I agree completely. I said this when it first happened, and when everyone was like "FUCK AUSTIN~!" and yet they also were like "BROCK HAS NO HEAT~!". It would've been rediculous for Austin to job to Lesnar in an impromptu match-up with absolutely no build-up.

Smackdown Rating same as last week
Austin3164life replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
It seems like this year's "buzz" before Wrestlemania has been an anxious buzz. I think for the WWE to make a substantial jump in ratings, they have to make the shows interesting, and make sure that No Way Out and Backlash deliver well, besides Wrestlemania XX. The key is drawing even more fans before and after WM. -
1. In the words of Vince, this match has NO CHANCE IN HELL~! of happening: a. Austin does not want anything to do with Hogan b. Hogan and Vince are having a relationship spat 2. Neither man needs a match, or this particular match for their respectable careers; In other words, no point. 3. I hate to sound biased, but for some reason, I agree with DangerousA in that Hogan sucks. No, I won't rant on his politics because, fact is, everyone has politicked. I just never, ever fell in love with the character like everyone else did. 4. Austin is slowly ruining his legacy, and I hate to see him acting out this "Redneck Superman" persona, at the expense of other wrestlers. Case in Point: I don't want to see this happen.

'Cause Stone Cold Said So is one of the best videos/DVDs that the WWE/F has ever made, imo. Austin narrates himself and they show his rise to superstardom. Great footage and hilarious commentary by Austin himself.

I personally like the character of John Cena, although I believe they turned him face too quickly. I was just watching his matches with Undertaker and Benoit, and they were both very good. Now, it's obvious that Taker and Benoit controlled the flow, but for a proverbial rookie, Cena never looked lost and didn't blow any spots like some other young talent (coughORTONcough). I'll get this DVD solely to have it for when Cena becomes the WWE's next megastar. EDIT: John Cena had a decent match on Smackdown with A-Train of all people. I don't hate A-Train, but Cena does show some promise, ring-skills wise.

Eddie's popularity began to sharply rise around spring-summer time 2003, I'd say. That's when the whole "Cheat 2 Win" gimmick was becoming huge. He peaked for a while up until after he faced Big Show at No Mercy, when Chavo returned I believe. Now, his popularity has risen to those levels again. If they go with Angle/Eddie at WM XX, I see Angle turning heel very soon.

Question is, where do these guys go from here? TNA?
-
I think the problem is that they turned Cena into a babyface a bit quickly. Sure, the fans helped by popping for him the past 6 months, but they should have kept him a heel up until about now, then start to turn him face. His heel promos were much greater. I just wish Cena had a better opponent to face rather than the Big Show for the US Title. Personally, if they can salvage the Eddy/Angle storyline, and focus on just THEM TWO wanting to be the best (or World Champion), I would love to see them go at it at Wrestlemania XX.

My sentiments exactly. Sean Penn- One of the best actors of the past decade Bradshaw- One of the worst pro-wrestlers of the past decade (dare I say ever?)

Benoit can win the World title.
Austin3164life replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Optimistically, I see Benoit defeating Triple H clean-yes clean-to win the World Title in the last match of the show. Even though Trips is involved, I think it would be a great match, with Triple H trying hard for someone not named Michaels, Shawn. Pecimistically, I see Benoit pinning Shawn Michaels (another challenger) for the World Title in a senseless Triple Threat match that sees Shawn and Chris doing most of the effort, and Triple H being the "opportunistic" heel (what Ross will reiterate throughout the match) who just happens to not have to lay down for Benoit. I guess you guys can take your pick. -
I remember the first three weeks into his ultra-heel run, when the commentators were in shock and turned on him, the biggest pops on Raw were when Austin and Triple H beat the shit out of the Hardyz.

Unless Austin went on a drunk rant calling all the fans "fucking sheep" and started to totally trash them, I doubt people will hate him. Last SD event I went to, I asked people who went to Raw how the Raw show was, and they said it was boring, quiet, and it sucked because Austin wasn't there. Now, I'm not defending Austin's character right now, because I also am not into it at all. I think he should have one more big money match with Hogan, and then become a manager.

