King Kamala Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Nice pickup, Garth. He's been on my list of potential draft picks for the last three or four rounds.
tominator89 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 The last few picks have played out almost exactly like I thought they would. I didn't think these guys would last much longer. The last two picks were the most difficult ones I've had thus far. I wanted Lance Storm for my Calgary promotion and the run on tag teams made it a perfect fit, but I lost out on some solid upper card guys. I'm assuming that a number of the tag teams will be completed this round, leaving me wondering who might slip to me in the next round.
Garth Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I feel like both Shelley & Aries went really early. Wrestling is pretty subjective though so people might value them more highly than I see them. Don't get me wrong though, love both guys.
TheFranchise Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I feel like Shelley went really early. This is true.
King Cucaracha Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Depends on what you're looking for, I suppose. But yeah, there's a TON of bigger draws still left, is I think the point you're making.
Garth Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 You're only saying that because you wanted to get your dirty mitts on him.

King Kamala Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Again, this is why I find the middle rounds (from about Round 4 to Round 12 or so) most fascinating. The last few rounds have been filled with a ton of steals and headscratchers (though not ones of Drury like proportions), sometimes one after another). Again, it's all so subjective.
Maztinho Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Nothing will top the WTFness of Drury's draft past like the 3rd round.
Garth Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I definitely think Kane has been one of the biggest steals recently, as someone who has been a top guy in THE promotion for what, 11 years now? That's a damn good pick up in my book.

That's a damn good pick up in my book. Yeah, he fell to teh 7th last time didn't he? I think it's mainly because he sorta gets lost in the shuffle All-Time, which is a shame because gimmick wise he's as over as anyone. You could viably build an entire promotion around him. I nearly took him in the 3rd, but wanted to avoid repicks from the first time.
Steviekick Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 The reason I passed on Kane was because I couldn't figure out how to make his gimmick work with who I have already and who I hope to pick for my roster.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Next pick. Let's go with Dory Funk Jr.
TheFranchise Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Next pick. Let's go with Dory Funk Jr. Good pick. I would have taken him myself but I didn't want to re-draft.
King Cucaracha Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 The reason I passed on Kane was because I couldn't figure out how to make his gimmick work with who I have already and who I hope to pick for my roster. That's really the issue. There's a couple of really big names left who arguably shouldn't be, but I've looked at them and thought "well... what do I do with them if I get them? Do they fit with my roster, or my vision?"
King Cucaracha Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 My next pick is a bit of a 'safe' one in many ways. He's being drafted for one gimmick, the one pictured. However should I have a change of heart or some awful luck, he's got a couple to change to as insurance. So he'll be useful either way, but he is being drafted with a strong babyface tag team in mind. And also, great, GREAT theme music. Russian or Repo man, Hole in one or Power and paint. Either way, he'll kick ya stinkin' teeth in! DEMOLITION SMASH/BARRY DARSOW

It was less that he would be part of my plans but moreso because he was one of the best talents available for that pick. Oh well.
Maztinho Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 The first go around, I didn't really have a plan for Kane, but I was like. Shit, I gotta get him. Then I figured something out later on, which I actually was kinda happy with.
tominator89 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I considered pairing Kane with Sid in a battle of the insane hosses.
Steviekick Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 For my next pick, I'm going with someone I'm a bit of a mark for, someone who is super charismatic and a great in ring talent. He's someone who can get himself over as either a heel or face, but I think I'm going to book him as a super cocky heel, doing a combination between his world's best athlete/knockout kid characters. He can have a smark friendly match with Punk, dueling promos with Piper and bump like a madman for Bob Sapp and Kong. VIRGIL! er... CHRIS HERO
King Cucaracha Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I honestly scanned down and thought you picked Virgil for a second. Stevie's winning the best pic competition I think.
TheFranchise Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 So.. who's going to be on the board in eight hours to make my pick for me?
Brett Favre Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I'll make it. I'll be around every hour or less than an hour or so.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 Who's going to be on the board to give me a birthday cake in eight hours?
TheFranchise Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Who's going to be on the board to give me a birthday cake in eight hours? Brooklyn Zoo?

DEMOLITION SMASH/BARRY DARSOW This guy was one half (or one-depending on which version) of the team I was going to pick if DDP and Jarrett had been drafted before my last pick. Nice steal...assuming no one's a dick...though I am a big fan of his later day WCW run. Dory Funk Jr. is also quite the steal IMHO at this stage of the game. He was high up there with guys I considered for my last two picks.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I want another big draw who could easily main event, and I can't justify leaving this guy on the table any longer. This guy was HUGE at his peak. The Junkyard Dog
TheFranchise Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Ah. I'll make my own pick Zoo, thanks anyway.
