King Kamala 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2008 Yeah, I think it should be narrowed down to a one a piece with play-in rounds determining which song gets in for the heavyweights (Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Beach Boys, etc.)

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Ok, I took out some of the Dylan myself, some of the lesser known ones. I'm not going to tell someone their pick doesn't belong, but if anyone wants to disput then feel free, if a few people don't feel like a song belongs then it probably doesn't. 105 songs (I added 5 more at the end myself that I don't think will be disputed). We can go ahead and do 128, but one that big will take me a little while to count up the first couple rounds, so you'll have to be patiant with me. I also plan on doing 100% random match ups, set up a bracket and then stick with it. I don't really want to take the time for a British one, and an R&B one. I think random is the way to go. There are going to be great songs at both ends. I have no agenda to set up song vs song. I don't want to take the time of doing play ins for the Beatles and Dylan and artists like that. Truth be told they have a ton more songs that deserve to be in, but are not. Since it's going to be 128 there's room for that. PLEASE let me know if I've repeated a song Arnold Layne -- Pink Floyd God Only Knows -- The Beach Boys A Day in the Life -- The Beatles Like a Rolling Stone -- Bob Dylan Heroin -- The Velvete Underground Are You Lonesome Tonight? -- Elvis Presley Only The Lonely -- Roy Orbison Runaway -- Del Shannon Can't Help Falling In Love -- Elvis Presley Sealed With A Kiss -- Brian Hyland Ring Of Fire -- Johnny Cash Viva Las Vegas -- Elvis Presley Oh, Pretty Woman -- Roy Orbison The House Of The Rising Sun -- the Animals Unchained Melody -- Righteous Brothers California Dreamin' -- Mamas and the Papas Sounds of Silence -- Simon and Garfunkle My Way -- Frank Sinatra Suspicious Minds -- Elvis Presley Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In -- the 5th Dimension In The Year 2525 -- Zager and Evans Stand By Me -- Ben E. Henry Spencer 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 The Witch and Psycho -- The Sonics This is two different songs. If pressed, I would choose The Witch out of the two, and since someone else nominated it as well, presumably they agree. Also, I second Alone Again Or. Kinetic 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 "I am a Lonesome Hobo" being the song to represent John Wesley Harding doesn't sit quite right with me. There might be five songs on that album that I like better. "As I Went Out One Morning" or "All Along the Watchtower" or "Dear Landlord." Even "I Pity the Poor Immigrant" or "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight." And "Masters of War" over, say, "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." Don't know about that. From that album, I'd say either that one or "Blowin' in the Wind" or "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright."
