The OAO Return of The King thread
kkktookmybabyaway replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
For a three-and-a-half hour movie it felt rushed, at least for me anyway. I was waiting for him to say "Hey you guys!" Not sure if this deserves the spoiler tags, but better safe than sorry. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): I don't understand why they did that first fade with Frodo and Sam surrounded by lava. On a personal note, my better half was really into reading this book before the movie came out and was always asking me stuff about what was going to happen to the characters. She asked me one time how Frodo and Sam get rescued and I just blurted out "Gandalf arrives in a hot-air balloon and saves them." She believed it. I couldn't help but laugh the hardest at that scene... -
So that was episode eight of the current season?...

Personally, I think he got a bit of a raw deal, but it's not my team... http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/6931588 EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Giants coach Jim Fassel informed his players during a Wednesday morning meeting the final two games of the season will be his last. "It's time. They need a change, I need a change. It's the right thing to do," Fassel said at his news conference Wednesday. According to players, Fassel informed the team he is not quitting but owners Wellington Mara, Bob Tisch and general manager Ernie Accorsi all agreed Fassel would be let go after these last two games. Though Fassel was upbeat addressing his players, he did show concern for the fate of his assistant coaches, players said. A meeting with team brass was initiated by Fassel. The coach, not ownership, wanted his situation resolved. Candidates rumored to be in line for the job include former Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin, LSU coach Nick Saban and Patriots coordinators Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel. Last week, Dan Reeves was given the opportunity to coach the Falcons' final three games of the season but declined. Instead, he decided to step down and allow defensive coordinator Wade Phillips to work in his place. Fassel told the players he would coach these last two games despite knowing his fate. He has one year remaining on his contract at an approximate salary of $2.7 million. Fassel should not be out of work long. He is expected to be a hot candidate in Arizona if Dave McGinnis is fired as well as Oakland if Bill Callahan is fired as coach of the Raiders. Fassel currently has a 58-51-1 record for the Giants plus a 2-3 postseason record. Last month Fassel talked to SportsLine.com about his place on the coaching hot seat and the tenous position that comes with the job. "I probably figured that out in my second year as head coach here in New York," Fassel said. "We didn't have a very good team that first year but we made the playoffs, went undefeated in the division and I was named Coach of the Year. Heck, I'm feeling pretty good about myself. "But three or four games into the next year we were struggling and I started to hear the negativity. I started to hear it from the fans and the media and I realized there are no passes in this league. "Considering the egos we have, none of us wants to hear about it. My job has been reportedly on the line in five of the years that I've been here. But if you can’t operate on the hot seat then you can’t operate. It's a very unwise man who thinks this job will be all rosy. "The only thing that isn’t on your contract when you sign it is the 'fired-on' date," Fassel said. "You look at it and those are the odds. I've heard more than one person say the shelf life of a head coach is down to three or four years. That speaks volumes of our profession. "What people do not realize about the position when they talk about our jobs being on the line, the day you sign your contract your job is on the line. It's almost like a game of musical chairs. There may be 32 guys who start when the music begins but when that 16th game rolls around there’s only about 18 chairs left for those 32 guys. That's just the nature of what we do."

If anything I'm Mike's b*tch. He bothers to debate the loony part of the TSM family -- I just read them and laugh. Now Mikey, did you go potty this time OK?...

Okay, now that has to be the funniest thing I've ever seen BX do. Ditto. Bravo, BX -- I even scrolled down in fear once I saw his first "spoiler" tag. Once I read his next post, I knew it was a joke, and a bloody good one at that... -
That's going to be at the end of the season...

