was left off. I'm almost 100% positive River Phoenix was on there in 92 or 93 or whenever it was. The "not a big enough star" thing is also crap. No one knew who half the other people were that they showed, you can tell that by the amount of applause given. Now that I think about it, I swear Jonathan Brandis was on a montage...he wacked himself and he's certainly not a bigger star than Renfro.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Not that I'm a Renfro fan or anything, but that was crap
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I understand you can't include every single person involved in making films every time, but come on, people knew who Renfro was. He wasn't some random name. He wasn't a stunt guy from the 50s.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 they put ppl that nobody ever heard of (not a complaint) btw, but not someone who actually starred in a couple of movies? ok whatever... it is a bit crap and if they were worried about the feel-goodness of it, just stick him in the middle somewhere. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 The guy starred in Bully and Apt Pupil, both movies are widely popular among the younger crowd of movies fans. Hell, his well known drug problem should have put him in there alone. And why even do a montage of deceased people in show business if you're not gonna include everybody? Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2008 "We can't include everybody" is complete nonsense. Oh no, including him means three whole seconds would be taken away from... what, Catherine Zeta Jones talking about the Oscar she won? Please.
