I wouldn't put much into the basketball theory if they weren't bringing in record cable numbers. Shit, even Shaq does the Booker T "hand stare" after blocking shots. There are loads of wrestling marks who are basketball fans also. EDIT: I'd like to know how the Calgary/Tampa Bay game affected the Raw ratings in Canada.

I remember when Gore looked like he was about to fucking bum rush Bush during one of the debates. That rocked. I miss the 2000 election. It was fun. This year's just boring. Seriously, Bush has got to be one of the most polarizing Presidents ever, with multitudes of anti-Bush groups popping up and such, while people pop up to support him on the other side. You'd think that Kerry could ride that anti-Bush sentiment to a victory, but I look at the guy and listen to him and I know I'll vote for him, but only because he's the most viable alternative. He hasn't captured my attention at all, and just looking at the guy makes me feel bored. As far as I'm concerned, the only reason this'll be close is for the same reason I'm voting for Kerry, and that's that people will take the alternative, no matter how un-electrifying it is. Well, that and most of the states have already pretty much dialed in who's winning them. (plans a write-in vote for Dean)

Quite often, fans of one are fans of the other. There's your connection. If nary a single wrestling fan cared about sports, you bet your ass JR would never make a sports-related comment. However, wrestling fans are mostly sports fans also. The Minnesota/Los Angeles game also had a pair of fairly large markets (one being the #2 market in the nation) watching it. Also, it was on cable as well, and I like to think of other cable shows affecting Raw more than network programs, since one who already watches cable is more wont to watch other cable channels. I personally think the suck of Smackdown is dragging Raw down without even being on the same show.
