Drudge must be getting really desperate
teke184 replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Note to self... go to the White House with a twelve-pack of Turbo Dog for Jenna Bush. -
Watching the DVDs right now... I've seen probably every episode since my sister is a big Batman TAS and Batman Beyond nut, but it's been forever since I've seen some of these like Feet Of Clay. Too bad none of the OTHER Clayface episodes went past Warp Factor Suck after such a good two-part introduction arc...

I think that Jean-Paul Aristide's recent abdication in Haiti is an example of WHY a state should not sponsor vigilante militias to root out their enemies... For those who don't know, the militias got sick of Aristide and turned on him, eventually forcing him to abdicate on Feb. 29, although he claims that US soldiers "forced" him to board a plane to Africa.

Keep hoping. The current Summerslam plans for the Smackdown title is Bradshaw vs. Undertaker, which is right up there with Ron Simmons vs. the Barbarian in terms of world title matches.

The legitimate reason I could see for a non-fan who knows nothing about the current storylines becoming the continuity person has to do with bringing in new fans. If someone who knows nothing comes in and can't make any sense of the storylines after watching six months of tape, then the company is going to have a tough time bringing in new fans because their logic is obviously jumping around too much. I mean, if one of us came in, we'd be able to remember the backstory between Benoit and Eddy Guerrero that's been referred to on-screen but not really explained for the people who don't know. We'd also know about The Clique whenever Shawn and Triple H go on a trip down Memory Lane, although the continuity person and 99.99% of the audience would go "What the fuck are they talking about?"

Dear Christ, Vince has his head up his ass... I'm glad I quit watching after the Bradshaw push started.

The early 50s? I'm shocked and APPALLED! AND APPALLED! What Anglesault isn't saying is that Fenway and Yankee Stadium have both been around since the 20s or so. In some cases, a new stadium has helped teams out, especially in Cleveland considering that no one wanted to go to games at The Mistake On The Lake (Municipal Stadium). Cleveland turned around their history of shitty teams, though, by bringing in a nucleus of young talent over the course of 5 years then starting to sign some good free agents once they turned things around. (Ex- Trading for Sandy Alomar Jr. and other young talents throughout the early 90s, developing Belle, Thome, etc., then signing guys like Roberto Alomar once they started taking off) In a lot of other situations, the stadium hasn't made a difference. Milwaukee and Detroit are BIG examples of this, as neither team has broken .500 in about 10 years and both have played in some of the shittiest divisions in Baseball (the AL Central and NL Central are nothing compared to the AL East, AL West of recent years, etc.).

The most hosting appearances is Steve Martin with about 15. Others with five or more host appearances include: Candice Bergin Tom Hanks John Goodman Alec Baldwin Buck Henry Chevy Chase Elliot Gould Paul Simon There's a SNL FAQ somewhere that has a list of all members of the "Five-Timers Club". Im sure Christopher Walken is part of that club... He wasn't while I was still watching the show. (I only remember Walken hosting around 1992 and I know he hosted again circa 2002 when they did Cowbell.) HOWEVER, he is one of the people given a standing offer to host each year along with Tom Hanks, John Goodman, and Alec Baldwin. Because of that, he could have racked up another 3-4 appearances since I quit watching and, therefore, joined the Five Timers club.

Good thought but not feasable in some cases. Definitive Eddie Murphy may work because he was there for about three seasons and one of those was as a supporting player when he didn't appear often. After that, I think he only hosted once and he won't be hosting anytime soon. Background- He hosted once while he was in the cast because 48 Hrs. co-star Nick Nolte ended up in rehab, he hosted the season after he left the show when Beverly Hills Cop came out, and he's been VERY anti-SNL for the past ten years or so. The reason for the anti-SNL stance is for two reasons. 1. David Spade kicked him while he was down circa 1991 by doing a Hollywood Minute sketch where he showed a picture of Murphy and said "Look, kids, a falling star!" 2. After the incident where he was pulled over with a trannie hooker in his car (circa 1996), SNL did a skit called "Eddie Murphy: Good Samaritan" in which he was doing favors for all kinds of people who happened to be transsexuals. Murphy was PISSED over that because he was widely acknowledged to be the reason that SNL didn't get cancelled after the original cast left in 1980. Definitive Phil Hartman would be impossible because he was there for almost 8 years and was in a LOT of sketches because he was known as "The Glue", as he was capable of holding bad sketches together.