Remember, there are Saturday games for the rest of the season: (No lock of the week this time, although Detroit at Carolina and Arizona at Seattle look mighty tempting.) Atlanta at Tampa Bay Kansas City at Minnesota New England at N.Y. Jets Baltimore at Cleveland Cincinnati at St. Louis Detroit at Carolina Miami at Buffalo New Orleans at Jacksonville N.Y. Giants at Dallas Tennessee at Houston Washington at Chicago San Diego at Pittsburgh Arizona at Seattle San Francisco at Philadelphia Denver at Indianapolis Green Bay at Oakland kkk's contest I’m not doing playoff possibilities until Week 17, so if you’re 7-7 or 6-8 I really have no clue if most of you still have a shot at making the playoffs. Getting an extra win can’t hurt matters, though. Atlanta Falcons (Lightning Flik 7-7) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (MarvinisaLunatic 4-10) Flik’s last two games are against “spoiler” teams – one that just had his best week of the season and the other, AlwaysPissedOff, who has the second highest PA score, which means he’d have a better record if not so unlucky. Kansas City Chiefs (cartman 6-8) @ Minnesota Vikings (razazteca 7-7) Raz has a slim chance at winning the division thanks to Terror’s 50+ point lead in the TB department, but there is always the wild card. New England Patriots (nl5xsk1 6-8) @ New York Jets (Gert T 12-2) I’m not touching any of the 6-8 teams’ playoff chances with a 10-foot pole – I got better things to do than figure out all the possible tie-breaker situations with two weeks to go in the regular season. Miami Dolphins (Agent of Oblivion 8-6) @ Buffalo Bills (tpww7 9-5) Poor Agent. Next week he faces the 12-2 Gert. Detroit Lions (Will Scarlet 6-8) @ Carolina Panthers (fazzle 9-5) Fazzle already has the division wrapped up thanks to a series sweep of Flik. Washington Redskins (Human Fly 9-5) @ Chicago Bears (Swift Terror 9-5) GAME OF THE WEEK Fly or Terror can clinch their respective divisions with a win. Baltimore Ravens (Dr.Tom 7-6-1) @ Cleveland Browns (Chuck Woolery 6-8) Chuck, if you want ANY chance of winning the AFC North division, BEAT TOM. New York Giants (bob_barron 7-7) @ Dallas Cowboys (Just John 6-8) I know John will win just so there will continue to be a logjam in the NFC East. Tennessee Titans (Cuban_Linx 10-4) @ Houston Texans (Bored 6-8) Had a few games gone differently this season, Bored, you’d be playing for a playoff spot (you still may be, but I doubt it). New Orleans Saints (Flyboy 6-8) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (AlwaysPissedOff 5-9) With all the 7-7 and 6-8 NFC teams out there I’m sure Flyboy has some shot at a playoff spot. Cincinnati Bengals (Choken One 6-8) @ St. Louis Rams (cerebus316 6-8) Same with cerebus. San Diego Chargers (Agent Bond34 8-6) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (kkktookmybabyaway 7-7) If either of our division leaders win, the loser of this game is s.o.l. when it comes to finishing in first place – it will also be harder to clinch a wild card spot, too, more so for me though than Bond. San Francisco 49ers (Bravesfan 8-6) @ Philadelphia Eagles (MD2020 7-7) If bravesfan wins he clinches the NFC West Arizona Cardinals (Vern Gagne 6-8) @ Seattle Seahawks (DawnBTVS 6-7-1) If bravesfan loses and Dawn wins, then their Week 17 matchup becomes interesting. Thanks to getting swept by bravesfan, Vern’s playoff hopes are gloomier. Denver Broncos (Canadian Chris 9-5) @ Indianapolis Colts (Hardyz1's Ghost 6-8) Can the Ghost play spoiler? Green Bay Packers (Spaceman Spiff 4-10) @ Oakland Raiders (LaParkaMarka 6-8) I’m not touching the playoff hopes of any 6-8 team, but anything’s possible, especially with a Week 17 matchup against the Chargers...

Smart people got rich and stupid people own worthless bags of beans they paid hundreds of dollars for. Exactly. Although I own a "Republican" Beanie Baby (or whatever generic brand it's called) that I got from McDonald's years ago. Didn't wait outside the store for hours in order to get it though. I saw it, thought "neat" and bought it. Now the cats have yet another chew toy...
-
And whatever happened to the Beanie Baby fad? I hate people. Did you guys have signs in the store that said "limit 4 BB's per order"? I loved pointing signs like those to stupid customers...

He got fined $30,000 for that? Lame...
