  1. So it'd be Bubba Ho-Tep 2: The Return of Elvis?
  2. Tack, I can guarantee you that the same things were said about thrash bands when the style started. I'm sure many metalheads were going "it'll never last, because it's all about simplicity, and it's too punk, and it's just a bunch of teenagers mad at everybody." And then a thrash band became the highest-selling metal act of all-time... EDIT: Okay, lemme clarify a little bit more here. Do I think metalcore will go on to make as big of an impact as thrash did? Hell no. I think it'll be lucky to survive another few years, but the fact of the matter is that the more popular, newer metal acts right now play metalcore, and there enough bands within that style to say it's a sub-genre of heavy metal. Because, well, Doom is looked at as a solid sub-genre, and there's never been a Doom band that's had as much of an impact as Thrash, Death, and Black bands have.
  3. So yeah...House of the Dead is the greatest horror flick ever.
  4. Coal Chamber should never be mentioned, even to make a comment like that, IDRM, in a thread like this. So hey, kids, here's some metalcore recs for the few people that have no idea what it is (all two of you): Bleeding Through - This Is Love, This Is Murderous Shadows Fall - The Art of Balance Pro-Pain - Round 6 God Forbid - Gone Forever
  5. I think it's that the production is TOO good for them. You can hear everything crisply, so much so that it all seems a bit muffled, if that makes any sense, so the quality of the songs seem to suffer. Also, it helps that, live, they just bring so much energy to the stage. I have the same qualms with Unearth, but, oddly, not Killswitch Engage. KSE just plain old sucks.
  6. No, it's really not. How many times must this be clarified? Sam and Bruce even said it on the DVD commentary for Evil Dead II. The first five minutes or so of the film is a quick summary of the original because they couldn't get the rights to show the footage from it, and they didn't want people that were being introduced to the two films through the second one to be completely left in the dark. If you skip the first five minutes, it takes place over the course of three days after The Evil Dead. I'm going to be very, VERY happy if Evil Dead 4 comes out. My only question is: how is it going to be taken off from Army? They shouldn't use the alternate ending, where Ash takes too many sips of the potion that the Wizard made in Medieval times and wakes up after armageddon, as the more well-known ending is the one in S-Mart, so where do they go from here? "10 years later and Ash is the floor manager of S-Mart"? ...on second thought, the idea of demonically possessed individuals running amok in a department store is pretty sweet.
  7. Well, with the rumors of a WWE/NOAH deal (check out the WWE folder, Raw Is Japan spoilers), it probably won't even happen. I think it would be imaginable to have KENTA against, say, Dutt or Skipper in the first round and win, and then lose in the semi's to a more established star (Sabin, Daniels, Styles). It's not like the live crowd wouldn't eat it all up, either, as KENTA fucking rules.
  8. If they fly in Nosawa it should be for more than as just a Job Boy. Shit like that is what helped kill WCW. Doesn't Nosawa actually LIVE in the States, though? I remember hearing about him living in Tennessee, which is why TNA always used him as a Japanese wrestler when they needed one. Plus, that's all Nosawa's good for: getting the shit kicked out of him. He sucks in every other category.
  9. Tom Arnold was in True Lies because he works best as a side character to do sarcastic comedic relief. Though in an Ahnuld movie, I don't think any more sarcasm is needed from a protagonist.
  10. The Lowell show is already sold out?!? I just heard about it for the first time last night ... damn, I was giving some thought to going, too. Last I heard it was. I'm gonna check Strawberries tomorrow to see if it is or isn't. If it is, I'm hoping my co-worker/neighbor pulls through on his word to get me tickets from a couple friends of his that have to sell theirs. The last time I saw Shadows Fall was Halloween '03. It's been too long. As for Lamb of God, their music has always stricken me as pretty dull. But live? I saw them open for Shadows Fall at the aforementioned Halloween '03 show in Worcester, and they kicked my fucking ass.