$500,000 in three months is probably a stretch, but I can believe that they lost $500,000 in the two years since they've started. It doesn't help that RF Video's been fucking up for a while now. RF Video itself has been having serious problems making payroll as of late and they've got a six-figure judgement against them over bootlegging PRIDE tapes. Now that ROH and RF Video are separating, ROH has a better chance at survival although this recent set of revelations will bite them in the ass a bit. EDIT- Read the exact info in *MY* copy of the Observer. As of January 2004, ROH had supposedly lost in the neighborhood of $300,000 and was having trouble making payroll. Silkin came in to bail them out on the condition that he get 55% of the company. The losses are supposedly due to startup costs, but something tells me that the company Lexus that RF used to pick up underage ass probably counted towards that as well.

Excellent. I like that. *Wonders how long it will take Raven to paralyze Stephanie McMahon and leave naked and/or disturbing pictures of her all over Vince's desk*

I don't think it's that one Jacqueline = black Jackie, NOT Jackie Gayda (AKA "Hot Tub Ho" from Tough Enough 2) As for Linda Miles, I say we let her have a grudge match with Cornette. She's going to look funny walking around with a tennis racket shoved up her ass sideways.

I don't see any objections to handing British detainees over to Blair. The UK has supported us throughout the War On Terror and Iraq, so it's not like they're going to get them and then say "Neener neener, we're letting them go!" *EDIT* Well OK, they did it before, but they better be able to justify it if they do it this time. I still don't object to releasing prisoners to them since they've been VERY cooperative with us as compared to France, Germany, Russia, etc.

need two for Clinton, Hartman's younger Clinton and Hammond's older Clinton Hartman's Clinton owns Hammond's Clinton. The Clinton At McDonalds sketch alone puts Hartman over the top. ("This Filet-O-Fish and this McChicken? Aid from Italy and France. They send it to Somalia (takes food off of trays and shoves in his mouth) and it's intercepted by warlords!") As for Hartman's Reagan, the defining sketch has to be the "Mastermind Reagan" one which has him as the brains behind every plan done in the White House such as illegal arms deals even though he plays the befuddled grandfather when the public sees him. (He even recalls his old "Cap'n Carl" days on Pee Wee Herman's show when he speaks "Arabic" on the phone, saying "Meccaaleccaahi mecca charlie ho" .)

I wouldn't count on it anytime soon, especially if you'd want full episodes (all episodes AND musical acts) since the music clearances may be in legal limbo. We're lucky we even got the SNL Music box set, with a selection of musical acts AND music-related skits from different eras.

The left would be wise to bury the tubby sack of goo themselves, rather than having prominent Democrats supporting him. Need to know when it's time to cut a psycho loose. After all, you don't see the head of the RNC praising Ann Coulter or Michael Savage ever. -=Mike I find it funny that even Stephanopoulos is calling him out on some of his double-talk... I know he's a journalist now but he WAS one of the big insiders to the only Democratic administrations in the past 20 years. As for Moore, maybe he should be Kerry's running mate. He only waffles on his arguments SLIGHLY less than Kerry.

