  1. Benoit, Austin, Vader, Bret, Eddy, and Jumbo are all better than Flair. I used to fall into that "Ric Flair is the greatest" mode a while back, but once I saw all of his matches I started to see that he is repetitive. Not denying he was great and did influence pro-wrestling.
  2. I haven't watched Raw in at least 5-6 months, so I can't really comment on how it has been doing. Judging from the reviews, it isn't as hot of a wrestling show, but the storylines are at least coherent. I think both shows are bad but the only reason I watch Smackdown is because it has Cena and Benoit on the show.
  3. Not sure if this actually happens, but it's good news for Benoit if it does. I'm not sure how their feud would play out. Knowing the WWE, it could become a lame-duck feud, because both man lack in the charisma department. I'm sure they'd tear it up in the ring, but I'm not sure how the WWE would write it (or if they would write it how most of us would like it to be).
  4. It would be a risky thing. Something that is that major of a change might make the WWE fall on their faces. I'm not sure, with the creative team that's operating as of now, they could pull it off. It sounds like a promising idea though.
  5. I think it should be that Cena pins Angle to take the victory, but since they're going to do a complete 180 on his character for a face turn, I guess getting the win over Brock is sensible, since Brock beat him clean at Backlash. Anyway you look at it, I think Cena should be the Sole Survivor. He could use the push.
  6. Heh, I remember when CWM and I began this board. It's nice to see it hasn't completely dropped off the face of the earth.
  7. Which is why I think he'll be seen as a lame-duck babyface by pairing up with the guys he lost to. It would be much greater if he learned from his mistakes with some important wins over the same people (ex., Angle).
  8. It'd be stupid if they push Cena too hard already. They should do a slow burn. Cena should be on the heel team and win it by pinning Kurt Angle.
  9. Steve Austin-1997 That was one of the best years in wrestling, in my lifetime at least. We saw the rise of the character of Stone Cold Steve Austin, and we also saw all of the black t-shirts emerge throughout arenas as the year wore on. Plus, Austin was having a sensational year in terms of in-ring quality. Royal Rumble Match(***1/2)- A match that is underrated due to the amount of "nobodys" there are, but Austin, as well as Foley, Bret, and Funk made this a great Rumble to watch. Austin vs. Bret vs. Undertaker vs. Vader (***3/4)- A very fun brawl, and excellent considering they changed the results midway through the match. Austin vs. Bret WM (*****)- My rating might apall some people, but I don't need to explain why this match is so great. Austin vs. Bret IYH(****)- Another excellent match in my HOMETOWN. I was there that night. Crowd was hot, and Austin and Bret lit it up, once more. Austin/HBK vs. Owen/Bulldog(****1/4)- Possibly the greatest match in Raw's history. Austin vs. HBK KOTR (***3/4)- Had some stupid spots in it, but it was a very fluid match, that was ruined with the idiotic ending. Team Austin vs. Hart Foundation CS (****)- Another great match to see, with amazing crowd heat. Austin is awesome in this match, garnering HUGE heel heat, as you can tell with the crowd chanting "Austin sucks!" at least 5-6 times throughout it. Austin vs. Owen SS (****1/4)- A very overlooked match due to the ending, but if Austin wasn't hurt at the end, this was on its way to becoming a ***** match. Austin played his role perfectly, and Owen did as well. An excellent match and an equally hot crowd. That was really the end of Austin's superb abilities in the ring, for a long while. Austin had a phenomenal year in 1997, and I think his best year overall, and thus, I feel the best year in pro-wrestling (WWF Main Event scene, WCW Crusierweight Scene, ECW Hardcore Matches).
  10. Baseball (future?) hall of famer Cal Ripken Jr. is from Rochester, NY.
  11. I think Austin talks about how great their matches were every time they stepped in the ring together, and how he trusts Benoit completely because Benoit protected his neck (especially in Edmonton after 10 Germans and a Top Rope Suplex).
  12. The match with Hogan was terrible, but it had a hot crowd. Big deal. Their so-called "classic buildup" was the reason the buyrate tanked. Vince's best match came with Flair at Royal Rumble. Both men put their working boots on and it was definitely a fun match to watch. Close second is the Shane/Vince streetfight at 17.
  13. Is Smackdown on the West coast? I'm surprised spoilers are not in as of yet. It'd be cool to have the Smackdown "Sole Survivor" match start off with Cena/Angle staredown and end with them both, with Cena going over (I guess, for the job he did at No Mercy).
  14. I think Kurt Angle's best year was 2001. He really stood out from the rest of the roster that year (as did Benoit and Austin). He still hasn't gotten everything down in the ring yet, but he has time left.
  15. I think all this means is that Michael Hayes is an idiot. Nothing more, nothing less.
  16. I believe Eddy is definitely getting a World Title shot/reign soon, because they can't keep trading the belt between Angle and Lesnar (which hasn't really done anything for the ratings). They'll separate Los Guerreros to make Chavo stand out and Eddy finally reach the big time, and then Eddy will get the push to the top. If they want to tap into the Latino market (which can be beneficial), then Eddy is definitely their man to push (based on how incredibly over he's been).
  17. Angle/Benoit is definitely worth the download and it is a great match, (not sure if it's the WWE's MOTY) but the psychology in it is a bit flawed at times. I feel that it was a spinoff of the awesome Unforgiven 2002 match that they had months earlier. Angle/Benoit at the Royal Rumble was called, by a lot of TSM faithful, one of the greatest matches of all time. That in itself tells me that people were so enthralled with Chris Benoit's standing ovation, and I was as well when I first saw it. I just feel that it might become the most overrated match of the past 3-5 years if people keep creaming over it because of the Standing-O.
  18. It basically comes down to what kind of expectations you have for a match. I read a lot of people's ratings for the Brock/Taker match at No Mercy, and I saw some people rating it ****. I'm not trying to knock their opinions, but in NO WAY is it in the same league as Benoit/Eddy from Vengeance (which is around ****, imo). I like to generally clear all of the rediculous storytelling before the match and then watch it. For instance, Angle/Cena had a HORRIBLE build up to their match, yet the match itself was very good, with both guys working hard and telling a nice story in the ring (and the crowd eating everything up).
  19. as i said. give him like one week with the title and a succesful defense, and then next week have him job it to jericho or kane or someone decent. just not hhh or goldberg. Not only would it cheapen the World Title by putting it on Flair (50+ year old man), but it would cheapen the title as well by having a lame duck week-long reign, only to job it to Jericho, who's involved in another retarded angle.
  20. You guys sure are obsessed about Triple H. Leave the man alone, he's getting married. He is not the reason WWE is putting out shitty product. That title goes to Vincent K. McMahon.
  21. Well, who would you rather pin Flair? Or would you rather have Flair win it for Evolution?
  22. I like Choken One's card. I'd actually pay to see that, so it's a good card.
  23. My sentiments exactly. It would be nice to have the hottest CURRENT stars of this generation to shine in the WWE's biggest show of the past half-decade.
  24. News like this doesn't even deserve a thread. Like wrestlers don't have bad days.
  25. Hey, if Hogan helps TNA that wouldn't be too bad. I wouldn't really shed a tear if Hogan is not at WM XX.
