San Diego St and UNLV in both sports. Minnesota should be better in basketball. Good college basketball arena. Great fans when they have something to cheer for. Solid recruiting base in Minnesota. No reason with a good coach the Gophers shouldn't be a Top half of the Big 10 team most seasons. Maybe even compete for a conference championship every once in a while.

College Hoops: National Semifinals and The Championship Game
Vern Gagne replied to SilverPhoenix's topic in Sports
I'm an FSU fan. So I've always hated Florida. -
That's the point of the thread. Naming programs you feel should be better. Outside the Sugar Bowl appearance. Illinois is an underachieving program in Football.

What programs in college basketball and football do you feel should be better. Football-Illinois, Missouri, Arizona. Basketball-USC, Florida St, Miami Fl, Arizona St

I've heard Jose still sleeps around on his wife.

If Richard Justice is correct. Selig had to be talked out of suspending Bonds after Game of Shadows was released.

The problem is this investigation isn't likely to give you solid evidence of who was using steroids or other performance enhancing drugs.

College Hoops: National Semifinals and The Championship Game

South Carolina wins it's second consecutive NIT championship. Get a good coach and they might actually get into the NCAA tournament. -
Does anyone beside the media care about past steroid use? This investigation is pointless. You aren't going to get any real information, and more importantly, I don't think most fans care all that much. They just want to enjoy the upcoming season.

A tough schedule in April for the Twinkies. First six games on the road against Toronto and Cleveland. Next nine at home against Oakland, New York and Los Angeles. Last nine on the road against Chicago, KC, and Detroit.

Good question. I think Duke's rise to dominate program played a big part in the transformation from Dick Vitale to Duke Vitale. Let us also not forget Vitale's constant slobbering over all coaches.

College Hoops: National Semifinals and The Championship Game

I tend to agree that the David vs Goliath Final does make for the best storyline. The problem this year no real Goliath existed. Like I said before let the games be played before judging how good this Final Four was. That being said, I wouldn't be suprised if outside George Mason winning. This is like many Final Fours is forgotten outside of the fans of the winning team. I hope to be wrong, and we see a triple OT championship classic. -
Off topic but a classic hoops comment. Dick Vitale used to be a outstanding college basketball analyst.

Thanks Al.

College Hoops: National Semifinals and The Championship Game
Vern Gagne replied to SilverPhoenix's topic in Sports
Why would Romar leave when he's arguably made Washington into a basketball first school? Let's wait until after Monday's championship game to determine if this was a successful Final Four. -
I wonder if all the UCLA teams included didn't play a small factor in only one making the Final Four. My favorite team is Kentucky '96. I'm only comparing them to teams of my generation. So the great UCLA teams, Bill Russell's San Fran team, and the Indiana '76 team aren't included. Just the depth, and defensive pressure leading to the up tempo high scoring games that fit more into today's game.
-
Why not? Not every team that won a national championship would be ranked as one of the 64 greatest ever. You have to take into account massive favourites that got beat ('75 Indiana, '83 Houston, '85 Georgetown, '91 UNLV) and teams that never even played in the tournament (I think I read that '54 Kentucky ended the season at No. 1 but declined a NCAA tournament bid, at a time when the NIT was more prestigious). The whole exercise was ridiculous, though. Most of the voters have never seen the great UCLA teams, let alone heard of the dominant USF teams with Bill Russell. Anything older than 25 years ago is dismissed, as is anything without a household name (which is why '76 Indiana didn't trounce '82 UNC -- "How the hell is Quinn Buckner going to beat MJ and Worthy?") I see your point. I'd just say both Michigan St '00 and Loyala '63 are more deserving than Villanova '85 or Kansas '88. The latter being great cinderalla stories, but really not great teams.

3/29: Out Of The Jobs Bank And Into The Oven
Vern Gagne commented on kkktookmybabyaway's blog entry in KK's Korner
Bart who is a outdoors cat cries even when he has food.I think he wants to know who really holds the power. He's also a big cat, in both height and weight. Good news is he's about to turn 16 and is in good health. The other cat at my parents house Homer turns 15 the same date. He's pretty much the polar opposite of Bart. Both in size, and attitude wise. -

That's how many cats are. Whatever you do. They are only going to come back and try to get that food again. You're cat JJ is a dolt. Pigface who is at our house, and Bart who still lives at my parents house are the greatest human food lovers. They'd never attempt anything like that. Pigface is much more agressive in going after a plate of food. Where as Bart is more stealth, trying to sneak up to you, and looking for a time when your guard is down. -
I'm exited for the Twins season to start. I really think they can contend in the AL Central.

Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania
Vern Gagne replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
Pretty much every big name superstar attends the HOF event, so it's not a huge suprise that Shawn Michael's is going to be in attendance. -
The analyst didn't take into account most voters are predicatble dolts. How about Indiana St making the elite eight? It's not Larry Bird with McHale, Parrish, Johnson and Ainge. They also left off '63 Loyala and '00 Michigan St. Two teams that won National Championships. I'm sorry but you can't leave off two National Championship teams.

All-Time tourney on Classic. People are predicatable dolts. UNC '82... yawnsville. Kentucky '96 was better. With it's depth and pressure defense. I'd also take '76 Indiana who lost to UNC in the finals. Mostly because I think Knight in his prime was better than Smith in his prime. I like Florida.A long athletic team who plays defense. Probably played the best throughout the tournament. -
Coach should be managing Shelton Benjamin. Here's an idea. Let JR announce the HHH/Cena match and either the HBK/Vince or Edge/Foley match. Than give the undercard matches to Styles.
