RE: Matt Hughes rapist rumors (circa mid 06):

http://www.nhbgear.com/forum/index.php/topic,66773.15.html

allegedly according to rumor who talked to a person in the militich camp 100% reliable source. matt broke into a team mates house and raped his wife. then showed up at training with a bible preaching about forgiveness. then dana came to town with goons and threatened her and paid her 200k or something and told her never to come back to town so she was in florida with her parents.

either way probably BS

TUF 4 (which I really liked) was about fighters that were good enough to make it to the UFC in the first place, and some did alright for themselves. They could do another comeback season maybe with heavyweights and light heavies maybe

Comeback makes sense if the guy was good but got injured or something. It's not good when the guy is just mediocre. The problem with the comeback concept is that most of the guys are too old to get significantly better, you are catching them towards the end of their careers. Young mediocre guys can improve, old mediocre guys just get worse.

Man, I'm going to OD on MMA soon enough. Between the last 3 weeks, EliteXC this weekend and the TUF Finale next I'm going insane. In a good way of course. Then we get a one-week repreive and after that it's Jackson/Griffin.

Better Dan Henderson performance?

- Knocking out Wanderlei

- Second fight with Nog where he escapes about 1000 close sub attempts before getting arm-barred in the 3rd.

I might be leaning towards the second. He was 194 for the fight with Nog, so giving up about 40 pounds and despite the fact that he lost he escaped about 50 submission attemps that 99.5% of MMA fighters would have called it quits on. I think Quadros and Bas called the fight "over" about 20 times. IIRC, Dan didn't even tap on the arm-bar... it was a ref stoppage.

Honestly I'd still go with KO'ing Wanderlei because he actually, know you, won the fight. But his 2nd fight with Nogueira was pretty impressive.

As for LOTC's comment above... yes this is the one month in like the last 10 years and probably the next 10 to come when I don't have cable or home internet. Lucky lucky me.

I'd say KO'ing Wanderlei, even though he did well against Nog I can't say somebody who was on the defensive for the majority of the fight impressed me more then being able to take down Wandy at will, take his knockout blows and return it in kind.

Well, Diaz beats Rani Yahya (6.6 lbs) & Chris Price (7lbs.) in terms of being ridiculously over the weight limit, though he still falls shy of Luigi Fioravanti's completely ludicrous showing against Hidetaka Monma (13.5+lbs).

Sherdog is reporting that the UFC is looking to put on a live TV special on July 19th headlined by Brandon Vera vs. Wanderlei Silva at 205.

July 19th is, of course, Fedor vs. Sylvia.

Don't fuck with Sleazy D creepy tattooed affliction guy.

The real winner: hardcore fans with DVR. I'll buy the PPV, record the Spike special and watch them back to back.

Umm...will Brandon Vera be ready for this? He just lost and has barely a month to train....

So, does "live TV special" = UFN? I really like that fight but if they're expecting people to tune in for one fight with such a loaded Affliction card I don't know how well that will go for them.
