The guy wrote "Soul Man"!

I don't care if Issac Hayes is more famous for being Chef and The Duke of New York. He was a legendary singer, songwriter, and producer and this belongs in the Music Folder, dammit! You did the right thing, Czech.

Yeah but we're talking about forgettable runs not short ones. Though the two often coincide. Who could forget The Diamond Stud? It was on WrestleCrap!

Shawn Vs Virgil from MSG is on a Coliseum Video (Rampage '92 or something like that I think). It's an OK match but kind of blah. To be honest, I don't think Michaels really became a good singles worker until his Intercontinental title run. -
Sean O'Haire's pre-debut vignettes in '03 were fantastic but then when he actually showed up in WWE, he just completely fell flat.
-
Man- this sucks. Hot Buttered Soul is a classic album And why the hell isn't this in the music folder? Yeah I know he was on South Park and in Escape From New York but he was a musician first and foremost.

Who can else remembers Jim Brunzell's comeback run in late '92/early '93? The most notable part being the time where he appeared as a jobber on RAW and as one of the "legends" at the first WCW Slamboree in the same month.

Hello, welcome to my new blog. I figured if Gary Floyd and Smues have blogs then why the hell can't I have one? Here I hope to kill ten minutes of your day with observations on film, popular music, wrestling, and whatever the hell happens to cross my mind. On occasion, I might indulge in a habit that I find too dorky for my regular posts (well, 99% of the time anyways)...fantasy booking.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
I really have no idea. I think it's Crandamaniac though. -
Somehow I doubt it'll get a second theatrical run. The only major award I think it has a chance of being nominated for is Best Supporting Actor for Ledger. But stranger things have happened, I guess. Any mild interest I had in Hell Ride went away when I heard that it came from the same writer, director and star of Mad Dog Time

Here are the MSG cards for next month (Spoiler free) WWF @ Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY. October 28th, 1991 Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, and Lord Alfred Hayes on commentary "Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich Vs Big Bully Busick IRS Vs "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart Vs The Mountie "Nature Boy" Ric Flair Vs "Rowdy" Roddy Piper The Big Bossman Vs Colonel Mustafa WWF Intercontinental title match Bret Hart Vs The Berzerker Hercules Vs Tito Santana WWF Tag Team title match The Legion of Doom Vs The Natural Disasters Aside from Piper-Flair, that is one awful looking card. At least we've got Gorilla and The Brain on commentary. WWF @ Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY. March 23rd, 1992 Last televised card on MSG for five years Tatanka Vs Colonel Mustafa Rick Martel Vs JW Storm (Who?) Bret Hart and The Bushwhackers Vs The Mountie and The Nasty Boys IRS Vs Tito Santana Shawn Michaels Vs Virgil The Warlord Vs Jim Brunzell Hulk Hogan and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper Vs Sid Justice and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair Eh...this one is not much better than the first. But we can hope that Bret Hart does The Bushwhacker walk at some point during the six man tag. -
Have you ever thought that JN News' MSN contact could be a sleepy Honky Tonk Man on Noah Fentz's couch, Venkman?

Paul Newman has only a few weeks left

It seems like I've been hearing Paul Newman has a few weeks to live for the past two years. I'll believe it when I hear it from the man himself. -
All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
My next pick has came back on wrestling fans radar thanks to AWA reruns on ESPN Classic. While his gimmick was quite tasteless, he made a damn fine heel and was one of the few bright spots of the dying days of the AWA. I think he makes a damn fine pick at this stage. I plan to use him as an ally of Nikolai Volkoff's against The Patriot. With my 35th pick in The All Time Wrestling Roster Draft, I'm proud to select, everybody's favorite racist... ...Colonel DeBeers -
I think I started a similar thread there a couple years back but hey- we could always start another one. If this conversation goes too long for 909's liking and continues disrupting the thread- he could spin it off.

Speaking of Tracy Smothers, I think his run as Freddie Joe Floyd qualifies as one of the most forgettable WWE/F runs of all time.
-
I liked Walk Hard but it's probably my 2nd least favorite of the Apatow produced films of recent years. It's an odd complaint but it's almost too good of a parody. Like the spoofs of SMiLE era Beach Boys and early Bob Dylan were so spot-on, I sort of forgot that they were supposed to be funny. Like most parody movies (even some of the best), there were also a lot of gags that just flat out didn't work (the aforementioned sawing the brother in half plot was really tiresome). It's a solid *** film but it was a bit of a disapointment to me for me as a fan of biopics and Apatow comedies.
-
Well technically yes, his nickname was "The Headbanger" but it had nothing to do with former WWF Tag Team Champions The Headbangers or heavy metal music. His gimmick was that a generic monster heel who headbutt people a lot. I think he was managed by Frenchy Martin. And really I should have thought of a more forgettable run than Regal's Real Man's Man gimmick. That was short but by no means forgettable. Maybe I should've mentioned Buddy Landell or Conan Chris Walker instead.
-
My favorite role of his was in House Party 3. No...seriously. The only good part in a bad movie. But man he was hillarious in that one. "People who don't like you for being yourself...FUCK 'EM! FUCK 'EM against the wall with handcuffs on and crazy glue on their lips!"
-
So where will Harris' run rank all time in the most forgettable WWE runs? I say somewhere above Regal's run in '98 as The Real Man's Man and somewhere below Jos LeDuc's run as "The Headbanger" in 1988.

Hey I saw that Voodoo Donuts place on The Food Network the other day. If I ever make my way to the other Portland, I'll make it a point to stop there. Donuts for me are like pizza. Even when they're bad, they're still pretty good. That being said, my favorite has to be the local institution, Tony's Donuts. Is really more or less a no frills donuts place. Doesn't have much variety- only makes about a half dozen kinds of donuts but what they do, they do damn well.

I'm tired of people on the internet getting in an uproar about them. Yeah, their views are reprehensible and can't be defended but they aren't really going to do anything about them except stage more lame protests. There are a lot more worthy issues to get up in arms about.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
Cranda, you jerk! You forgot to PM me to tell me I'm next! That is assuming I'm not being skipped for some weird reason. Anyways I was afraid this next pick would go soon after The Brooklyn Brawler was picked a few rounds ago during a wave of posters drafting famous job guys. Luckily, that never happened and I can scoop him up. He's perhaps- the greatest fall guy in the history of the sport. He really did deserve better than that because he was a heck of a worker and always managed to get over on his rare pushes up to the mid-card. His rise from fall guy to mid-carder was one of the few bright spots of 1995 WWF. He was also capable of being the arrogant (who really has no reason to be arrogant) veteran heel or as a plucky babyface. I'll be using him as the former. With my 34th pick in the All Time Wrestling Roster Draft, I'm proud to select... ..."The Winner" Barry Horowitz -
2008 movies to open with a PSA under $1,000
King Kamala replied to bob_barron's topic in Television & Film
Mildly off topic but I watched a bit of Primeval tonight for some reason on one of the movie channels. Man, whatever executive decided to greenlight a film that was part killer croc movie and part half assed attempt at an expose of social strife in Africa should have not only been fired but drawn and quartered as well. -
What a weird, weird video. I like how The Sheik just stands there stone faced in his ring gear for the whole. And apparently,The Iron Sheik got cleared of the charges thanks to this video
