Greatest song of the 60s nomination thread

Recommended Posts

I'll take charge of it if people want to get it going.

Probably a 32 or 64 bracket. We all know the rules, don't nominate too many things at once, let others get votes in. And any songs that are disputed are subject to being removed.

if this takes off I'll set it up

...dude...cut that down and let a few others get in first

I'm adding "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King

And let's be sure to wiki this stuff as you're nominating so there are no wrong decades. And add artist names with the songs.

I'd second all of Richard's nominees and add "Waterloo Sunset" and "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks and "I Can't Explain" by the Who.

I'll limit myself to three

The Four Tops- "Reach Out, I'll Be There"

The Temptations- "(I Know) I'm Losing You"

Donovan- "Hurdy Gurdy Man"

One of these things is not like the others.

I picked 16 songs out of a list of 500 songs of the top 50 for each year. Fuck it.

I think Brody forgot Orbision's best, so I will include it in my short list of suggestions:

"Crying" (Roy Orbison)

"Come See About Me" (The Supremes)

"Respect" (Aretha Franklin)

"Unchain My Heart" (Ray Charles)

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell)

"My Generation" (The Who)
