bob_barron Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 NHL.com officially sucks then. The Leafs should pick up Roberts and sign him for the rest of the year. Let him end his career with dignity.
CanadianGuitarist Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I really like the Leclaire deal. Why did Gary Roberts and Miro Satan clear waivers, but not Eric Reitts? (sic). The Leafs also picked him up on waivers - I've never heard of him, and I'm willing to bet I've got his name wrong here as well.
bob_barron Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Why would the Leafs pick up Gerber? Toskala's been playing medicore recently, and Gerber's not much better. So if you clear waivers, are you just sitting at home? What happened to Brendan Morrison?
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 because scary gary and not so scary satan have huge cap numbers.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Poor Gerber. He'll end up playing Europe next season.
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Toskala has some injuries and they might shut him down.
bob_barron Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Toskala has some injuries and they might shut him down. No he doesn't, he was just making excuses. The MRI was negative. He made 49 saves last night. Besides the awful game in Long Island, he's been playing his best hockey of the season
Red Baron Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Why would the Leafs pick up Gerber? Toskala's been playing medicore recently, and Gerber's not much better. So if you clear waivers, are you just sitting at home? What happened to Brendan Morrison? Finally realized that Marcus Naslund and Todd Bertuzzi was the only reason why he was ever good. Dallas picked him up on waivers.
CanadianChris Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Why would the Leafs pick up Gerber? Toskala's been playing medicore recently, and Gerber's not much better. Cornering the market on bad goalies?
Red Baron Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Ollie Jokinen is off to Calgary. Well it looks like it Edit: Looks like Lombardi and a few picks are going to Phoenix
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Cloutier's helping his brother coach a team in the Central Hockey League. Petteri Nokelainen goes to Anaheim for Steve Montador. Jokinen deal is done. Lombardi, Prust, and a 1st.
Red Baron Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I'm assuming Calgary might be unloading a defenceman to clear up some cap space.

Jokinen deal is done. Lombardi, Prust, and a 1st. That's a lot for Jokinen. He's never done anything in the postseason.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Jokinen has never had the opportunity to play in the postseason. The Canucks could have said that about Luongo before they traded for him.
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I don't think Jokinen's a good fit, but they really didn't give up anything much.
bob_barron Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Jokinen has never had the opportunity to play in the postseason. The Canucks could have said that about Luongo before they traded for him. Jokinen has a lot of question marks- underachiever, not great team player. With Luongo, you know what you're getting.
Urban Warfare Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Calgary is sure giving up a shit load for some pretty big underachievers. A 1st round pick for Jokinen? Really? Not to mention Lombardi is a pretty good young talent.
Guest Czech please! Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 The Leafs should pick up Roberts and sign him for the rest of the year. Let him end his career with dignity. These sentences don't match. So are the Blackhawks doing anything at the deadline, or are we content with recalling Tim Brent? Oh man, that really flows.
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 To touch on the Toskala thing, apparently he wasn't lying. They have shut him down.

I think it'd be nice for him to end his career in front of a city where he was so beloved. The Hawks are getting Dominic Moore. And I don't care that he's getting surgery, I still don't think he's as injured as he said.
Urban Warfare Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Mark Recchi to the Bruins. Great pickup IMO.
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 The Recchi deal was for Lashoff and Karsums. Some Bruins fans will not be pleased.
Smartly Pretty Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 This has been the most boring deadline day in recent memory. Olli Jokinen is the blockbuster of the day? Lame.
the max Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 The Recchi deal was for Lashoff and Karsums. Some Bruins fans will not be pleased. We call them delusional. Recchi and a 2nd for a middling offensive defenseman and a 3rd liner at best.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Every deadline day is a disappointment. We have a bad economy and most of the teams in Western Conference are in the playoff picture, so there aren't going to be that many teams selling.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I've heard conflicting reports that Peter Forsberg is going to retire today.
fazzle Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Guerin to Pittsburgh for a conditional 3rd. Up to a 3rd. It's a 5th right now, 4th if they make the playoffs, and a 3rd if they win a series in the playoffs.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Stop the presses, Forsberg's agent says Peter isn't Colorado and isn't retiring. Who started the rumor in the first place?
