Lack of star power isn't an excuse for the shittiness of The '95 Rumble, '94, '96, and '97 had just as shitty lineups and all of them managed to all be pretty good. Now the one minute intervals, that's a good explanation to why it was so shitty.

Dire Straits- "Romeo and Juliet" (Live version from an 1985 concert of theirs on Wolfgang's Vault)

Norbit got nomniated for like, 8 Razzies so the question is has a movie ever won both an Oscar and a Razzie? No, but James Coco was nominated for both Best and Worst Supporting Actor for Only When I Laugh in 1982. And Amy Irving was nominated for Best and Worst Supporting Actress two years later for Yentyl

Nah, I'm thinking A Knight's Tale curse. I'm already writing in Mark Addy for my 2009 death pool!

I'll catch a matinee at the cheap theater then. I have to see all the nominees dammit! Atonement is this year's The Queen. The token British movie that I don't really want to see.

Ranking the Best Picture nominees I've seen; 1. There Will Be Blood 2. No Country for Old Men 3. Michael Clayton 4. Juno Am going to see Atonement sometime in the next few weeks. Am not really looking forward to doing so but I set out to see all The Best Picture nominees every year so I'll do it. And the more I think about Juno, the more overrated I think it is. Don't get me wrong, I really liked it but some of the dialogue was too smart for its own good and it really pales in comparison to the other nominees. And how about Zodiac getting completely snubbed? They were pretty damn stupid to release that one way back in March.

I haven't had a kettle chip I didn't like. Even the store brand ones are half decent. Cape Cod Potato Chips Jalapeno and Aged Chedder is where it's at.

Michael Clayton is good but 7 nominations good? I don't think so. I have to say though Tom Wilkinson is my personal pick for Best Supporting Actor. He stole that whole movie.

Holy shit. This is the first time a death has truly shocked me in a while. I was just talking to a friend about Ledger yesterday and how nobody would have predicted he would become one of the top actors of his generation back in '00 when he was doing A Knight's Tale and The Patriot. And now he's dead. I'm truly shocked and saddened.

That's all I have to say. I think just not looking at the thread is a good idea. I mean there are so many places where you can hear people's opinions on movies without hearing spoilers. I mean really, are TSMers taste in films and television that great in the first place?
-
The Blanchett Best Actress nod is a real headscratcher too. I mean everybody hated that movie and she already has a nod for Best Supporting Actress (Which IMO, she deserves to win. Great performance). I swear they pick one or two of the Best Actress nominees a year out of a hat.

Ruby Dee was a terrible nomination. It's not that she was bad but her part was really insignificant. If you're going to nominate someone from American Gangster, why not Denzel Washington? I mean surely he wouldn't be any worse of a nomination than Tommy Lee Jones for In The Valley of Elah (A movie I completely forgot about until he was nominated this morning) And I thought No Country for Old Men was sort of an ensemble movie. Bardem, Lee Jones, and Brolin all had around the same amount of screentime)

I have a hard time believing anything would have drawn as main event at WrestleMania XI (except LT-Bigelow). WWF was just so shitty at the time. And the sad thing is it wouldn't hit rock bottom for another six months or so.

Speaking of kettle chips, has anybody tried the new Lays Queso and Salsa Kettle Chips? I almost picked 'em up in the store the other day.

Last time I went to Little Caesar's, the pizza was $4 but this was two or three years ago so I'm sure it's changed. The pizza was terrible but the crazy bread was still damn good. I got another free Pizza Hut personal pan pizza coupon for donating blood. I'm dreading/anticipating using it.

Slightly OT, but Persepolis is playing at the local arthouse theater in two weeks and I'm stoked to see it. I'm assuming it'll be between that, Ratatouille and The Simpsons Movie for Best Animated Picture. And I liked Michael Clayton but I'm not sure if it's worthy of a nomination. It was a *** maybe ***1/2 movie but nothing to cream your pants over for.

As mediocre as '95 and '99 are, I'm not sure if I can say I've ever truly hated a Rumble. Even those two are **-**1/2 matches. And every other one to me is at least somewhat entertaining.

I have to watch Michael Clayton again. I guess I liked it well enough but for some reason when I saw it in theaters three months ago, there were a bunch of annoying 13-14 year olds there that distracted me for the first 45 minutes or so of the movie. I guess they were there cause it starred Danny Ocean. Man, that was the worst movie audience I had been in a while.

The only way I'd see The Bucket List is if Nicholson and Morgan Freeman played Battleship with The Grim Reaper and gave him an an Atomic Wedgie.

Great minds think alike! I was just about to post that I think King of Kongs should get a nod for Best Documentary. Great fucking movie in my Top 10 of '07. Here's what I want to be Best Picture nominees There Will Be Blood No Country for Old Men Before The Devil Knows You're Dead Zodiac Juno What I think will be the nominees There Will Be Blood No Country For Old Men Juno Atonement Sweeney Todd

Lays BBQ chips taste worse as I grow older and I didn't even like 'em that much as a kid. Humpty Dumpty BBQ chips are where it's at.

Oh and The Planet of The Apes

I really enjoyed this one. I'd put it only behind No Country For Old Men in terms of Best Movies of '07 but I wasn't impressed with Paul Dano. I can sort of admire what he was trying to go for but he just went way over the top. Daniel Day-Lewis was of course absolutely brilliant.
