NFL Week 16

It'd be awesome if the Lions organization rallied around Marinelli over this whole stupid thing and decided to keep him around for another year.

Man, the sports world has really been knocked on its ass by a guy basically saying a message board post out loud.

If you think using complex vocabulary

deleterious

Guy's got a point, Czech.

I bet Czech just got done playing Scrabble earlier and felt like a rousing round of boarding hard as usual.

Just looking at the stats, I feel bad for Aaron Rodgers considering how well he's played this year (Team win wise)...

Rodgers: 296/466 for 3,470 and 23 TD vs. 12 INT. 214 rushing and 4 TD.

B. Favre: 323/482 for 3,239 and 21 TD vs. 19 INT. 43 rushing and 1 TD (Stats updated through yesterday).

Hey VX, are there still Green Bay fans wondering what the season'd be like if Favre stayed or have they accepted that Aaron's a really good QB playing on a team with a poor run game and poor defense?

Is Aaron Rodgers a gunslinger who is just having fun out there? I haven't seen too many Packers games this year.

2 for 1! I've talked a lot about this over the past few weeks, but yes in essence, if you read a lot of Wisconsin sports media (which I get linked to through Yahoo! Sports, so I read what they have to say) there's still a lot of people who point to Favre's departure as the biggest reason why the Jets are winners and the Packers, well, aren't.

I think the argument against Aaron has come like this- He hasn't shown the ability to come back when the team has needed him the most in all of those close losses. In many of those close games the Pack's lost this year, the offense has had the ball within the 2 minute mark and a single touchdown would've produced a win. What's happened?

2nd-2, GB48 0:40 R. Nelson intercepted A. Rodgers for no gain

2nd-10, GB17 1:09 J. Beason intercepted A. Rodgers for no gain

2nd-10, TB40 2:12 G. Adams intercepted A. Rodgers for 5 yards

So in that respect, yes, he has very much been a gunslinger who just likes to have fun havin' fun out there. However, as you've shown, he's definitely put up very good numbers this year as a first year starter and I've likened him a lot to Philip Rivers or Jay Cutler's first year starting in the league. All three of them came up in the league behind veteran QBs and except for Rivers, had a fairly rough time of it their first year. At this point, I think Rodgers is probably falling somewhere in between those other two QBs, which is still a really good sign for Green Bay, but the Packers have a lot of work ahead of them. Like snuffy and Kahran have mentioned, I wouldn't even be surprised at seeing the Packers "spoil" the Lions' imperfect season- people will remember that in Week 2 against Detroit, they very nearly made a comeback against Green Bay until Jon Kitna threw like 2-3 pick sixes in the 4th quarter. The defense has been really bad this year, and I think part of that has been injuries and a lot of that has been the players we've selected. A lot of people are pissed with Ted Thompson not just because of trading Favre, but like me who are really pissed that a 2nd round pick was totally wasted on Brian Brohm and yet another was wasted on Matt Flynn in the 7th. Even signing Gus Frerotte would've helped, considering that the Vikings would have been forced to play Tarvaris Jackson the whole year in all likelihood without a tested veteran QB behind him.

Next year, though, we get Barnett, Jenkins, and Bigby all back and healthy plus at the very least a decent enough first round pick which we could preferably use on something more worthwhile than a guy like Justin Harrell.

Actually from what I gather, there's a chance of Ford keeping Marinelli around anyways. He's already said he's probably going to keep the GM and Chief Operating Office around next year (link).

If they play their cards right and stay the course- they might go overfeated next year and fully satisfy Kahran Ramus' requirements for "worst team ever"

Don't forget that Brett Favre is always around to give the Lions helpful hints on how to beat the Packers. "Okay, guys, here's what you do, let them run it a few times, set up some short passes, so that dumbass redneck at quarterback gets overexcited and lobs a big interception at you. Oh wait. Crap." See, now there's a bit: Brett Favre's Expired Intelligence Briefings.

Bwahaha fake punt!

Why not? Nothing else to play for. And a touchdown! Chicago makes me

My god, every defensive player looks slow and out of position in that Darren Sproles highlight they keep showing. Brings the bile right back up to the tip of my throat.

Speaking of things that make me want to vacate the contents of my stomach: Chicago's offense.

It hasn't been a good year for the Packers to say the least, but if we end up knocking the Bears out of the playoffs at least something good will come out of it.

Yeah, you'll stick it to your rivals...by clinching a division championship for your other rivals. Meatball. Moreover, you don't dwell in a state that borders Lake Michigan, therefore you probably don't come into contact with many Bears fans--nor Packers fans--so really, any "GRAW TAKE THAT BEARS!" stuff is posturing.

The Bears look really awful tonight, though. No apologies here.

Wow, Czech working with the "Well you don't live here so you can't gloat!" angle. You fucking dolt. Furthermore, the ones who were gloating last week about us being eliminated were the Bears fans, not the Viking fans on the board. It's pretty nice to be able to have our favorite team go down to Soldier Field and work on eliminating your teddy Bears from the playoffs, regardless of what happens with Minnesota (who is probably one and done anyways in the playoffs and, excepting a last minute FG miss, the Packers would've also swept this year).

Game's not over yet, anyways.

I'll give Chicago meatballs this: Your special teams are good. And you're also good served with some grilled bell peppers and onions, with a bit of marinara sauce and parmesan on a roll.

In a chatroom:

hester sucks at anything except "hold ball run fast"

That's the kind of shit that'll make his returns weaker later in the game, which is kinda bad when your offense blows. Chicago is kinda retarded.

Kahran: how would this win get them closer to a championship?

Plus, it's a small amount of consolation considering there hasn't been much to be happy about especially since the last time we beat the Bears.
