WCW was loosing some money, but it was not at the point that it was bad enough to close the company. The biggest reason why they wanted to sell WCW off was because of the AOL/Time Warner merger and they were selling off parts of the Time Warner conglomerate left and right. Even though the Turner networks head cancelled WCW because he wanted to get away from wrestling, wrestling was still big enough in early 2001 that another network propably would have picked up WCW programming.

The Carmen Electra swerve was totally not needed and showed how poorly thought out WCW was. Don't forget that Kidman was in the Hummer with Bisch when they tried to take out Hogan during the New Blood days.

The Internet and the easily accessible amount of "insider" info definitely has changed my pro wrestling viewing habits. I'm much more obsessive when it comes to finding out all kinds of trivial facts and stuff like that. I learned in some of my communication classes why this is so important. The majority of wrestling fans are men. Men base their communication primarily on competition, whether sounding better or more knowledgable than the people they are talking with. As pro wrestling fans, we become smarks so we can have more to know/discuss about wrestling than our less interested/smarkish friends. Actually, this can be applied to anything.

The rewards of pro wrestling (great matches, promos, angles, etc.) > the fucked up ness of wrestling. I watch because I enjoy it for whatever reason. When fucked up things happen to guys because of things like drugs, taking ridiculous bumps, etc., it makes me appreciate guys like Lance Storm all the more for being able to survive in such a fucked up business and still be talented.

Agreed. It seems like for the past month or so Keith has really been dogging It. His Rants always seem to be posted later than what were used to as well. Yeah. That's part of my disintrest with him lately.

There wasn't a local show, and I've seen all of those bands countless times. God Forbid kicks ass. Their singer Byron is very cool...he always takes time out at shows to talk to fans and stuff before and after the show.