  11. I dunno. I liked the promo when he took a shot of whiskey and had to check his pulse. ...
  12. Styles, Sabin, Daniels, Dutt, Williams, Skipper... ...and then my own preferred additions of: -Kid Kash (can work the spots to make sense, and can be the heel powerhouse in the tourney) -KENTA (BRING HIM THE FUCK IN ALREADY) -Frankie Kazarian (not a fan, but the guy can go with the proper opponent) -Johnny Devine (best member of Team Canada) -LowKi (why not bring him in for ONE NIGHT?! It would pop the crowd BIG TIME) -Nosawa (just so he can be murdered by LowKi and/or Daniels) -Eddie Edwards (NE indy worker, destined to be a big name on the indies) -Matt Sydal (heard nothing but good things, and want to see him work) -Jeff Hardy (so Kash can prove how much better he is than Jeff) -"Mr. X" Pierre Carl Oulette (PACKAGE PILEDRIVER TO KAZARIAN~!!~)
  13. At least all you LA fucks will get to see Shadows Fall. The MA show is sold out.
  14. Re: Nightmare prequel I've heard a shitload of rumors about the Nightmare prequel being in pre-production, especially right after FvJ did so good (for a horror flick). I'd love to see it, if only because I could imagine Englund possibly getting recognition from the Academy for how great of an actor he really is. And IDRM, I think that Christian Bale makes a great serial killer in American Psycho. Then again, I think Bale does great in everything he's in.
  15. The second CD is called Anarchy Rocks. It came out in the summer of 2000, I believe, and is only worth owning for the opening monologue by Joey Styles, and the novelty of a rock band covering Ice Cube and Dr. Dre's "Natural Born Killaz" (New Jack's theme). Sadly, it has Linkin Park on it, thus making it NOT a good summary of what ECW was all about...especially considering I don't remember anybody in ECW ever using Linkin Park, even the jobbers towards the end of the company's existence. Supposedly, "One Step Closer" was Nova's theme, but to my knowledge, Nova used "Intergalactic" by the Beastie Boys and then switched to "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" by Quiet Riot during the last 2 or 3 months of ECW. Re: RVD's "Walk" cover Ain't happening. The rights to the song belong to Elektra Records and Rex, Phil, and Vinnie Paul (RIP Dime). The cover of "Walk" RVD used towards the end was by the hard rock group Kilgore, and they only got permission to release it for the first ECW disc, I do believe. Besides, "One of a Kind" is fine enough for Van Dam (though I did prefer the slower version he used prior to "One of a Kind," the one that's in the SD games).
  16. Zack, hit me up on AIM. I have it saved to my comp.
  17. KOTR 2002 Hands-down. Fucking terrible. I didn't order a single one until Rumble '03.
  18. M. C. LARS. Check out "iGeneration" NOW, bitches. Also see Ill Mitch, or else he'll punch you.
  19. Doom is hit very hit-or-miss for me. I love My Dying Bride's music, but the vocals are kinda boring. Good to see somebody else recognizes Theatre Of Tragedy and Tiamat. How would you group later Samæl?
  20. Please allow me to do so? Though most of these should come as no shock. Slayer - Reign In Blood The definitive thrash metal album. 33 minutes of pure, uncompromising speed and shock that still remains unmatched to this day. Metallica - Master of Puppets Technical mastery with the speed of hardcore punk, and enough melody to keep even non-metalheads listening after nearly 20 years. Megadeth - Rust In Peace Megadeth's best album, and the best album of any of the "Big 5" in the 1990's. Anthrax - Fistful of Metal I've never really been an Anthrax fan, but they've always seemed to represent the more "punk" side of thrash metal, so check it out. Exodus - Bonded By Blood A fun listen. That's all I can really say. Exodus' lyrics have always been terrible, but the music is solid, featuring such metal classics as the title track, "Bonded by Blood," and "Piranha."
  21. So we finally agree on something musical.
  22. I want my baby back, baby back, baby back, baby back...
  23. True Event: HAVE A NICE DAY. I want to see Foley's life unfold on the big screen, with Foley having a hands-on role. It shouldn't be any shorter than 2 1/2 hours, maybe even 3 full hours, and people WILL go see it. Wrestling fans will see it because Foley is loved by almost everybody, and after the reviews come out toting it as a heartwarming story of a man that sacrificed it all to live his dream, regular moviegoers will go see it (though not as many will). Remake: I'd like to see a remake done of Day of the Dead, particularly by the crew that just did Dawn '04. It would be extremely interesting, in my eyes, to see people try to round up the dead, as if they were cattle, when the zombies are faster than the living. Sequel: Ghostbusters 3. Dan Aykroyd's original idea coming to fruition, with the old team (Egon, Venkman, Ray, Winston) taking on a rival company new team (I guess some company successfuly creates their own ghostbusting equipment), and then teaming up to battle the forces of Hell once Hades enters Central Park to take over the world. That'd be fun.
  24. I do believe Foley said that Knight was God awful in the ring, but one of his favorite people backstage. Re: Kane Most of the people I chat with outside of TSM about wrestling agree that Kane deserves a run with the World Heavyweight title, and could have been bigger than he already is if he wasn't booked like such a complete joke for most of his career.