That some black groups have a beef with the "wrong kind" of blacks making it into Harvard is just silly. DO AWAY WITH THE WHOLE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION SYSTEM. -=Mike ...Really, not that complicated... Hear hear, Mike. While I feel that no group should be discriminated AGAINST, I think it's bullshit to have severely slanted playing field when attempting to get into some of the top institutes of higher learning like Harvard and Michigan. When you get more points towards admission for being black than for getting a perfect SAT, there's something wrong. (Michigan's admissions department DID do this at one point)

Wait, you complain about Bama and don't mention Auburn? Auburn lost so much talent on defense it's not even funny. Throw in the fact that Jason Campbell sucks ass and it's a wonder that Auburn was ranked too. Besides the point, however... pre-season polls are useless and always have been. Hey Dama? Mind posting the write up on Alabama while I'm thinking about it? Auburn got the blowjob from hell last year before the season, but they still performed OK and have a decent offensive unit left. Bama, OTOH, has had about one good season out of the last five and has gone through an unbelievable amount of coaches quickly. That being said, I'm not expecting much out of either team. LSU wiped the floor with both last year and, even with a new QB, receiving corps, and defensive front, they're going to do it again. If I was going to call "overrated" on any team in the SEC, it would be Georgia because their O-line is pathetic. Show me a team with a good defensive unit and I'll show you David Greene laying on his back every other play. Unless their O-line steps up, they're going to be in trouble when they face a REALLY good defense. (This doesn't mean that Georgia's a bad team, but I don't see them as a Top 5 team until the O-line steps up)

That's what they said about the Wonder Swan, and the Sega Nomad, and the Neo Geo Lynx, and on and on. The Game Boy has been out for 15 years. If another company could have taken over the majority of the market, they would have done it by now. In case you've not noticed, Sony has their stuff together better than the others did. -=Mike The reasons that the Gameboy has been THE hand-held of choice for so long: 1. Battery life- No other handheld had the kind of battery life that the Gameboy had, but that was because no officially released Gameboy before the SP had a backlight. The Lynx had a backlight and a VERY good screen on it, but it ate batteries like a sonofabitch. 2. Software base- Gameboy has always gotten EXCELLENT first-party and third-party support, which you can't really say for any other handheld. Lynx had several good first-party games (APB, Zarlor Mercinary, Gates of Zendocon) but very few third-party games. The TurboExpress was DOA because the TurboGraphics 16 got its ass handed to it by the Genesis to start with and the SNES finished it off. Neo Geo Pocket had absolutely NO third-party support at all. Game Gear had some third-party support but not a lot because it was a portable version of the Master System, a platform that few third-party developers had a lot of experience with due to the NES's stringent licensing rules. It didn't help that Sega got multiple-personality disorder in the mid-90s and couldn't figure out which platforms to keep supporting. The Nomad was in the same boat as the TurboExpress. By the time it came out, the Genesis was near death and a lot of the newer games were for peripherals that couldn't be used with it, such as the Sega CD and the 32X. I love mine, but that's because I already had a large set of Genesis games and wanted the ability to play King's Bounty wherever I went. (It also helped that I cleared out Blockbuster's selection of $0.99-$2.99 Genesis games around this time) If the PSP uses a rechargable-battery like the Gameboy SP and gets a decent amount of third-party support, it could certainly carve out a niche. Considering Sony's resources and its history of success with the Playstation line of game systems, it'll be interesting to watch what they do and how Nintendo responds.

Jim Cornette. He always has informative stories to tell and he's fucking HILARIOUS.

Q: How many US Senators have any integrity?
teke184 replied to Lando Griffin's topic in Current Events
I always liked Breaux as my Senator... Despite being a Democrat, he still represented his conservative constituancy very well. IIRC, he actually ran unopposed 6 years ago because he was so well-respected by both sides of the fence. Mary Landrieu, OTOH, can go to hell. -
Chris Rock did a bit called "10 Way to Not Get Your Ass Kicked by the PO-lice." Rule 1: OBEY THE LAW... #2. If you get pulled over by the cops, DON'T RUN! If they have to run after you, they're bringing an ass-beating with them!

They always were. I still feel that the old method attributed to "Blackjack" Pershing is better... Get about 10 of these fuckers, cover them in pig's blood, kill 9 of them, then let the last one go to tell his buddies what we'll do to them if we catch them.

Dallas sounds like a good fit for Shaq, although I'd love to see him go to Memphis or New Orleans as well. (I'm a Shaq fan from his days at LSU and would either like to see him come "home" or play alongside another top LSU draft pick, Stromile Swift, in Memphis.)
