AboveAverage484 Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Kind of forgot it was my pick. Anyway: JON FITCH I don't feel like looking for a pic
Mik Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 By the way we're still doing weight classes. I'll take care of it.
Cuban Linx Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Providing my team with a plentiful dose of anime and steroids, one of the few top heavyweights remaining: Josh Barnett
Dr. Zoidberg Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Posted July 9, 2008 By the way we're still doing weight classes. I'll take care of it. Thanks, Mik.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 he looked good tossing Serra around (then again, tossing somebody who is almost half your size will always look good). How about out wrestling, Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, Karo Parisyan... Are they half of GSP's size? But what can he do AFTER he takes Diego down? He can't roll with Diego and if Diego wants to get back up, I'm sure with his scrambling ability, he will. Maintain top position and ground + pound, like Jon Fitch did. Diego had problems sweeping Fitch... GSP is a stronger wrestler then Diego. Diego has always had good, crisp striking. Thing was, he looked so out of place doing it. But against Luigi, he looked very comfortable and threw in some kicks and knees. GSP doesn't have the power to knock him out, can't pound him out on the ground, and more than likely, won't catch Diego in a submission. His striking is not as explosive as GSP, nor does he have the one punch KO power like Matt Serra does to knock out GSP... GSP would pick apart Diego on the feet. Like I said, Diego's striking looked good against Luigi... But when has Luigi ever been known as a stand up fighter instead of a wrestler with very basic stand up? I never said GSP would have trouble taking Diego down. I know he'll be able to do it. But I don't believe he'll be able to GNP Diego. I haven't seen the Diego/Fitch fight, but everything else I've seen out of Diego, he's explosive on the ground and has good submission and scramble ability. On the feet, I think its a toss up. Neither fighter has the power to really knock the other one out, but both are very fluid and crisp. I'll give GSP the wrestling and a slight advantage standing, but I think Diego would be able to catch a submission from the bottom (or top). Another question I have is how is GSP's ability on his back? If Diego were to mount him, would St. Pierre be able to defend and/or regain control? I don't know about that one, either.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 It's been well over 24 hours... Mik, you go...
Dr. Zoidberg Posted July 12, 2008 Author Report Posted July 12, 2008 Sorry, I never got a PM. I gotta take a Gracie. Royce Gracie
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Arlovski looks pimp in that picture.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 CCB's time is up... KOAB, you're up.
Cuban Linx Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I take Hellboy and his knees of doom. Joachim Hansen (Lightweight)
starvenger Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 I thought we were doing all time though. Besides which, I'd get a kick out of someone drafting the only guy (I think) that was in BOTH the original UFC game and Virtual Pro Wrestling...
Mik Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Only three rounds left guys let's finish it out.
starvenger Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 It's been way over 24 hours, so I'm picking: Vladimir Matyushenko
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 I need a Middleweight, so I'm gonna travel up north and take The Athlete. #5 - Jason "The Athlete" McDonald And to start the sixth round, I'm going to take someone who has had only one pro-MMA fight, but in my opinion, is the best grappler in the world. #6 - Marcelo Garcia
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 After you make your pick, I assume so. It is a new round. If he doesn't make his pick in 24 hours, should we think about taking him out?
starvenger Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 I PMed him telling to make his pick for the previous round. If I don't see anything within a reasonable amount of time (given the speed of this draft, that means this evening) I'll go ahead and pick.
AboveAverage484 Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Sorry, I've been out of town and really busy. ROBBIE LAWLER
starvenger Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 I think Ace and Chuck were taken off the board when someone dropped out but had already taken them. Rich's buddy Jorge "Gary" Gurgel is still available though...

Rich's buddy Jorge "Gary" Gurgel is still available though... Oh yeah, my bad. They should still be up so as to avoid confusion. I'll edit my initial post with a different pick.
