RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 Do mma sanctioning bodies also think that marijuana is a performance 'enhancing' substance? Eddie Bravo swears by it, and rarely ever rolls or teaches without it. It's definitely not uncommon in the BJJ community, and I'm sure Lei Tong could throw out a few stories. Of course, this depends on if Diaz smoked before his fight, or a few days/weeks/etc before where it being in his system and him being high are two different things. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 Anderson Silva vs Nathan Marquardt is on for UFC 72. Andersons translator/manager Ed Soares has confirmed it to a reputable Brazilian website. Rumours also place Sean Sherk defending his LW title for the first time against Hermes Franca.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 Yeah yeah yeah. Lei Tong: 133 Rudo: 87 But this ain't a sprint, it's a marathon. And he had a torn leg! The entire leg was torn off! Fuck O'BORINGPIECEO'CRAP. Herring 4 Comeback~! In other CTDWAT News, I've been enjoying BODURGFIGHTS. The latests chick show was fine (not fine as in snapsnapsnap fine, but as in decent/ok/fine) viewin. Roxanne Modafferi gets tapped with a move that I could see myself tapping to, which gains her no respect. Kedzie looks bad against Buckner, and yet, still looks so good. vs. Winner of fight? Buckner. Winner of RRR's Pants? Kedzie. Real Winner? Kedzie. Sexton vs. Damm was ok. Nice, if not somewhat slow armbar from the bottom. RUBBERGUARD~! being used completely ineffectively (though I guess one -Eddie Bravo- could say it was used to -abstractly- set up the armbar). I am confused by Sexton. Part of me finds her adorable. Part of me finds that part of me confused. Fuck it. English Accent PHD Rubber Guard ADORABLE! Damm should have used that side flipping wheel kick. Capoeira is such a tease. Why can't you work as well as you do in Jean Claude Van Damme movies? jwpeer 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 Just FYI, Randy Couture is doing a live chat on espn.com at 1:30 pm. Kinda significant for MMA, that's one of the most mainstream moments for them, ever. Figured you guys would want to know.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2007 On Unleashed tonight, Josh Haynes vs. Rory Singer was one the bloodiest fights I have ever seen. RORY was COVERED in Joshes blood. "This is a horror movie" - Joe Rogan "You can't even see his blue hair any more" - Mike Goldberg "There's a flap of skin" - Big John The first time I have ever seen the UFC cut away to the crowd, there was so much blood at one point. I like Josh Haynes despite a lot of things about him. The man got heart. He got LEVELED with a high kick that spun his head around and had him collapse and he still kept going. GSP vs. Sherk and Franklin vs. Silva coming up next... can't complain!

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2007 Michael Bisping on Matt Hamills challenge. All I can say is "OH THAT'S HATEFUL". THE MATT FINISH You may have heard that a certain TUF 3 dropout was calling me out last week. To be honest, I really didn’t want to respond because that plays right into his hands by whipping up interest in a fight that I believe is a big step backwards for me. However, at the same time I don’t want anyone thinking I was afraid of this guy, either. The fighter in question - I forget his name - is a good wrestler but has no BJJ and couldn’t strike a match. He’s the one who produced the most embarrassingly amateurish performance of the entire season, where even though he won he couldn’t continue in the competition as he was so bashed up. Do you know who I’m on about? I can picture his face but still can’t remember his name but I remember personally sending this novice to the hospital with a busted arm and my mate Kendall Grove - a middleweight - knocked him silly with a high kick in sparring. I also recall that he went to the hospital three times during TUF 3 and each time came back to the TUF house with his tail between his legs. He spent more time in bandages than King Tut. But, now, he’s shouting my name in an obvious attempt to leap frog from his preliminary bout status to genuine PPV level. Sorry, pal, I won the TUF 3 three-year contract, thank you very much, so I don’t need a part time job running your PR office on the side. I’ve got a long way to go and a lot to prove in the UFC but - in terms of what I did during my TUF 3 run - I don’t think I’m being big-headed when I say my run to the TUF 3 title was pretty damn conclusive. I scored three consecutive knockouts without a scratch on me while this guy calling me out had one fight that looked like two drunks scrapping outside a kebab shop on a Friday night. For him to claim I’ve yet to prove I’m the real TUF 3 winner is pathetic.

