I have to admit that I have a different frame of mind on this issue. In fact, I always found it easier to write a commentator when I'm not trying to make them fit into some kind of "personality," and just write them in whatever manner I think will help my match get over better... I've always found knowing something about the character's personality to be a handicap, since I then feel compelled to try and be "true" to that character... which I completely suck at; the only character besides WC that I was ever really able to write effectively is Ejiro, and I was bumped way before he became a JL commentator, so I didn't even have the opportunity to do so in a match. Hell, a big part of why I never promo is because I suck so bad at capturing other characters' personalities... so I usually don't bother. I am reminded of a comment that I believe has, at various points in time, been attributed to both King and Flesher: "the ladder is exactly as long, the cage is exactly as high, the ring is exactly as wide as it needs to be for your spot to work," or something to that effect. I think that it might be good advice to apply that principle to the commentary team, too: The commentator should just as animated, just as subdued, just as biased, just as balanced, just as comical, just as serious as he/she needs to be to put your match over. At least, that's what I try to live by... - Dub Cee

I enjoyed writing Axis and King in the JL, so I'm all for that.

You need to be back in the fed, is what you need to be in...

That makes two of us.

So, should I drop McGrady or not? Does anybody think he could come back before the end of the regular season?

Shitdamnmotherfucker! I've got him on my first-place team in a public league; I think I *might* be able to make the finals without him: should I take a chance, or cut my losses? FYI, the best-available non-injured player in this league is Abdur-Rahim.

Well, I'd rather catch the GD Lakers for sentimental reasons, but I certainly won't turn my nose up at catching the Hornets...

EDIT - On second thought, I've changed my mind; as long as pinfalls or submissions are legal, escape from the cage is alright with me... No need to handicap Jay, just because *I* don't plan to write an escape win.

I am confuckled as well: I sent Judge two promos, and only one appears to have made the show. In fact, I even sent him a third PM to alert him when I realized that I inadvertently PM'd both promos to him with the same "message title." I only mention it because the one that he left out was probably the more important of the two...

Unless, of course, they decide to go with Bloody Caribou.

I wouldn't be opposed to doing something like the HOLT again (in fact, I'm considering doing a HOLT/Frost for FTF), but unlike the Panda Report, the HOLT report was something that I tried to do advance angles, so I'd need some input from other people for it to be successful.

I've got a Chappelle's Show question: I've heard that Chappelle did a skit on one of his shows where he says something like, "I wish I had four hands, so I can give those titties four thumbs down," or something to that effect... My question is: what was the name of that skit, and what was the name of the character Chappelle was portraying in it?

CBS renews 14 series for 2006-07

Yeah, I only bother with three of those. -
I think he used it as an ashtray, too.

.... Well, while we don't exactly agree on the relative worth of the Cruiserweight Title, Drea, I will concede that Tom's treatment of the belt definitely generated interest... some people (me, anyway) were reading his matches and promos just to see how he would disrespect the title. So, if nothing else, you could at least say that while he was the centerpiece of the Cruiserweight division, people were aware of the Cruiserweight Title... more than with some, anyway.

Just stay clear of weedwhackers. As for suggestions, I can't help you.

Yeah, good luck with that, Bruce; I don't know if there's anybody besides you and IL that actually covet the Hardcore title... Hell, *I* didn't want the Hardcore title when I had the damned thing... That being said, however, I'm genuinely glad to see that you're so passionate about the belt. I have long been a proponent of the "wrestlers make titles" philosophy, and it's always better to build a division around someone who treats the title as something special than try and get pieces to fit; why, just a year ago, the Hardcore Division was generating a LOT of interest when it was built around a motivated IL, who has proven that, when he is motivated, that he's one of the more engaging writers in the fed. Another great example of building a division around one guy would be Ejiro's run with the US title: He was so entertaining with his title run, and such a great (and underrated) heel, that people were lining up to try and kick his ass. Even Judge's "I'm above this belt" run with the Hardcore title was entertaining, just by the way he wrote. Also, a couple or three passionate writers with a couple of good storylines can elevate a "secondary" title into something that the whole fed takes notice of. As an example, Danny Williams and Mak Francis had a spectacular feud over the US Title just after I got bumped, made even more memorable to me by the fact that it was almost entirely based on the amazing matches that they wrote. Another good example of a good feud over a "secondary" title was when Landon and Johnny were going back and forth with the ICTV belt; it seemed to me like a lot of character evolution went on during that feud, and both would go on to win the Heavyweight Title. Just continue to write from the heart, would be my advice; when I was active in the Cruiserweight Division, I always tried to write the World Cruiserweight Title as the most coveted title in the fed... because it was, to me. If you write the Hardcore Title the same way, good things will happen. - Dub Cee

I dunno, I kind of like having Aftershock as the show after a PPV. I would be in favor of having a guest booker for the show after that, though.

Did Flesher vs. Williams ever main event a PPV?

William Parker poked him in the eye.

This thread reeks of Awesomeness; thanks, Raynor! The only way that it could be awesome-r is with more Galatea.
