Guest OctoberBlood Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 I saw this on a Reds board I post at, and thought I'd bring it up here. I am just the messager of this poll on CNN.com, but take a look: Total: 141426 votes The threat of terrorism, or rising gas prices? 54% say Rising gas prices. That is quite pathetic, and sad. Let me get one thing out, I am not saying gas prices are not important, and it is a scary thing to think of, but unless they are stating they feel safe in America (which I doubt they do), then this is utterly shocking. What do you think?
Swift Terror Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Hey, those SUVs are thirsty suckers, gotta get the kids to the soccer field. BTW, OB, speaking of the Reds, what do you think of Steve Stewart so far? Willie Mo, Willie Mo, where are your 5 tools?
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Well if we raise gas prices so high that terrorsts can't afford them then we would all be safe...
Guest thebigjig Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 well its from CNN right?? Damn commie liberal america hating pussies but seriously... if those poll results are accurate, then that is very dissapointing but on the other hand, perfect material for satire
Highland Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Why is anyone surprised at this result? The threat of terrorism, while very real, doesn't effect your everyday life unless you're extremely unlucky. Gas prices, however, do effect the lives of far more people than the threat of terrorism.
2GOLD Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 That and America has the attention span of a kitten. Wish I could say I'm shocked, but I'm not shocked one bit. I'm concerned about gas prices but that isn't going to do me any good if I get blown up.

Haven't gotten a chance to listen to much spring games. Willy Mo is having a very good spring.

"america" also needs capitalized, among other things. I really don't care about mistakes, but Tyler was mean to OctoberBlood yesterday reagarding a type-o, so I did this to make Mr. Blood feel better. No offense jig -- I make speling and grammer mistakes all the time myself...
Guest Cerebus Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Online polls are pretty much on the lowest rung of reliablity esp when it's 54-46. (BTW, do you have the link?)
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 I find WWE polls to be very realistic...

A kitten will at least pay attention to his prey until the prey escapes or is dead.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 A kitten will at least pay attention to his prey until the prey escapes or is dead. Not if you dangle a bit of string in front of the kitty...

Ripper Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 But Kittens do just sit there and then have the uncontrollable need to run as fast as they can to a spot 4 feet away from them and sit back down. When you are making up the "run to a spot" game, you definately have a short attention span. Me personally, I can pay attention to the subject at hand better than most people in the world. ... What was this thread about again?

Skywarp! Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 The funny part is that everyone is making fun of attention spans here, but if you scroll down this thread from the 1st post to the one just above, it's pretty humorous to see what this thread slowly morphed into to get entirely away from the topic. And I know this post didn't help. Now, to remain on-topic... ...Oh look, a butterfly! ::skips away::
Ted the Poster Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Hey now, some of us have legitimate reasons for our short attention spans, like my probliems with Attention Deficit DisMy cat's name is Elvis.

Insert a comma somewhere in a sentence and half your teachers will tell you to take it out/vice versa...
tommytomlin Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I hate when American's bitch about gas prices. Like, your highest prices are the equivalent of about 63c Australian per litre. Right now, I pay 95c a litre. So until your "gas" prices get that high, I'd worry more about Usama and his buddies.

Those stupid-ass "man on the street" interviews the media do. Like what are you expecting people paying at the pump to say "YAY! Prices broke the $2 mark." And ain't it funny how the same hippies that want us to live like Europeans (with thier sky-high prices) bitch when our gas prices rise 4 cents?...
MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Gas prices going up won't just affect your pocket every time you go to pay for gas. It will also affect prices for stuff like groceries, clothing, and stuff you buy that has to be shipped to the store you buy it at. Gas prices going up could tank the economy thats just started to recover over the last year.

As expected, the police were needed after the question.

Rob E Dangerously Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 As for the poll.. ask.. which will effect your pocketbook more. Rising gas prices or terrorism. And, the answer is rising prices.
bobobrazil1984 Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 On a day to day basis, gas prices are more of a concern to me than terrorism too, especially being a college student who drives almost 60 miles every weekday. Even after 9/11, I feel relatively safe in America, and frankly I'm fairly confident in both Bush or Kerry to do what they can to bring the fuckwits to death (yes, sorry ideologues i know that must dissapoint you :-P, nowadays my main political concerns are domsetic issues). "terrorists" elicit little to no terror or fear from me, only sadness and grief for lives lost and and a rising urge to wanna see them hanged. But no fear.

WHAT!? But...but...you MUST choose a side! head explodes You-you...IDEOLOGUE-IST~!
Guest SideFXs Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Taking into account inflation, compared to prices in 1980, gas would be $1.90/gallon. And terrorists will only concern me, if Kerry wins
