Ripper Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 The Piston or the Celtics would kick the shit out of the Lakers. Do you realize that the Celtics have now lost six straight road playoff games to the Hawks and the Cavaliers? And they're going to kick the shit out of the Lakers? If by "kick the shit out of..." you mean edge in 7, maybe. But Boston isn't legitimately kicking the shit out of anyone. They matchup better with the Lakers than they do anyone else in the playoffs. By the way, even if the Jazz lose, Millsap, Harpring and Williams are playing like MEN in here in the 4th and showing they dont want to go home.
Kinetic Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 They MATCHUP better with the Lakers than they do the Hawks? You're on drugs, Ripper. Not a chance in hell that Boston would win a game in L.A. They couldn't win a game at fucking Philip's Arena, man! This shit is just not going to happen. Boston at large is going to have to be satisfied with its regular season glory.
alfdogg Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 The Hawks were a terrible matchup for the Celtics. I don't know if there was a worse matchup for them, in fact.
alfdogg Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 I like the Jazz, but boy, I'll be glad to not have to hear from these fans until next season. That was Kobe's first shot attempt in the fourth quarter since game 4. I can't help but wonder if that was a reaction to the criticism he received following said game.
Maztinho Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 As a Utahn, and Jazz fan. I hate my people. I hate Kobe more, but still. I hate my people.
Ripper Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Yes. the Hawks have one of the best defensive bigs in the league in Josh Smith to match up with garnett, Marvin williams is a damn good defender at the 3, Joe Johnson is Joe johnson and Josh childress is a garbage player that doesn't foul alot. The Lakers have Kobe, on offense, they have no one that can even start to slow down KG, or Paul Pierce and important guys on the team like Leon Powe are giong to be able to be effective in the series. You can say fucking Phillips Arena all you want, but the Hawks beat Phoenix, Dallas, the Lakers, the Cavs, and Utah at home this season. Basketball is about matchups, not about records.
Kinetic Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Their series with Cleveland has had the exact same result thus far. They've won at home and lost on the road.
Damaramu Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Tirico just went off on the Utah fans. That was kind of funny. I'm just ready for the conference finals. I'm glad LA and Detroit were able to take care of business and finish off there lesser opponents and get the ball rolling forward. It'd be nice if Boston and......well I don't know who's better between SA/NO, but I wish they and Boston would just finish it and get on to the next round so we can get a Detroit/SA final again (not that that's my favorite matchup, but it really feels like it may be rolling that way. then again i don't hate that matchup like everyone else seems to).
naiwf Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Kobe just gave a "beat him to the spot" Williams a forearm shiver to the face and that's a blocking foul. I give up.
alfdogg Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 I wouldn't have a problem with Spurs/Pistons, either. However, I am quite intrigued by a possible Hornets/Pistons series.

I'm all for Chris Paul being finals MVP. I wish the NBA/Nike/ESPN marketing machine would get behind him. I actually like him.
Ripper Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Their series with Cleveland has had the exact same result thus far. They've won at home and lost on the road. Cleveland also has defensive players to slow down Garnett and a guy to chase around Allen. Also because of some matchup issues, he can't play guys that he would be able to play against the lakers like Powe and Allen, both of whom are important players to what the celtics did all season. And Kobe just got tied up, and travelled. Odom should miss one becase that is what Odom does.
alfdogg Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 The Jazz probably didn't realize it, but the Lakers only had two seconds to get the ball upcourt at the time they fouled Odom deep in the backcourt. That was a big break for the Lakers

alfdogg Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 Oh...I guess they were. Nevermind then. Great finish.
CanadianChris Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 WHEW. I can't believe they survived the ending. I was sure someone was going to hit a 3.
MFer Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Hell of a finish to a game that was looking like a blowout.
naiwf Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 I definitely did not expect Williams to miss that shot at the end. At least this series provided some really good games.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 What a white-knuckle finish. I don't have anything emotionally invested in either team, but I think I stopped breathing at certain points. That last sequence after the missed FT was crushing.
Damaramu Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 You know at least this was a decent series. It brought the Lakers back to the forefront as a contender in my mind. Not that they weren't a contender after the Denver series, but Denver sucks so bad and the series was such an ass-kicking that I forgot they existed! And why can't both Game 7's be on Sunday? I don't want to wait till Monday to end the SA/NO series.
CanadianChris Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Yeah, the SA/NO Game 7 not being on the weekend makes no sense at all. They should be playing Saturday.
alfdogg Posted May 17, 2008 Author Report Posted May 17, 2008 Why is Sasha Vujajic tugging on his jersey. Korver should have punched him in the face.
Kinetic Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Seriously. No game tomorrow. You'll have to settle for either some comically mismatched baseball games or interacting with your loved ones. Good luck, all.
Damaramu Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Why is Sasha Vujajic tugging on his jersey. Korver should have punched him in the face. I wouldn't mind him so much if he didn't lick his fingers and push his hair out of the way like a girl while shooting FTs. Then again everyone has their own weird FT quirks.
Guest Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 There wasn't a single team that matched up better with us than the Jazz. They abused us on the glass, but I can't see that happening in any of the remaining series. Boston can't even win a fuckin' road game. I'm not worried about them.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Would you pop in to remind us how you're not watching? It's quite possible. Guess you'll have to wait on the edge of your seat. :: waits ::
