Kinetic 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 Dont mean to mention the two dreaded GB words again, but Glenn Beck had an "Liscense to Procreate" application to the US Department of Parenting in his book in the chapter on parenting. He also suggested that the couple would have to go through a simulated parenting exercise over the course of 3 months or so having to deal with the a baby crying all night and needing to be fed and the like.. Considering the things you have to fill out an application to do (rent movies, get a job, buy a house) I cant see why anyone would have a problem with it. It would increase government involvement in our day-to-day lives. If I don't want the government insisting that I significantly increase my chances of surviving a car crash by wearing a seatbelt, why would I want to have to report to some Washington bureaucrat before knocking up my live-in underage girlfriend? But let's just assume for a moment that such a form did exist. What would happen in a case where you have an unplanned pregnancy and the couple's so-called License to Procreate was denied? Is Glenn Beck advocating government-mandated abortion?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 Couple general thoughts: 1. I should have asked about the New York Yankees receiving corporate tax breaks and land for their new stadium. If you think supporting the underprivileged is bad, supporting the privileged is much, much worse. 2. If you think this is bad, I had Political Science courses with Rob F'n Johnstone in college. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 What was that like? Did he say anything? Did he deny the Holocaust? Don't tease us Al. I honestly don't remember. One of my political science professors observed that I have this wonderful trait of visibly tuning out idiocy, that I don't suffer fools gladly. So when he opened his mouth, I stopped listening. Is Glenn Beck advocating government-mandated abortion? Exactly. Most babies aren't planned. People get pregnant and either the parents are happy or they are upset. Lets not pretend that teenaged pregancies are for the most part kids planning a family. Like Jingus said, this is basically a "you can't have sex" law. Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted February 13, 2008 I re-read the food man thing when smitty re-posted it, and I'm still kind of snickering a few pages later. What's so great about that is how sincere and optimistic that guy was when he wrote that.

Twisted Intestine 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 You think YOU came too late. Why the fuck is he banned? He had some solid ideas. The only thing I can see that he was missing, is the big picture. Why only throw people in jail for life for having a baby? We should just throw everyone in jail for not going to college. We'll give them 3 years after high school, and if not, TO THE SLAMMER WITH YE! I'm surprised nobody mentioned that it would cost more to keep the people in jail, than it would to give them welfare.