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2007 Speaking of Bisping, they must really want to make him look good. His next fight is at UFC 70 against Elvis "5 straight losses in the UFC" Sinosic. The guy has a win over Jeremy Horn, no small task, but he hasn't done a single thing since.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2007 Bisping has put himself in enough compromising positions in the past that I think people might be overlooking Elvis's ground abilities here. Having said that, Bisping takes the fight but he almost got caught a few times against Schafer in December so don't be surprised to see Elvis pull off the upset here. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 http://www.dailymotion.com/torihada/video/...-gloverteixeira Sokoudjou vs. Glover
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 Speaking of Soko, (from TFN) SOKOUDJOU-ARONA ON THE TABLE Thierry Rameau Sokoudjou (3-1) has agreed to face Ricardo Arona (13-4) at April 8’s PRIDE 34 “Kamikaze,” scheduled for the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, according to a source close to the Cameroon native’s Team Quest camp. The 2001 U.S. Open Judo Champion stunned audiences with a 23-second dismantling of the heavily more seasoned Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (12-3) at Feb. 24’s PRIDE 33 in Las Vegas. The underestimated Sokoudjou was tagged as a +1600 underdog on betting lines that night. Sokoudjou is a pupil of recent double title-holder Dan Henderson, who captured the PRIDE Middleweight (under 205 lbs) title from Wanderlei Silva on the same night. Henderson will corner Sokoudjou in his second bid as unlikely underdog. HENDO’S CORNER Speaking of Dan Henderson, PRIDE’s winningest champion is on the move these days, filling his time as his broken hand heals for the next four to five months. “Hendo” will corner recent Team Quest acquisition Jason “Mayhem” Miller in his comeback bout against Team Wolfpack’s Hector Urbina at Icon’s March 31 event in Hawaii. Then the world traveler will be heading off to Japan a week before April 8’s event to attend Japanese fighter Ryo Chonan’s wedding. Henderson first met the Japanese middleweight in the PRIDE Bushido ring in Sept. 2005 with a KO punch. A friendship blossomed out of their mutual love of competition, and Chonan has visited Henderson’s Temecula, Calif. homebase numerous times since. Chonan is also rumored as a consideration for Henderson’s imminent IFL team in 2008.
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 PRIDE booking Arona versus Sokoudjou makes no sense, on any level, at all. Arona's one of their top MW's, Sokoudjou is a newcomer who is coming off a major win. Logic dictates that you put Arona against an established MW, and build Sokoudjou slowly up. Instead, ONE of them is going to be hurt from this. Arona is either going to get KO'd, or Sokoudjou is going to be exposed. PRIDE is deliberately booking to kill the drawing power of their guys in Japan. Scorched Earth tactics, if they go under they don't want anyone making money off their guys.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2007 I think it's more along the lines of "If Arona wins, it's a win to build for a match vs. Hendo, if Soko wins, though he shouldn't, Soko has another win over a top 10er." Since, I imagine, Nog vs. Soko was to build Nog for a Silva fight, I can see PRIDE not seeing that as an omen and going full ahead with Arona in Nogs place and Hendo in Silvas. Arona vs. Hendo as Hendos first defense is a great fight, though not a drawing one (Dan Henderson or Arona as a draw is something that my mind just can't process). Their first fight was tremendous, Arona deserves a shot after the Silva fiasco (though not as much as Shogun), and Soko to them is probably still more a fluke than anything. Arona beating Soko, who is a teammate of Hendo, is another benefit to the match. And even if Soko beats Arona, you run Hendo vs. Shogun and then Shogun vs. Soko. Maybe even Soko vs. Silva. The only negative is if Hendo keeps the title and Soko is the top contender, since odds are they won't fight each other (and if they do, that'd rock) This isn't the worst decision ever. Though I think Shogun vs. Hendo is a bigger fight, with Silva vs. Arona as an undercard #1 contender fight. PRIDE runs so few shows a year that they can't afford to build guys up as they "should" with Soko. Ideally, they'd have him fight 4 or 5 fights to build him as a contender. In PRIDE's world, that probably would take 2 years, and they might not be around at that time.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2007 UFC 70 (the one from England) is going to air on Spike TV instead of PPV in America. That's pretty cool. If this is old news, don't mock me too much; I just read it in the paper this past Sunday.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2007 What Silva fiasco are you referring to? Do you mean it was wrong for Arona to have not beaten him in the first place, or that him fucking up in America? Arona is so much of a worse style matchup for Soko this time around. He is just as powerful thanks to his milk, vitamins and prayers and a better wrestler than Lil Nog. Normally you'd think that the fact that he is hesitant on the feet would be a bad thing, but in this case it's actually an asset as he won't bother trying to stand up. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2007 Arona defeating Silva in non-title fashion, and Silva squeaking out the rematch that could have been debated either way. Last I checked Eddie doesn't roll or teach stoned at Legends MMA although he does still get high on weekends (he picks up chicks with more ease baked apparently) and goes to the occasional cannabis legalisation rally. The only times he rolls wasted are when he's working on techniques because he claims it helps him relax and look at options rather than overanalyse things and try to get one thing to work when it won't. I know a few guys out there that aren't averse to Mary Jane although some of them are more obvious ("Mayhem" Miller, BJ Penn, Cabbage, Ryan Gracie) than others ("Buscape" Firminho).
