Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 People you saw when you were out somewhere. Oh, wow, you saw a senator. So did I, on C-Span. The only exception to this is the time someone called me at 2 in the morning to tell me that Matthew Lesko, the "get free money!" guy with the goofy suits, was hammered and repeatedly trying to grab a woman's ass outside a bar in downtown DC. Add another one for cars, too. I'll puke if anyone brings up "hemi" in my presence.
luke-o 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 London. I'm with you on that one. I'm fairly certain you have to pass some sort of "asshole test" if you want to live there. Fashion - My girlfriend loves it, I really couldn't give a shit about Chanel or Lois Verton or any of that shit. Sex and The City - fucking pointless show and a fucking pointless movie. World of Warcraft - the biggest waste of time on the planet. Cars - don't get the intrest. I watch Top Gear for the comedy but when the talk about cars I tend to turn off. luke-o 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 I really don't think London is exciting. It has good live venues, but then so does Oxford and Manchester. Don't get me wrong, I don't think anywhere in the UK is all that exciting, but at least there not full of pretentious wankers (although I'm sure you're an exception). garfieldsnose 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Alcohol. I don't drink often, and when I do it's either shots, mixed drinks, or Mike's Hard whatever. I only like drinking drinks that taste good. Most alcohol doesn't to me. When I go to a party, my friend tries to get me to drink everything and then talks about what he's drank before. I don't care, bro. You my best friend and all, but I couldn't care less what you like, mang. By the way, I'm not one of those antisocial sober people at parties, I can act just as fucked up sober as others do drunk. garfieldsnose 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 It's funny because these two friends I have weren't the alcohol type that everyone our age was around 19, 20. When my one friend turned 21, he started drinking a lot and hasn't stopped. He became much more of a dick and I don't speak to him as much anymore, but I know he's still there and still one of my best friends cuz we would do anything for each other. The other friend, who I cited in my last post, never talked much about alcohol until after he got a girlfriend, who isn't even 21 yet, who gets trashed at parties and can't stand up on her own. Now my friend parties way more than he did before, and swears he doesn't get drunk when he obviously acts different than he does when sober. He's one of those guys who would kick my ass if I told him he was drunk and I was driving cuz he believe he never gets drunk. Luckily, my gf has a seizure disorder and can't drink more than one glass of alcohol per four days or else she'd be dead. Go seizure disorders!

the max 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 98% of the channels on tv. Cars. Again, the beer commercialization of everyone has it ingrained that all men are gearheads. I know how to put gas in a car, I have a vague idea of how to change a tire. Other than that, I have a cell phone and the numbers of people who know how to fix cars. Celebrities. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Besides all the other aspects of guy culture previously mentioned (cars, football, etc.) that I'm not that interested in, strip clubs is right up there. I have nothing against naked women (at least not as often as I'd like) and it's not a moral high ground (though I often act like it is), I just hate being nagged and pestered or spoken to. Dance on stage and shut up, I don't want you begging me for money for a private dance. Cover charges and overpriced drinks are things I can do without too (though since I'm not a big drinker, that doesn't matter that much). I suppose I could have just said "clubs" or bars in general - people acting up, crowding small floor spaces... the whole deal. Not my thing. A lot of that comes from my introverted anti-social nature. To tie the two together, I have a good group of friends who enjoyed both of the above (especially since one worked as a DJ at two different local clubs and now works the bar at Zanzibar in Toronto) and I rarely tagged along with them. If they went to pick the DJ friend up after his shift, I waited in the car. They left a party to go to a strip club in June, I patiently waited for them to return for the poker tournament. Whenever another friend in the Niagara region has a big BBQ, he always excitedly gets people to go to some nearby club while I stay at the house and watch something from his DVD collection. Now, we DID have various random weekend and/or going away parties that brought us to bars/clubs in 2007 that I quite enjoyed and while I've probably described myself as a boring person, I can actually be pretty funny and outgoing when I'm with a large group of people I know / am getting to know and have had some mixed drinks in me. This is really the exception to the rule though - if one dude were to say "let's go to the bar tonight!", I'd have to pass. If a GROUP of people planned an outing (meaning I'd likely always be able to be around someone I knew), I'd be for that. I much prefer house parties though. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Alcohol. I don't drink. Never have. I don't care what funny thing you did when you were drunk. If I want to hear about it, it better be from someone else as second-hand gossip because at least then I can laugh about you behind your back for being a moron. Actually, people with stories about being drunk in general isn't so bad as the people who tell you just how wasted they got to try and impress you. Going out and drinking, okay, good for you. Going out to get drunk, not impressive in the slightest. Especially if it's in advance, telling me you plan to get so drunk you don't remember a thing the next day. I don't get it. Why not tell me you don't remember anything the next morning. It'd be a shorter conversation. And therefore better. Cars. Don't know, don't care. Movies. In general, I don't watch movies. Whether it's a poor attention span or what, I dunno, but I've watched so few movies in my entire life and not all of them were throug advance choice. So people who try and discuss movies I haven't watched are really wasting their time because unless it's amazingly good I'm not going to follow up on it. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 God, you people are insufferable. I don't like to talk about this! I don't want to talk about that! What do you want to talk about? Wrestling? Porn? Must be a devil with the ladies.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Porn doesn't interest me all that much as a conversation topic. It's okay to watch, I guess, but some of those threads down in LSD are insane. Wrestling is probably another one, so that makes me the opposite of what Nighthawk said there. Oh, cars too. Lots of drivers here, not a lot of people who know how to fix them, though. Interesting. I'm not as big into bikes as a lot of people I know, but they're a heck of a lot easier to work on, apparently. Ah and that reminds me- gas prices. I don't care how much it costs to fill up your giant truck now that oil is getting more expensive. It's not like it was something you weren't aware of when you bought them. Aside from that, I can pretty much talk about anything else. I have a pretty wide variety of interests.
FroGG_NeaL 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 ha! I don't like talkin' cars, if i'm helping somebody out then I pay attention. I'm an artist so i visualise everything i hear. If somebody shows me how to do something, I'm good to go. I can memorize that shit. But if you just, say, told me how to play a card game and we didnt have cards present, I wouldn't be able to understand the shit. I've gotta see somebody doing something like that, and then I can replicate it. I like to learn new things, how to do things, so I'm down for doin' shit all the time. I can have a conversation with anybody. If they start talkin' nonsense, then I just change the subject to somethin else that i think/know that this paticular person will wanna talk about.
