The Amazing Rando Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 They wrestled them three weeks ago, didn't they?
DerangedHermit Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Pimpin' ain't easy. What the hell, is that Carlito?
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Pimpin' ain't easy. What the hell, is that Carlito? Yes.
Thanks for the Fish Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Atla..er..Ricky Ortiz must have won the coin flip. Seriously though, he looks more menacing, at least in that pic, without the Sideshow Bob hair. Bring up younger brother Eddie and Eric Perez and give him a faction.
Dandy Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Did they switch the name to Ricky Ortiz? I wasn't paying attention and I haven't watched ECW the past few weeks.
Spaceman Spiff Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Changing hairstyles doesn't make Carlito any less shitty.
DrVenkman PhD Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Did they switch the name to Ricky Ortiz? I wasn't paying attention and I haven't watched ECW the past few weeks. Yes. Basically, they signed Tony Atlas and realized they had to change Atlas The Bone's name to Ricky (as previously discussed, his real name is Rich).

Kofi can pretend to be Jamaican and Armando can pretend to be Cuban because wwe doesn't travel to either, however unless "Ricky Ortiz" is legitimately Latino, I think it will be a problem with Spanish speaking fans. Also why not Ricardo Ortiz? Hell Rico Ortiz would sorta sound like Tito Ortiz (a la Bam Neely and Kenny Dykstra)...
Thanks for the Fish Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Changing hairstyles doesn't make Carlito any less shitty. I agree. But it could signal the characters attitude change. Carly much prefers to play a heel, also if he is more serious without the hair that could help his in-ring work.

This is a fan base that typically doesn't care about the accuracy of a character's race.
DrVenkman PhD Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Except for The Rock, but we won't get into that again...

This is a fan base that typically doesn't care about the accuracy of a character's race. I think Latin Americans might care more than others though. I could very well be wrong. Hell he could very well be of Mexican descent. I don't think the wwe would give him the last name Ortiz otherwise, and he was born and raised in Arizona.

He was "representing" Japan because that's where Sumo is big and obviously where Mr. Fuji is from, but the wrestler himself was billed as being from the Polynesian Islands - one of which is the island of Samoa.
geniusMoment Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Was Kamala actually from the dark jungles of Uganda?

Movies have people from different racial backgrounds play a character from a different racial background, whats wrong with the WWE doing it? Al Pacino isn't really Cuban/Puerto Rican, but he did a fine job in both Scarface and Carlito's Way. You know how many times they get Andy Garcia, whom is of Cuban descent to play an Italian-American character? How about Jeffrey Wright, who is of African-American background, but has been casted in roles where he played Hispanic characters. Not to mention how many caucasian actors have been casted as Mexicans... Either way, I don't think people should be really complaining about this issue.
Scroby Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Marc Mero's black, right? I think that's a question that can never be answered.

luke-o Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Was Kamala actually from the dark jungles of Uganda? Was The Ultimate Warrior actaully from Parts Unknown?
DrVenkman PhD Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Indy wrestler Psycho Sailor was from "Ports Unknown".
Obi Chris Kenobi Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Undertaker moved from Death Valley to Texas at some point in his life, wonder what his mortgage is like now
Lt. Al Giardello Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I'm still trying to look for Dudleyville on the map...
Diamonddust Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I've always thought being from "Anywhere He Darn Well Pleases", like Sid was, would be quite complicated for the mailman and other services.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Im waiting for Domino to move to "on the tracks" and become a hobo.

ChrisMWaters Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 I'm still trying to look for Dudleyville on the map... It's where the WCW Special Forces used to be.
Dobbs 3K Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Yeah, it's across the river from "The Outer Reaches of Your Mind."
