Guest Michael Myers Resplendent Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Scorpion against what, a beetle?
Brett Favre Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Damn, I thought the scorpion was going to win. The scorpion just got choked out.
Guest Michael Myers Resplendent Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 I figured Scorpion would beat Stag Beetle too, but then I realized that the poisonous stinger is of little use against an exoskeleton. Stag Beetle can crush. "I fight in the style of the mantis. Mostly because I am one." And yes, mods, this is a sport. In case you're wondering about the modifiers, it is both fighting between Japanese bugs, and bug fighting from Japan.
Ripper Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 There is a Vick joke to be made here. I am having a hard time coming up with it though.
Guest Michael Myers Resplendent Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 I'll do it. Kosuke Vickudome. Blue Scorpion!
Brett Favre Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 I like how they were sizing each other up. It looks weird, I don't really like looking at bugs, but I can't stop watching!
Spaceman Spiff Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Oh shit! I can't wait to get home to watch these. Good find, Czech.
Red Baron Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 We need Rudo or Curry to rate these matches. Really disappointed in the Mantis/Hornet match. It was like watching Mysterio vs Batista, as the Hornet was too fast for the slow Mantis.
Guest Michael Myers Resplendent Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I knew you'd like it. Wolf Spider vs. Praying Mantis. I gotta find one with a tarantula, if only to hear the Japanese announcer say it.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Really disappointed in the Mantis/Hornet match. It was like watching Mysterio vs Batista, as the Hornet was too fast for the slow Mantis. Really? I thought it was the match of the thread thus far. I didn't realize the Hornet was so technically proficient on the mat in addition to its high flying skills. The Mantis has been made to look like a bitch so far, too- I always thought it was a pretty weak predator bug. Stag Beetle's dominance of scorpion was crazy, as was blue scorpion's annihilation of his opponent. I want to see Wolf Spider vs. Stag Beetle, although I don't know who would actually be strong enough to kill Stag Beetle.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Oh shit! Ask and ye shall receive. Ladies and gentlemen, TARANTULA VS. STAG BEETLE Crap. Try this link: http://revver.com/video/585567
Guest Michael Myers Resplendent Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Oh dear. The cracking sounds. It wasn't even a fair fight.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Ok, nothing is beating the tarantula. The Scorpion begs to differ.
Mik Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Oh man, it's just like MMA. Styles (or body parts in this case) make fights.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I want to see a giant centiipede get in the mix. That's a mean ass bug. Here's one eating a mouse.
Red Baron Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 That was an asskicking if I have ever seen one.
Guest Vitamin X Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 I want to see a giant centiipede get in the mix. That's a mean ass bug. Here you go. http://revver.com/video/585395
Ced Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 I knew you'd like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqWwkl9Y5sM Wolf Spider vs. Praying Mantis. I gotta find one with a tarantula, if only to hear the Japanese announcer say it. Looked like the mantis tapped at 1:13. It's like they drew two names of predatory insects out of a hat and threw them together to see which one would kill the other.
Cowboy Battlenuts Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 I want to see a giant centiipede get in the mix. That's a mean ass bug. Here you go. http://revver.com/video/585395 This fight was fixed! The scorpion hit him repeatedly with the stinger and he was retreating.
Guest Beastalentier Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Hey, that's not Japanese bug fighting.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I want to see a giant centiipede get in the mix. That's a mean ass bug. Here you go. http://revver.com/video/585395 This fight was fixed! The scorpion hit him repeatedly with the stinger and he was retreating. The wonders of a hard shell. It's not just for M&Ms. Looked like the centipede got him a good shot in the beginning then just waited him out. Not exactly a crowd pleasing fight, but it got the job done. BTW that Stag Beetle/Tarantula fight was crap. I want the SB from the scorpion fight. That one looks like no joke. I hate violence against animals, yet I can't stop watching these. I guess it's the Japanese TV influence. You start out with some innocent non-porn anime, then Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, then before you know it you're setting your DVR to record Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke and watching insect death fights.
Obi Chris Kenobi Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 haha shit, those Japanese are crazzzzy! I'd love to know what the commentators were saying, they sound pretty engrossed in the fight.
Guest Cal Moriarty Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Scorpion vs. Centipede, but that appears to be one big-ass centipede. Centipede vs. Hornet.
randomguy Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 When I was in Japan a few years ago there was a popular arcade-style game based on this. You could find it nearly every big toy store and a lot of department stores. I think you would collect cards based on the type of bug and then fight it out or something. Edit: Here's a random link about it: http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2007/09/12/j...rcade-game.html
Conspiracy_Victim Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I thought that hornet was going to be a JTTS since he didn't have the room to use his mobility and vertical attack to try to hit and run, but that damn centipede takes its own sweet time getting warmed up. Ended up resorting to the rope-a-dope on the hornet and just waited it out like it did with the scorpion. Not exactly a crowd pleasing strategy, but it works. Hornet did try to mix it up with it though, and got into some good tie-ups. 2 1/2-3 stars, nothing real special.
