Josh Barnett vs. Hidehiko Yoshida from Sengoku rocked 12 degrees of Heel Hook from the Babyfaced Assassin. Erik Paulson must've stroked one off when he saw Barnett put his knee on Yoshidas calf and cranked the toes. Plus, that backdrop was glorious. Ignoring the fact that Barnett got lit on his feet by Hidehiko fucking Yoshida, and had to go into round 3 with a guy who was spent mid-way through the first, it was a fine leg locky performance.

You forget that Barnett has also struggled to put away Yuki Kondo (despite mounting him the first), been outstruck by Takahashi, and his submission skills can at times be as awkward as the shoot fighters he constantly fellates.

Oh, and Barnett trying to figure out how to finish off a kneebar while Yoshida is literally to tired to do anything about was equal parts sad and humourous.

Yeah, but the Steve Williams back drop more than made up for that, IMO.

I don't know if I'd put it up as high as Yves Edwards jumping knee on Berto but good gravy Tom Watson upkicking the shit out of Pierre Guillet at the Cage Rage show last night will be high on my KO of The Year list come December.

Oh my god, that is totally my ko of the year. Fucking dude was in mid air.

Only Menjivar has pulled off a proper Homicide Backdrop Driver in MMA.

My coworker always lies about his personal experiences, and sometimes it spills over to the WWE and UFC (Of which the only 3 names he knows are Tank Abbott, Ken Shamrock, and Dan Severn) Oh yeah and all the Bill Goldburg MMA fights he has seen. Well last night he delivered a classic lie I had to share:

"I was watching Pros vs Joes and Kurt Angle was on there doing mma fights aganist the Joes and he won aganist all of them, until he got to the last guy. He lost to the last guy in 5 seconds cause the producers didn't check this guy's back ground.... It was Duke "The Dumpster" Drose, and Dumpster got trained in MMA by Bill Goldburg.

I managed not to laugh.

With this talk of Chuck moving up to heavyweight to fight Nog... I suppose this would be as good a time as any to say that I was wrong about him having the potential to fight at 185.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I always thought he looked small and out-of-shape next to Rampage.

I guess I was wrong.

Thiago Tavarez Vs. Matt Wiman is on for UFC 85... I think this will be a great fight, Wiman is always game and puts on a show... Tavarez dissapointed his last fight, but Wiman is the type of opponet who will bring the best out of Tavarez.

Hard fight for me to predict, I'm a fan of Wiman so I want him to win, but I feel Tavarez has more of an impressive skillset.

Despite what Joe Rogan would have people believe, Wiman hardly looked like a fuckbeast against Omigawa, and his stand-up got exposed pretty badly. I don't think there's a single area of the game that Wiman holds an advantage over Tavares.

It's not like Tavarez looked so great against Omigawa aswell... Both struggled against him, and both won very unimpressive desicions. Using that fight as an example to explain your case isn't really the right way to go about it.

Matt Wiman is always game, and is a tough opponet... Although Tavarez should win, he won't blow by Wiman with ease.

Well - they are a bit different.

Strikeforce is going to be showing clip shows at 1 AM Saturday night/Sunday morning. Not nearly the prime-time slot that CBS is giving EliteXC.

The difference is that Omigawa wasn't making Tavares look like a helpless nerd at any point in their matchup, while Wiman was simply eating punches at several points of their bout, the endpoint being that Wiman's striking is pretty mediocre, which I think Tavares can exploit. Add the fact that Wiman isn't likely to control the ground game, I think it makes the winner pretty easy to pick.

Filho is out of his rematch with Sonnen and in rehab for substance abuse!

#2 MW in the world, FTW.

Man, that card is hurting with the Rhino against Brian Stann being the only title match. If this ends up on the June card then that's a stacked card.

By the way, the guest on Inside MMA tonight... RAMPAGE. Yes!

Did anyone else catch the XFL show on HDnet last night?

There were some blue chip prospects on the card in Johnny Hendriks and Jake Rosholt and both looked pretty impressive. It won't be long before they are both fighting for big promotions.

DREAM 1 was also yesterday. Cro Cop had a big win (and quick win) but the main event was ruled a no-contest when JZ hit a series of illegal elbows on Aoki. I'd imagine it was a bit of a disappointment for their first effort.

People can argue whether they were intentional or not (and given what was at stake I doubt it) but there was no question that those elbows fucked Aoki up and illegally at that.

Robbie Lawler is improved... Much better then when he was in the UFC. I thought Frank Trigg was going to win a lay and pray desicion, but Robbie knocked him the fuck out. Same thing with Ninja.

So MMA agent Ken Pavia was on TAGG Radio yesterday and said that Chris Lytle (who he represents) will be fighting in the co-main of UFC 86 which has Forrest/Rampage as the headliner and that the fight would be against a "high-profile" welterweight. I'd say Hughes but they've already fought and with Diego/Fitch/GSP/Serra/Karo all tied up Koscheck is the only option left but even then as far as I know UFC hasn't re-signed him.

Not really. Outside of UFC 170 lbs. is pretty barren, Jake Shields is locked up with EliteXC and he'd be the only one I could think of. Possibly moving up Condit from WEC but he hasn't lost his title.

I can't see Lytle co-main eventing right now, considering he's not even a top 10 WW right now... I can see him on the main card, but co-main eventing? Nah...

Matt Serra, win or lose, is a possibility.

But then again, it's "the pav" talking. Who the fudge cares?

What has Chris Lytle done to earn a title shot, if Serra wins???

Better yet... Who the fuck wants to see Serra/Lytle fight again? That fight bored me to tears... Worst TUF finals ever.
