  1. Chris Benoit vs. Jushin Lyger (Super J Cup 94) Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart (WM 13) Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat (5-88, in NJPW)
  2. This was a joint botch. Triple H let him go very sloppy, and thus Goldberg fell too fast and it looked terrible. The funny thing was the look on Flair's face.
  3. I'm definitely looking forward to the Latino Streetfight. If it's as good as last week's sweet match between Cena and Guerrero, then I'm all for this feud to keep going. Is the Iron Man next week or today?
  4. I would probably go with John Cena to buy athletic gear and retro jerseys (except I don't "rock" them, I keep them in the closet).
  5. You bring an interesting point up, Dan, however fans can cheer on or jeer and boo whichever superstar they see fit. I can see where wrestlers come from because there are a lot of annoying morons out there, but if Goldberg is mature enough he can ignore it and just act like a gentleman. It's surprising to hear that he gets riled up by just a bunch of loud fans.
  6. Doesn't really matter anyway because Triple H is slated to regain the title at Survivor Series from what I am hearing. There's also no point in talking about long-term effects because we all know that Vince & co. never contemplate the long-term. I see Triple H doing the job because of his injury, but it really doesn't make a difference.
  7. I can't wait for the streetfight. It looks like one hell of a brawl. I smell this feud going all the way to No Mercy.
  8. If management and Austin himself were to let it go on, Jericho can become a big face if he's allowed to shine over Austin and kick his ass. I highly doubt Vince and/or Austin would want that. I could see a sweet feud culminating in a possible "last match" that Austin rumored about at WM XX, where Jericho clearly makes Austin tap.
  9. Dames, I know things between us haven't been smooth lately, but all I'll say is that you're still young, at 23 years old, and you have plenty of time to get a good education, and thus go for a nice paying job to be set for life. I think you should go back to school, and if/when you do, take the ball and run with it. You are an intelligent person, and with great effort you can go far. Look how far you took TSM. I remember when it was still The Smarks on ezboards and now it's a very popular forum across the 'net.
  10. Guerrero vs. Benoit was my favorite, and IMO, the best match this year. I think Angle/Benoit from Unforgiven last year was better than their Rumble match.
  11. How do you make another Austin? You can't, because there never will be one. The next huge breakout star will probably be John Cena. He's had a pretty consistent push ever since he released his rapper gimmick, and now he's in a feud with the hottest superstar in the WWE. He's got charisma and owns the crowd (and he's a heel). Give him another year to hone his in-ring skills and he'll be the WWE's hottest commodity.
  12. I get discouraged just by reading what people have to say about Raw, and having not watched it since April, I have no incentive to watch it at all.
  13. Angle wouldn't have to go over them clean. A tag team contender can interfere. It's No Mercy and they could save the big title match for Survivor Series. WBTTP could want to try and say since splitting away from Angle, they've accomplished tag glory, and now they want to dethrone Angle. It could be interesting.
  14. You know, if Angle retains, and at No Mercy he has no opponent, would it be dumb to have WGTTP to go against Kurt in a Handicap match? They could save a major match for Survivor Series for Kurt, and the former Team Angle could try and humiliate Kurt I guess.
  15. Which would be subsequently negated when people decide that the superior cure for impotence is not Viagra, but to simply just "jump-start" their balls. Man's got a point. I guess what I meant to get at is that it could slowly mean that the WWE is focusing more on the Sports aspect of Sports-Entertainment.
  16. I like the idea. It creates some luster around this entire Brand Extension. They started it with Brand-Only ppvs, and now they should do some smart free-agencies. It would create a mini-illusion to the fans that the WWE is becoming somewhat of a "legit" sport.
  17. Which is why Rock was booed at Nassau Coliseum. Brock looked like the monster he was built as, but at the same time, Rock outsmarted him at mostly every turn leading up to Summerslam. Plus fans knew he was leaving for Hollywood anyway so they considered Rocky a "sellout" and cheered Brock on.
  18. I think that when Edge comes back he's going to take John Cena's spot in the upper-midcard and feud with the likes of Eddie again. Perhaps the WWE will make the Edge/Eddie feud into a saga, or a Benoit/Edge feud.
  19. Of course, the announcer/commentator team should almost always cover the match at hand, and occasionally hype a Main Event (if the match at hand is A-Train vs. Hugh Morrus). Tazz and Cole are starting to get better and better and are sticking to wrestling, and they are more entertaining then the geriatric tandem of JR and Lawler.
  20. I agree with most of that, but how, in your opinion, is Bret more charismatic than Shawn? Bret has this aura about him that just draws you to him whenever he speaks, wrestles, or just shows up and stands around. No matter how stupid and/or crazy he may be these days, people still pay attention when he does something. Shawn Michaels is just sort of there. Michaels attachment was his athleticism. It never had anything to do with his charm. Bret was one of the most charismatic wrestlers of the last 20 years, along with the likes of Flair, Hogan & The Rock. Bret had better mic skills too. He was always able to tell a story better than Michaels, and can always get a reaction out of the crowd. Many of Shawn's promos (such as when he joined the NWO or when he was struggling as a face in late 96) kill the crowd. Bret never did that, whether he was insulting the US or arguing with Jerry Lawler's evil dentist. Bret was really underrated as a mic worker. He wasn't as good as Flair or Foley, but he was at the top of the next level. Yeah, uh, what he said.
  21. Triple H is a shitty actor on a wrestling show to begin with. I could never envision him in a major motion picture, let alone a t.v. show. Rocky is by far the most successful crossover I believe, and Austin's appearances on Nash Bridges helped the show's ratings skyrocket, which caused plans for a spinoff. Austin was also asked to be in "Universal Soldier: The Return" but he turned it down and they got Goldberg.
  22. The main point was that because Austin won the "no punches" match against Flair, Flair was supposed to be his personal assistant on Raw or something of that measure. Then I read that they wanted Austin to job to Brock on Raw in an impromptu match, and to have Eddie as the guest referee. Flair was supposed to be behind the whole thing because "it was ME Austin, it was me all along" was the basis of the Austin/Flair saga.
  23. I say in the middle of the show (RAW-9:50-10:10, SD-8:50-9:10). Start the show off with a nice little match to gain the live crowd's, and the t.v. audience's interest. Then in the middle, they should have all of the promos that lead up to the main event, to get people psyched up about it. Occasionally, at the end you can have a small promo that gives a prelude for next week's show, as long as it's not offensive.
  24. I went to the June 1st taping of SD here in Rochester alone, and I had a great time. I got to start a "Let's go Cena" chant during his match with Billy Gunn, and people laughed and I had a good time with the crowd around me.
