Did they switch the name to Ricky Ortiz? I wasn't paying attention and I haven't watched ECW the past few weeks.

Yes. Basically, they signed Tony Atlas and realized they had to change Atlas The Bone's name to Ricky (as previously discussed, his real name is Rich).

Is Rich Young even Latino? Kofi can pretend to be Jamaican and Armando can pretend to be Cuban because wwe doesn't travel to either, however unless "Ricky Ortiz" is legitimately Latino, I think it will be a problem with Spanish speaking fans. Also why not Ricardo Ortiz? Hell Rico Ortiz would sorta sound like Tito Ortiz (a la Bam Neely and Kenny Dykstra)...

Rodney Anoa'i wasn't Japanese but that didn't stop them from Yokozuna. This is a fan base that typically doesn't care about the accuracy of a character's race.

I think Latin Americans might care more than others though. I could very well be wrong. Hell he could very well be of Mexican descent. I don't think the wwe would give him the last name Ortiz otherwise, and he was born and raised in Arizona.

Yokozuna was never billed as being from Japan. He was "representing" Japan because that's where Sumo is big and obviously where Mr. Fuji is from, but the wrestler himself was billed as being from the Polynesian Islands - one of which is the island of Samoa. ;)

Whats your point? Movies have people from different racial backgrounds play a character from a different racial background, whats wrong with the WWE doing it?

Al Pacino isn't really Cuban/Puerto Rican, but he did a fine job in both Scarface and Carlito's Way. You know how many times they get Andy Garcia, whom is of Cuban descent to play an Italian-American character? How about Jeffrey Wright, who is of African-American background, but has been casted in roles where he played Hispanic characters. Not to mention how many caucasian actors have been casted as Mexicans...

Either way, I don't think people should be really complaining about this issue.

Especially when there's a precedent for it in the past. Scott Hall/Razor Ramon anyone?
