I never liked Keenan. Kel was the funny one. -
I dunno about homoerotic, but those were probably the most annoying skits in the history of pro wrestling. They'd do stuff like this every week: *Jericho is in his locker room warming up, when in walks Benoit!* Benoit: *shoves Jericho* Hey man! Jericho: *shoves him back* Hey! How are ya! Benoit: *slaps Jericho's chest* Fine! *Slaps it again* And yourself? Jericho: *Shoves Benoit and slaps his chest* Fine! *pulls Benoit close and looks him in the eye* Thank you! *shoves Benoit away* Benoit: *slaps Jericho's chest* So tonight's a big night, huh? Jericho: *Shoves Benoit* Yup! *slaps Benoit's chest and rubs his head* Tonight we fulfill our destiny! Benoit: *slaps Jericho in the chest* I know, man! I know! *chops Jericho's chest* Who woulda thunk it...back in the days of the ECW...*slaps Jericho's chest again* all the crap in the WCW...*slaps him again* after all we've been through, that we would reach this night! *looks Jericho in the eye* You ready? Jericho: *glares intensely at Benoit* Oh...I'm ready! *slaps Benoit's chest* Benoit: *slaps Jericho's chest* Jericho: *slaps Benoit's chest* Benoit: *glares at Jericho* Good...so what will it be...Chutes and Ladders...*slaps Jericho's chest* or Candy Land?! Jericho: *chops Benoit* I dunno...*slaps Benoit* I'd rather play Monopoly! Benoit: *Glares at Jericho and slaps Jericho* I call thimble! Jericho: *glares at Benoit* Good...let's do this! *Benoit and Jericho take turns slapping each other before exiting the room*

Do you guys know what I hate? What? I dunno. I was asking you! *crowns self king of the bad jokes*

Yeah, Austin wasn't getting a lot of heel heat, but he was definitely over. Just check out his match with HHH at Buried Alive in 96 and look at the crowd reaction there. Also, I can see why someone would say Austin was a tweener back then, because while he didn't play to fans and always attacked Bret from behind, he fought heels like Vader and Mankind as well. He didn't give a damn about anybody...I miss that Stone Cold.

That made me laugh. Great read, as usual. I agree, the last segment was terrible, but overall it was a good show. I had planned to order No Mercy since I intentionally missed out on Vengeance and that ended up being one of the better PPVs of the year so I dunno...Taker and Brock should be ok, as will Angle and Cena...we could get another great Rey/Tajiri match...so far the card is shaping up ok, so as long as the McMahon shit is kept to a minimum (which it will hopefully) I really don't see it being that much of a problem. I can't understand what makes him think that people are willing to pay money to see he and his daughter wrestle.

Rock is really starting to confuse me.

^ likes boy bands apparently...was possibly in a boy band

I'd love this segment if it meant anything other than Benoit putting A-Train over. Cool show so far.

I think Jason Knight runs a wrestling school in CT. Check assaultwrestling.com.

Just like to say how much I hate the name Wachovia Center. I hate bank mergers.
-
Ok I take that back.
-
Ok, this is officially the most entertaining non-wrestling segment of the year.
-
Agreed.

I've gotta get that tape man. This one wasn't really all that funny, but it made me laugh. At Unforgiven 98, they had a long gas pipe running from the locker room to fuel the flames for the inferno match, and while no one fell, more than a few people tripped over that pipe while they were making their way to the ring. The funniest and most noticable was Owen Hart. He was in his whole bad ass phase and was looking all intense on his way out, and that only made it funnier since he took a pretty good stumble. And the whole time I was wondering how many people were gonna trip before someone had the sense to look out for the damn thing. Kane's fall at SummerSlam had me in tears, if only for its timing.

I don't see how you can say he's fake. He doesn't *TRY* to come off looking like a child molester, and he doesn't even play up the thug image that much. With him it's usually either party music or romantic stuff. I'm surprised the charges against him didn't really effect his airplay and sales all that much. It seems like now he's more popular than ever.

Kinda sounds like the Ignition remix by R. Kelly...it's not rap but it's the closest I can think of.

^ possible John Tenta's uncle's nephew's second cousin < is trying to remember an old joke < came up with in high school but can't

I think they had two matches, one where he beat Kane for the belt, and the second where he successfully defended it. I think the rematch was the one that people always talk about. I thought it was pretty good.

That would be Jeff Hardy I think.

As far as Albert's inability to get over, I agree that was more WWF's fault than his, because whenever they do push him, it's always quick and sudden with no real build up instead of slow and gradual, and as a result comes off looking forced. Of course people aren't gonna react well to him injuring Rey when the man was just sitting on Velocity for 6-8 months just prior to this. Same with his I-C Title run, which was probably the most half-assed attempt at a push I've ever seen. In about a two-month span, the belt went from HHH, one of the most over guys in the company at that point, to Albert, who prior to this worked about 5 or 6 months as X-Pac's bodyguard. How can you blame Albert for that not going over well? That's like if Funaki came out tonight and beat Brock Lesnar for the title. It'd get a pop, but most likely, it'd bomb, because Funaki hasn't been built as a credible threat. But you wouldn't blame Funaki for his inability to get over, you would (and should) blame management for putting him in such a position. I honestly think if Albert was given more time to establish himself on shows before being thrown into upper card situations, his pushes would go over a lot better.

Oh God...he wrote Claude's Crib. I fucking hated that show.

I don't think that's fair, because no one person is gonna cause ratings to go through the roof. That has more to do with the overall quality of the programming than anything else.
