Matt Young Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I hear Bon Jovi. Must mean it's game time.
naiwf Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 We're only two batters into the game and those cowbells have already gotten annoying. It's worst than the Rally Monkey/Thunderstix era Angels. I almost want the Rays to lose now just so I don't have to hear that throughout the playoffs.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 It's playoff baseball (yay) ...but it's at Tropicana Field (boo)
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Now Mohawk fever has swept Tampa Bay. They need to be swept out of the playoffs. Also, that dome is ugly.
Matt Young Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Crap... Now I've got to watch my friend's 10 year old kid during the game.
Matt Young Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 And apparently, he's going to learn the word "fuck" today.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Guillen and Pierzynski vs. the Dome: Which one do people want to see less
naiwf Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Now THAT sounds more like the Tampa Bay fans we all know and loathe.
naiwf Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 In the same way that Marlins fans are. Those stadiums are ghost towns whenever the teams aren't in contention, but then suddenly all of the "die hards" come out of hiding when it's time for a playoff run. That Longoria kid is pretty good.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I don't exactly hate bandwagon fans because they might still go to games after the post season. Plus, would you want to see an empty dome on television.
treble Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 In the same way that Marlins fans are. Those stadiums are ghost towns whenever the teams aren't in contention, but then suddenly all of the "die hards" come out of hiding when it's time for a playoff run. Are they supposed to sell out every game when their team has been historically shitty? You have to give fans a reason to come out to the ballpark in the first place, especially when it's a place like the Trop. I don't see it as a reason to hate the fanbase when the Rays have never done a good job at being able to build one up in the first place.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Which leads to another argument. If the ownership doesn't care, should the fans care about the team? The Rays ownership has been trying do its best to build up the fan base.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Apparently AJ's been taking hairstyling tips from Guy Fieri
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 This Sox defense is proving my concern for them playing at Tropicana Field. Brutal. Pitching isn't much better either.
Just John Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Just out of curiosity, why do people here always look for reasons to hate these non-established playoff teams? This year it's the Rays, last year was the Rockies, and I found more Astro haters in 2005 here than anywhere else in my entire life (including living in Cardinal country at Mizzou).
Slayer Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Go look at the TWIB after the White Sox won their playoff spot and then tell me which team people here hate more
Just John Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I don't know many people who like the White Sox. I'm just surprised to see any Rays hate, especially since they seemed like a popular feel-good story before and during the season.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I don't hate the Rays... although, along the line of what Cheech said, my opinion is subject to change at any time for any reason I do, however, hate their park
Dobbs 3K Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 They hate their park too, which is why they're building a new one.
the max Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Now Mohawk fever has swept Tampa Bay. They need to be swept out of the playoffs. Also, that dome is ugly. They're calling them Ray-hawks.
Cheech Tremendous Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Now Mohawk fever has swept Tampa Bay. They need to be swept out of the playoffs. Also, that dome is ugly. They're calling them Ray-hawks. More like Gay-hawks, amirite?
Cheech Tremendous Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 More like Gay-hawks, amirite? hi 5 bro
RepoMan Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 By the time everyone is playing in a Camden Yards clone, I'm going to miss "shitty" ballparks like the Trop, Metrodome, and Shea, ect.
