Can any of you guys recommend me some Curtis Mayfield and/or The Impressions stuff. I downloaded an Impressions album a couple weeks ago on a whim and really enjoyed it, I also like what little stuff I've heard of Mayfield's solo stuff.

I'm willing to give it a try Kamala. Feel free to start the thread yourself and explain what you hope to get out of it. I'd love to see what you have in mind. Seems like an interesting venture. OK, I was kind of hoping someone else would do it but I can certainly do it myself. I'll start it tomorrow morning. The idea is basically a Town Hall ripoff. Which I might add is one of the best ideas to hit TSM in ages. Kudos to Dandy.

Bryan Ferry- "Don't Worry Baby"

Here's another one that means a lot to me and has gotten me through some tough times. I dedicate this one to a certain TSMer who broke my heart (you know who you are!). Long ago, and, oh, so far away I fell in love with you before the second show. Your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear, but you're not really here. It's just the radio. Chorus: Don't you remember you told me you love me baby? You said you'd be coming back this way again baby Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby. I love you, I really do. Loneliness is such a sad affair, and I can hardly wait to be with you again. What to say, to make you come again? Come back to me again, and play your sad guitar. Chorus x2

Is it possible for the mods to delete every post I've ever made saying that Marvin was pretty good in The Food Folder?

I have an idea for a regular thread, Cheech. A weekly series called "Behind The Match" where we analyze a somewhat recent match (within the five years rule), the storyline leading up to it, maybe some juicy backstage tidbits about it, and the impact it's had on the workers in said match. This thread could also work in General Wrestling (Behind The Match OLD SCHOOL!) I suggest Hulk Hogan/Shawn Michaels for Week One.

Whenever I read Milky's posts, I picture Ogre in Revenge of The Nerds behind a keyboard since I thought one of his recent pictures he posted on here resembled him. I'm sure The Milkster will appreciate that.

I still maintain that the ending is kind of cool (though it made Bulldog look like a complete ass and ruined any shot he had at the main event until he turned heel) and the random appearences by Rick Martel and Dick Murdoch were kind of cool (but also emphasized the thin roster when they had to bring in two washed up guys who hadn't done anything in years to fill out the match) but yeah, I'd say it's the worst. Watching that PPV a couple months ago, I was taken aback by how dead the crowd was for that show. I don't know if it's one of the worst of all time but it completely kills a show that's actually pretty good by '95 WWF standards. Though I never understood why they hotshotted Bret-Diesel II when IMO it was the best choice for WrestleMania XI main event.

One thing I've always prided myself on as a wrestling fan is I've always had relatively good taste, even as a mark. The same type of wrestlers I liked then are pretty much the same type of wrestlers I like now. Sure I pretty much liked everybody back then but my favorites were guys I consider good workers now with the notable exception of Crush (As a youth I was enthralled by the vignette where he crushed a pineapple with his barehands). The point of this post is even a seven year old mark, I realized that King of The Ring '95 was absolute shit. I couldn't say that about many other shows from '94 and the first half of '95 (Heck, I still kind of enjoy WrestleMania XI for some reason...) but even as a mark I wasn't buying Sid and Tatanka Vs Diesel and Bam Bam Bigelow as the main event of a major PPV. Heck, that barely passes as a decent main event of an episode of RAW from that era. In fact as stated earlier (maybe even in this thread), this show by itself swore me off of wrestling for almost a year.

Finals, TSM Worst Poster Tournament
King Kamala replied to EVIL~! alkeiper's topic in No Holds Barred
Make it a day but if he doesn't interact with Leena during the day, keep him in there until he does interact with her. I'm afraid if I choose the latter, he'll just post something a couple minutes later and be cluttering up the folder again with crappy posts. -
I haven't seen the match in years but I remember it being entertaining considering the superthin weak roster. As a mark, I remember thinking The Headhunters were going places when they entered then they were eliminated less than a minute later and never showed up in the WWF again. This deserves a thread of its own IMO but I think The Headhunters may be the most random Royal Rumble participants of all time. Up there with Mil Mascaras and a shitload of luchadors I don't remember names of in the '97 Rumble, Carlos Colon in the '93 Rumble, and Dick Murdoch in the '95 Royal Rumble. In fact, if I were to make a list of the Ten Most Random Rumble participants, I bet at least nine would be from '93 to '98.

