ECW (4/1/2008)

Recommended Posts

There’s a new champion in the Land of the Extreme and his name is Kane. To earn the opportunity to challenge ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero, the Big Red Machine defeated 23 other competitors in the 24-Man Battle Royal, including giants such as Mark Henry, The Great Khali and Snitsky. Later in the evening, Kane emerged from under the ring, catching the “Mexican Warrior” by surprise and slamming the defending champion down with a chokeslam. Having been relieved of the ECW Championship with no chance to defend himself, will Guerrero retaliate Tuesday night?

Guerrero isn’t the only competitor Kane has to look out for, however. The Money in the Bank Ladder Match came down to a struggle between Chris Jericho and CM Punk. Though Y2J grasped the briefcase first, it was the Straightedge Superstar who managed to remove it from its hook. With a golden opportunity in his briefcase waiting to be exercised at Punk’s will, the Straightedge Superstar has the power to avenge his previous loss of the ECW Title with the championship of his choice. What lies ahead for Punk in the Land of the Extreme?

While Shelton Benjamin demonstrated why he calls himself the “Gold Standard” of ECW when he defeated Carlito in a preview to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Benjamin wasn’t able to keep up his hot streak at WrestleMania XXIV. Neither he or fellow ECW Superstar John Morrison could become “money” and earn the Extreme title opportunity.

Find out what’s in store for these ECW Superstars and others on the first post-’Mania edition of ECW on Sci Fi, Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

Kane is not going to make ECW must-see for me. He really needs to spice things up a bit, he's rather bland and played out. I'd LOVE for him to put his mask back on, even if just for the entrance, and take it off for the match - sorta like Demolition back in the day.

I guess it makes more sense having a fresh face champion, as ECW is the land of heels. Morrison, Miz, Benjamin, Burke, Chavo can all get in line for their shot.

Really? Punk cashing in his shot for the ECW title?

Ugh. Apparently, CM Punk means, I settle for mediocrity.

I think they're just teasing it, since Punk _is_ on the brand.

Yeah, but its the E, could you honestly tell me that they wouldn't have Punk cash it in on the ECW title?

Oh, so we get semi-reluctant tag team #56 versus the Minoriteam. Smell the ratings.

This Richards/Knox feud is still going..shocking

And I really have no interest what so ever in either Mike Knox, or Stevie Richards. So a feud with them both, is just uninteresting.

At least with the Richards/Thorn feud, well...we hadn't seen Stevie/seen Stevie win in a while, so it was something different, not to mention Thorn was a lot better then Knox, but this is just so...meh. And I doubt it's going anywhere.

I'm curious if Knox will survive the spring cleaning round of cuts or will inexplicably remain on the roster for another couple of years.

For some crazy reason I like Mike Knox so Id be angered a bit if he got cut. I think he could do more on SD or even RAW though.

I had the idea of a Knox/Palumbo tag team that would probably be pretty bad ass.

Yes, that look from Show with his hand on Colin's shoulder, as if saying "sorry bout this kid" was great.
