Lord of The Curry Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 "That Mik guy? Fuck him. Happy birthday motherfucker. Enjoy the card."- Dana
Mik Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 And can I just mention that while the main event is not really a main event this is an absolutely outstanding free TV show.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Agreed. Hardy/Markham could be a FOTYC, Marquardt murdering Gouveia will be fun and hopefully Koscheck continues to impress. Oh, and Sonnen's lunch money getting taken by Maia.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Why is JdS on the undercard after that knock out of Werdum?
Lord of The Curry Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Yeah, that doesn't make much sense to me. That would've been like putting Werdum on the undercard after TKO'ing Gonzaga.
Youth N Asia Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I recall starting the thread with the same headline and everything, but no no, it's yours
Lord of The Curry Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 I gots clout* round hyah. * = Photo's of Mik, a bottle of tequila, a monkey wearing a sombrero and two goats.
Mik Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Tis the way it goes now. Whoever posted the oldest thing on the show in the Upcoming Fights thread is automatically made thread starter when I move the posts in here. The forum automatically gives ownership of the thread to the earliest chronological post. LotC is doing a lot of the posting in the Upcoming Fights thread so a lot of these show threads will have his name on them.
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Maybe they are letting JdS build up and have time to develop. It's weird to see them do that with a heavyweight, though. Usually they rush those guys up the ladder.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Or this is all just a smokescreen to allow Stefan Struve his chance to break out.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 9, 2009 Author Report Posted January 9, 2009 NEIL GROVE VS JUSTIN MCCULLY Truly this is a glorious day for the HW division.
Lei Tong Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 It's not McCully's fault he gets to fight guys with no ground skills.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 I'm sick of your McCully love, Tong. It's tearing this board apart.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 He's Tito's roommate... Of course Tong is gonna back him.
The Niggardly King Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Is McCully good at all? I mean, I've seen this guy get outworked and gas in sparring sessions on RVD's webshow with Rob and SAMOA JOE. I've never actually sat down and watch the man fight, but to see him start sucking wind just dicking around with Joe on the mat... he sucks shit, right?
Lord of The Curry Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 Well, he beat Eddie Sanchez and Hardonk but those guys suck so yeah, he sucks.
The Niggardly King Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Nonsense, Hardonk is on the brink of breaking into the upper echelon of the division
Lt. Al Giardello Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Wait until he faces someone with a ground game. I bet Cheick Kongo could even submit Hardonk.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 Velasquez, Carwin, Gonzaga, Noguiera, Dos Santos Mir, Couture, Lesnar. All guys that would tool Hardonk. He's not close to anything. Hell, Mir already did.

I've never actually sat down and watch the man fight, but to see him start sucking wind just dicking around with Joe on the mat... he sucks shit, right? McCully actually has some skill on the mat, but is nowadays just an overweight journeyman who gets by on the fact that there's no shortage of guys floating around in the UFC with no ground games whatsoever.
starvenger Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Velasquez, Carwin, Gonzaga, Noguiera, Dos Santos Mir, Couture, Lesnar. All guys that would tool Hardonk. He's not close to anything. Hell, Mir already did. Of course, if you let Hardonk kick you in the leg a few times, all bets are off. He has no real ground game, but he'll chop you down if you let him.
Lei Tong Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Eh. That's kind of like saying "If you let Gonzaga take you down and mount you, he can beat you." Hardonk still gets too much credit for being a one-dimensional striker who's actually limited in that dimension as well.
starvenger Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Yet, people are still willing to let him kick them in the leg. Who's the bigger idiot in that case?
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Two weeks. Nothing spectacular, but a solid card for free TV.
Lord of The Curry Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 I'm more excited for this then I was for free cards like 89 or Fight for The Troops. Hardy/Markham could be a banger, Marquardt vs Gouveia should be fun and Maia owning Team Quest fighters like it's going out of style.
Lord of The Curry Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 So what are the odds that if Joe loses he'll be cut? UFC rarely cuts TUF stars, much less winners but if he drops one to Diego that will be three out of Joe's last four fights. They have cut top contenders after much less (Werdum comes to mind) but Joe is a bigger name. Suffice to say if he loses this weekend he's out of the title picture forever and if UFC decides to keep him around they're risking him beating guys they want to groom for a title shot. If he's kept around he'll be sitting on prelims for a fight or two, minimum.

Yeah, this is the most I've been pumped for a free card since UFC 75.
