Last year's ECW show didn't get the spectacular number that was first reported. It was under 300,000 I believe, way down from the initial 800,000 estimates. The actual number was about average for WWE PPVs.

I don't even see what makes getting federal funding so horrible. Do we need to start posting pictures of what the city looked like when the floodwaters were at their peak? This was no run-of-the-mill disaster.

When the only people left in the city were criminals, extremely poor people, and general bottom-feeders, that's what you're going to get in terms of survivors. That's why they were ferried in trucks and shit while the well-to-do were chartering buses for their pets.

I'm also excited because Vengeance has shown it can be something of a sleeper PPV since they moved it to the summer. That nice lull in early summer between Wrestlemania fallout and SummerSlam build always produces one or two fun feuds.

That couldn't possibly be because it was new and interesting. Everyone was still inside watching TV because it was the middle of winter and kids were playing with their Christmas toys. Yeah, that sounds about right.

But how in the hell does that even make sense?

We were arguing whether Europeans made the continent better or worse through their colonizing during the 19th century, and thinking of ways to improve the place. And yes, it is the responsibility of those who made the mess to clean it up.

I won't say there's a connection until some real concrete stuff can link them, but I'll bet not a damn thing happens if one is discovered.

Cena's really the first true main event product of the style change that was initiated a few years ago. This just occurred to me.

And there aren't many cities that can absorb that many people all at once anyway. The idea of these people "getting on their feet and getting jobs" is unbeliveably short-sighted and shows that this country STILL hasn't wrapped its head around the magnitude of what happened, why it happened, and all of the new variables it created. A fucking major American city effectively ceased to exist, and those affected by this most were the people who were living day-to-day as it was. What meager lives they were able to eke out were completely wiped away, as well as their personal records and jobs. Since so few of them had more than basic education, a lot of jobs are unavailable right off the bat also. It's no surprise we can't make any progress with Africa (as we were arguing in another thread) when we can't even be understanding of our own citizens.

Just because this war has been conducted with comparatively low rates of casualties doesn't make it better. Fixation on statistics won't explain it away either.

Matt's a cool cat and all, but this is a good thing.
