The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 But without us most of the country would have nothing... who's the first they come to when they need to take some money and not borrow from other countries? California. To hate us, is to hate America.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 31, 2008 If there's one thing I've learned about living up here, it's that Pacific Northwesters hate Californians. No way we could be enticed to join that republic when OR, WA, and British Columbia have more in common and have even seen "Cascadia" secession efforts. Bring Alaska into the mix too. Viva Cascadia! We don't need a housing market when we can all live in yurts! But unfortunately, you'd need California because of our agriculture and economy, otherwise you guys would die Economy, yes probably (with the exception of maybe Seattle and our tech industries- there's Microsoft up in Redmond and they don't call Portland the Silicon Forest for nuthin') but you're way off on the agriculture. We have one of the most fertile lands in the country with the Willamette Valley, which is one of the benefits of all that rain we get, and Washington's not too bad in that regard either. In fact, agriculture is actually one of the top industries in the state of Oregon. Agriculture is the second largest industry in Oregon behind technology, accounting for over $4 billion dollars annually in direct farm input (1) and over $11 billion dollars in total economic activity to the state. (2) Nine percent of Oregon's jobs are connected to agriculture. (3) Approximately 9.5 % of Oregon's gross state product (GSP) is attributable to agriculture. (4) Agriculture is not just a major component of Oregon's rural economy. The majority of the Port of Portland's total tonnage of exports, about sixty percent, is agriculture sourced from Oregon and other states. (5) Source The "other states" in question are likely Idaho and Washington. But yeah, you should probably look up a thing or two before boasting about your adopted homeland's agricultural importance although, of course.. other lesser states do depend on California quite a bit in that regard. But Cascadia doesn't need any stinkin' Californian food! We'll gladly import as many beautiful women as possible, though. That's Cali's best global export. Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 Why would you guys create a new country if it didn't include Hollywood? They'd have Canada's Hollywood up in Vancouver... and it's SAG free! But without us most of the country would have nothing... who's the first they come to when they need to take some money and not borrow from other countries? Didn't Ahnold recently ask the feds for a loan up to seven billion?

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 31, 2008 http://www.lao.ca.gov/2006/cal_facts/2006_calfacts_econ.htm $31 billion in real farm production in 2006 for California. California also has way more people it would need to feed (not to mention production costs are higher there than over here). 32,805,760 more in fact, according to 2007 figures. Consider how that breaks down if you need a sustainable agricultural economy. You guys would likely be trying to buy food from mighty Cascadia, although when winter comes around it would definitely go the other way around.