Hey Mr. Moderator(s) seeing how MVP got 65 votes of his own, can we throw him in the Gulag for a day? I will note that Marvin's behaved a bit better lately while MVP has continued sucking. -
There's no way anybody could tell me that Royal Rumble '96 was the worst ever. All the guys had their own entrance music!
-
Not to mention perhaps the lamest group of entrants since the first Royal Rumble if not ever.

That was an awful PPV. Maybe in the Bottom 5 of PPVs put on by the WWF. In fact, every one of the In Your Houses that year were generally terrible but at least most of them had one match worth watching (1 had Bret/Hakushi, 2 had Jarrett/HBK, 5 had Bret/Bulldog). In Your House III and IV may have been the worst back to back pair of PPVs until Kevin Sullivan's run with the book in WCW in '00.

1. Appointing Cheech as the Wrestling Folder Custodian. While I initally suggested this as kind of a joke, he's really worked wonders for those folders. The WWE folder in particular is looking better than it has in years and I've got some hope that maybe this is one WWE Folder renovation that will last. 2. My only complaint is somewhat minor but I hope you put some more people in the Whiny Bitches folder. 3. None that immedietely come to mind but if I do have one I'll bring it up. Oh I got one! Give established posters "presents" on their birthday like you did with Ortonsault. Surely if he deserves one, I do! 4. I would if I wanted people to know that I posted way too much on a forum. But yeah therotically if I had other internet friends from other places, I'd recommend this place. 5. I'm very optimistic about the board's future. We're on the up and up. It'll be hard to be worse than Mole.

Maybe it wasn't a dream match to the average fan at the time but on paper Shawn Michaels Vs Mr. Perfect at SummerSlam '93 was a Smark dream match. While it was a decent match by normal standards (**1/2-***ish), it was a massive letdown.

The Best Sports Movie of All Time

Major League 3: Back To The Minors is perfectly forgettable direct to video crap but I'll forever passionately loathe it for introducing me to that stupid pop country song about minor league baseball that's now engrained in my head thanks to it being played before every Portland Sea Dogs game. "This town ain't big, this town ain't small" AGH GET THAT SHIT OUT OF MY HEAD. Fake Edit: "The Cheap Seats" by Alabama. Worst song about baseball ever written. Even worse than "Centerfield" and I loathe "Centerfield" -
And now to get serious for a moment, here's one that got me through a lot of tough times... Another day is at end. Mama said she's tired again. No one can even begin to tell her. I hardly know what to say but maybe it's better that way, if Papa were here I'm sure he'd tell her... Shannon is gone I heard, she's drifting out to sea. She always loved to swim away. Maybe she'll find an island with a shaded tree, just like the one in our backyard. Mama tries hard to pretend that things will get better again. Somehow she's keepin' it all inside her. But finally the tears fill our eyes and I know that somewhere tonight that she knows how much we really miss her. Shannon is gone I heard, she's drifting out to sea. She always loved to swim away. Maybe she'll find an island with a shaded tree, just like the one in our backyard. Just like the one in our backyard...

15 posts into a GWAR thread and Corey Lazarus hasn't posted. I'm disappointed in him, he's losing his game face.

The local Pizza Hut transformed into a Pizza Hut/Wingstreet. Is it any different than regular Pizza Hut or do they have more options for wings? I've got some six month old Pizza Hut coupons that are burning a hole in my wallet! Edit: I can't believe I misspelled hole. Forgive me TSM spelling sticklers.

The most amusing Terry Funk "retirement" match was in '99ish when he had a match on some indy show against Sabu at a strip club in Canada.

If anything, I think Hart came out better after the whole situation than Hogan did. Hart was thisclose to defeating Yokozuna and only lost due to getting salt thrown in his eyes. Hogan won but only cause he caught Yokozuna off guard after Yoko had just wrestled. Then Hogan proceeded to not defend the title for three months or even wrestle outside of an occassional tag match with Brutus against Money Inc.

Was anybody really debating on the "nay" side though?

Come on guys, Portland, Maine- our motto is great fun for a little city! I can take you guys out for seafood afterwards, we can visit Judd Nelson's parents house. We could go on the Duck Boat. The possibilities are endless I tell ya!
