CanadianChick does have a right to her own opinion, and no one can take that away from her. I can see why she, and a few others, might not consider Austin as a true legend in the industry, because of who he's worked with in his best matches. CanadianChick, because Austin is my favorite wrestler of all time, I'm not going to bash you. All I just wanted to say is an example of how great Austin could be in a match. If you watch the Survivor Series '96 match with Austin and Bret, you'll notice that Austin begins the match trying to see if he can out-grapple Bret (since Bret was "rusty" coming back, kayfabe wise). It didn't work, so Austin then worked on Bret's upper chest and back, taking the air out of him (because Bret wasn't in "ring shape" like JR said during the match). He did simple things, like stomps, fist-drops, and used his leverage to choke Bret on the ropes to get Bret tired and fatigued early on. Later as the match became more back-and-forth (due to Bret's mat acumen helping him combat Austin), Austin then did the big move spots that we see today, but they made sense in the psychology of the match. He countered a bulldog by shoving Bret chest first into the turnbuckle, hurting his already weakened chest and causing Bret to breathe even harder. He did a top-rope superplex, which again drove the air out of Bret by landing on his back (they even do an excellent replay where Vince yells "whatamaneuver"). Austin also utilizes a bow-and-arrow, in which he clutches Bret's throat and stretches his upper-body out making it hard for Bret to breate. Now, in retrospect, Bret sold these moves excellently, making Austin look that much tougher, but Austin's in-ring acumen is just as deep as Bret Hart's in my opinion. The ending of the match is awesome, showing Austin use the Million Dollar Dream (another move to block air-intake), but Bret used his wits to counter and win. Most idiots who don't appreciate Austin (and I'm not calling you an idiot canadianchick) cite that Austin was "carried" by Bret and by Benoit and Angle in all of his great matches, but in all of the excellent Austin matches, it was basically Austin stealing the show. Oh, and HBK is a good worker, but he's not as good as Austin, Bret, Benoit, or Flair. Bret said he's a good worker but not a great one in his Slam! article in 99 (an article in which he praises Austin as a great wrestler). You don't have to take my word for it, just watch his matches and look for the subversive things that Austin does which makes them great. If he wasn't a great wrestler, then Meltzler wouldn't put him in his 100 greatest wrestlers book (in the top 10 in the WORLD no less).

....imagine seeing Austin puke all over McMahon in 98. I'll never forget the horrid image of Hall hurling all over Bischoff on Nitro. And for that matter, another sad, pathetic moment was seeing Austin piss on Arn Anderson in June last year.

Well maybe I should've rephrased the statement to "Chris Jericho should be the #1 superstar on Raw". I don't disagree that Eddy is a better wrestler and I think Eddy is awesome for Smackdown right now, but Jericho is the perfect superstar for what the WWE needs right now. He has good abilities and a lot of charisma, but Raw also has Triple H and Goldberg.

Raw Austin as Co-GM Unmasking of Kane Katie Vick Ric Flair kneeling to Triple H Triple H and Stephanie exchanging retarded sexual insults while Jericho listens on Hulk Hogan winning the Undisputed Title
-
Chris Jericho should be the #1 superstar in the WWE right now (and he should've been for the past year), but he's never been pushed to the highest degree like an Austin, Rock, or Triple H would be. Ditto on the Brock/Angle feud. It sucks/ed.
-
It could be Benoit, but he's in a feud with A-Train of all people so I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.
-
I know that Cena will get his first major Word Title run in 2004, after long programs with the likes of Angle and Eddy, but I see Guerrero winning a World Title sooner for some reason, unless his push is killed by the Big Show feud.
-
Thiking about it now, Cena/Rock would be a nice feud. Their match (assuming they do a big elevation match at WM XX) would be entertaining with Rock's bumping and Cena's acting, and it would be golden on the mic. I don't think it will happen though. If anything, Rock will probably make his return to Raw again.
-
Cena won't win until 2004. I'm guessing that Eddie has a legitimate chance of winning the title from Brock, but who knows for sure.
-
Brock needed a title win to look like a strong monster heel, so an uber-face like Undertaker can face him at No Mercy. Angle built up more credibility as a veteran main eventer, thus being able to help elevate John Cena in a feud. Cena beat Undertaker, and is slowly building his main event status and getting better.

