  1. If you think the Asians are the only ones who charge less than $15,000 for a perfectly reliable and comfortable new car, you really need to do some research. Yes, it is hurting America. Those profits don't go to Americans, they go to Japanese people. It's nice to see that their current brainwashing campaign ("we're as American as apple pie! Honest!") is working on the public. Of course, all we see are reports of doom and gloom regarding domestic automakers and any news of import recalls are quietly done without any fanfare. But if Ford, GM, or DCX issue recalls it's the end of the fuckin' world and domestic cars are SO TERRIBLE! This perception issue snowballs like a motherfucker and thus everyone's convinced that the Asians are good automakers. Know why Hyundai and Kia can swing those low prices and incredible warranties? Their government subsidizes them! Take a look at Honda's own president admitting a couple of weeks ago that their quality has slipped in the last 5-10 years. How can the domestics compete when import companies are virtually GIVEN the land on which they build their factories? The whole country is selling out its automotive industry in the name of short-term profit without looking at the actual economic implications of, say, GM going bankrupt (which is a VERY real possibility within the next year). Get the fuck off your high horses. Maybe 5% of this place actually knows what its talking about on this one. It's one thing to say "I don't care as long as I have a way to get from place to place," that's cool. But to just say to the guy "buy a Japanese car" is fuckin' stupid.
  2. Okay, go ahead, sell out your country's economy. Buy Japanese.
  3. I'm glad Banky posted this before I did. Daft Punk is the act leading the charge into electronic music stamping its mark on the culture, and electronica is due again after it last experienced a peak in the late 90s. It's only a matter of time before it explodes again. Come on, we've already said in here how technology's changing everything. Continuing on the same vein of thought, the Crystal Method and Chemical Brothers probably fit under the same sort of influence. "There is Hope," "Get Busy Time," "The Name of the Game, ("Calling All Freaks," whatever)" all these sorts of cadences, structures, and even samples/sounds/beats have influenced a lot of stuff all over the spectrum already. Fatboy Slim as well.
  4. Hmm. Speed dating. If I can do a job that has me doing pitches to people on the street, I can definitely excel at that.
  5. Fuck that, don't make fun of old people.
  6. I say "pwnt," just as it's spelled ("poont"). It works well with the Southern vernacular, and other people have taken it up after hearing me.
  7. I keep mine for at least several months before switching it up, which could take up to a couple of weeks before one feels right. Same with the sig. They're generally Kylie or some sort of rave-suggesting picture or .gif. I wish I could find the one Kylie avatar again that had AoO lusting over it.
  8. You guys care way too much about shit that doesn't matter. The announcers bug you all that much? Jesus.
  9. I can't swim, even though I live on an island. At least I can ride a bicycle.
  10. http://vanillaicedirectsairtraffic.ytmnd.com/ and http://demonexterminator.ytmnd.com/ (turn it up for this one, it's some awesome music)
  11. Buicks. Comfortable, and second in the world behind only Lexus in terms of reliabity. Just don't buy Japanese.
  12. Man, you really forget how funny Lushus is sometimes.
  13. You're a bad apple, Chazzles.

  15. No, it's a derogatory remark made simply because you can be, and were at that time, a bitch. That's a term used to describe behavior, like "She's being such a bitch for some reason." But you never hear someone say "That guy is just acting like the biggest nigger today." Slurs are slurs because they ignore conditions of behavior in favor of attacking the permanent nature of a person. Good attempt though. No, it's not. It's an insult made towards a woman, because of her womanhood. No, because again it's not insulting you for simply being a woman, it's a response to something you said or did. Same thing as calling a guy a bastard or dickhead or whatever else. You aren't calling him that because he has a penis, you're calling him that because the guy was mean or rude or whatever. The Russian stereotypes are more accurate examples of racism, because it's something you were born as.
  16. I do apologize though for seemingly IMing people only for conceited "look what I found" or "listen to this thing I made" reasons. That's dickish, and I'm sorry for that.
  17. Go here. First time in ages that I don't read the Raw thread, and that's what I get for it. Thanks.
  18. If you think I post for the approval of others, you don't pay much attention. I would have left a long time ago if that were the case, to be honest. "Success" doesn't enter into the equation.
  19. WWE.com is reporting Shawn Michaels needs knee surgery. Work to keep the DX reunion a surprise, or what? Anyone know more about this?

  21. The Spirit Squad definitely has X-Pac heat with me at least. I'm tired of handicap matches, I'm tired of their music, I'm tired of virtually everything they do. They may have been good enough to warrant this exposure at some point, but it's too much too soon. That and they remind me of the current hell-bent "we make an action-adventure television series" attitude in the product. Umaga is just another "monster" that's going to be inexplicably pushed to the main event, and Estrada always looks like he's constipated when he talks. The pairing doesn't make much sense on its own anyway. Has he ever even explained how he discovered Umaga in the first place? Anyway, both of these gimmicks are reasons on a long list of why WWE is starting to grate on me and I'm seriously considering not watching Raw anymore (Smackdown hasn't been regular viewing material for me in years). More power to you if you're feeling them, but I'm sure as hell not.
  22. Yeah, I'm going to start walking up to Latinos and calling them that. It's good to see that the initial reaction to any accusation of racism (even when it's someone who's shown little to no sensitivity in the past) in this country these days is greeted with "oh please, it's not a big deal." This ISN'T a big deal. Okay, so why was this statement followed by an awful lot of defense and rationalization? My high horse might be annoying, but it sure seems to be causing you undue grief. This isn't even about one specific instance (your rebuttal ignored the assertion that someone would be employed purely because they're black anyway). It benefits the "stop being so politically correct" set to try and make it about as narrow a occasion as possible, but the same ones saying this are the same ones who make racial/religious/ethnic gags on a regular basis. Yes, what Leena has to say sure carries a lot of weight in a discussion like this (one folder up, in the "people you want to punch" thread, "all black NFL WRs" was a response of hers initially). I'm so relieved that the admitted bigot agrees with a defense of bigotry. Seriously, it's 2006. Start trying to act like it, people. Either that or derail any thread about rap or urban culture with your own commentary on why it's inferior to your own lifestyle and value system. You know, whichever comes more natural for you white guys and gals that aren't burdened by consciences but have strong senses of your own superiority. I'll be over here sitting on my big ol' high horse, actually giving two fucks about the things I say about other people.

  24. Bring a Leonard Cohen album. Really.