Both Angle and Austin have appeared on Regis Philban's morning show, wearing the WWF World Title.

If Vince didn't push the panic button when the ratings fell like this in May-June, I don't see it happening right now. While the ratings are a bit alarming, they're not at the point where the WWE is in dier straits.

The ONE and ONLY SmackDown! 10-02-03 Thread
Austin3164life replied to BifEverchad's topic in The WWE Folder
I was working and couldn't catch SD. What were the best matches of the night? -
Both Angle and Austin have daughters. Both Angle and Austin have defeated each other for the WWF World Title.

The ONE and ONLY SmackDown! 10-02-03 Thread
Austin3164life replied to BifEverchad's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm amazed that the Smackdown thread has gone well beyond ten pages. -
Neither show is really that good at all, but Smackdown is the "lesser of two evils" so to speak. It's the better show because when there are much better matches, it's easier to create storylines.

"RVD will never win the Heavyweight title, but..."
Austin3164life replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
I honestly don't see the big deal about RVD. So he's over. That's great. I'm not trying to rip on him, but I think people give him more credit than he deserves. -
So far, things sound promising. The main event looks to be setting up No Mercy, and hopefully it will deliver.

HHH v. Steve Austin - No Way Out 2001?
Austin3164life replied to Nevermortal's topic in The WWE Folder
It was very good for what it was meant to be, a brawl. I give it ***3/4. -
An Angle/Cena feud can be great, and it can be easy to do as well. I've talked about this feud many times since the beginning of the summer. It can work on a lot of levels, and does have potential of being the next Bret/Austin feud (not so much in terms of the matches, but storyline wise, yes).

What's stopping a union in WWE?
Austin3164life replied to The Czech Republic's topic in The WWE Folder
A union wouldn't be too bad of an idea, but it would most likely have to benefit both sides (wrestlers and McMahon family). If the workers were to arrange a walkout amongst themselves, they need to have a clause in the Union's charter/contract which claims that they cannot be sued by Vince McMahon & Co. for breech of contract. A worker's union would be different because when you get right down to it, Vince is still a promoter, not really an executive (in terms of the wrestling shows and workers). -
It's always half the roster that isn't too cheery for autographs (and sometimes very rude), and half that are more than willing to sign, and even take a picture. This doesn't really surprise me. I met Benoit, Cena, Angle, and Noble, and all four were very nice guys and really interacted with me and the rest of the fans. I guess a wrestler doesn't really have to suck it up to the fans, and perhaps Brock was trying to keep his heel image.

20 million is a nice opening weekend gross total. I saw the movie opening night, and it was packed in the theatre I was in. It was a very fun movie to boot and The Rock especially played his part well. There were some pretty outrageous parts in the movie, but nothing overboard, and I certainly enjoyed it more than Scorpion King.

Wrestlemania can be an excellent show, because the WWE has the deepest talent pool they've ever had. Of course, with all the early hype springing up, and factoring in backstage stuff (politics, creative, management, injuries), it won't be a perfect show. This show should be about two main things. First, it should highlight the legendary superstars who have made Wrestlemania what it is today. Secondly, and most importantly, this should be the place where new icons emerge to carry the WWE into a new era. A match list such as this would rock MSG: WWE Championship: Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit © (Special Ref: Bret Hart) World Heavyweight Title: Chris Jericho vs. Triple H © Ladder Match: Shawn Michaels vs. RVD The Rock vs. John Cena Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg Legends Match: Hulk Hogan vs. Steve Austin WWE Cruiserweight Title: Rey Mysterio Jr © vs. Ultimo Dragon TWGTTP vs. E & C Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