Benoit sabotages his own push with a horrid promo
Austin3164life replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
All I have to say is that I'm glad a guy like Benoit is getting pushed, because the era of talktalktalktalk is getting extremely lame, and it's nice to see a no-nonsense individual rise to the top. It also almost gives homage to the great wrestlers of the past (Thesz, Sammartino, etc.). -
I'm all for Benoint getting a main event push, but I'm going to have to agree with RRR on this one. Benoit deserves the true #1 belt, the WWE World Title that Brock is holding onto right now. I want to believe that Benoit will look like gold at Wrestlemania, but whenever I try and think that, this image comes to mind.....

Somehow I feel that the WWE will try and find someway to devalue Benoit's first legitimate main event push.

Is RVD really that popular anymore? -
Benoit sabotages his own push with a horrid promo
Austin3164life replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
I disagree completely with Rawmvp's statement. I believe that Benoit delivered a good promo describing his feelings about winning the World Title. It would not look right for Chris Benoit, who has always been the "silent assasin" type, to sit there and start making up catchphrases trying to connect with the audience. His actions in the ring help him do that. I think he would get a greater reaction on Smackdown, since the fans are used to seeing him compete on that show. Also, John Cena has plenty of time to win World Titles. I believe he should have a lengthy U.S. Title reign, so perhaps he can bring prestige to that belt, rather than Big Show or whomever else to never defend it. -
This is a breath of relief. I was at Hooter's and the crowd reacted big during Cena's elimination. Is it just me, or was Cena's actuall showing in the Rumble mediocre at best? Are they going for Cena vs. Big Show?

ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH: Final Four- Chris Benoit, Goldberg, John Cena, Kane Winner: Chris Benoit eliminates Goldberg after Brock Lesnar distracts Goldberg Last Man Standing: Winner: Shawn Michaels Guerrero vs. Guerrero Winner: Eddy WWE World Title: Winner: Holly by D.Q.

That kind of story would be refreshing, compared to the crap that's been shown to us in the past two years. I really wouldn't know why Chris Jericho would want someone else getting his top spot, but it sounds like a lucrative story that could have a few interesting branches to it (the whole Clique politics pseudo-references, glass-ceiling "breaking").

Royal Rumble (aside from Wrestlemania) is my favorite pay per view of the year to get. It's always fun to analyze the chances of the bigger stars, and my annual ritual is to hang out at a friend's since he has a 52 in. flat screen and we always bet on the winners and losers.

They're better off. At least now the WWE can market the guys who are their true stars, instead of relying on old "star power".

I think a lot of you guys have the character wrong. Batman should still seek justice while striking fear into criminals, even though he is an old man. His mission, ever since he began it when he was a young boy, has always been an uphill battle and is literally impossible and neverending, something Bruce knows full well yet still goes on. A great ending to the Bruce Wayne/Batman saga would be for Bruce (I'd say in his late 50s)to instill the persona of "Batman" in Tim Drake, who more realistically can resume Bruce's mission as Batman, a seasoned crime fighting veteran and detective in his own right. Bruce begins to give his final lesson to Tim and tells him that he will be the next Batman. This doesn't sit too well with Dick Grayson, who always thought that he would take up the mantle (flashback: Knightfall-Knightquest when Grayson was infuriated because Bruce chose Valley as Batman). Bruce, knowing full well that Dick was always very independent and was meant to be his own myth, hands his mantle over to Drake, a man who is more like Bruce and still pursues his quest for justice and his obsession of being the greatest detective (a mantle Bruce holds). Grayson thus alienates himself from the trio, and begins taking his anger out harshly on criminals, even having the police force and media scrutinizing him. Grayson, accidentally or not, nearly kills a petty criminal who committs a heinous crime, and Bruce (still Batman) takes it upon himself to stop Nightwing. In the ensuing confrontation, the younger, stronger, and more agile Grayson *barely* edges out a victory over his mentor. However, Dick uses villain-like methods to defeat Bruce, and in a fit of rage spurred by jealousy, Dick actually incapacitates Bruce, putting him into a coma. The next Batman-in-waiting, Drake, steps in and lays the smackdown on Grayson, and brings him to justice. Barely alive, Bruce then officially hands the reigns to Tim and stays at the Wayne Manor as a mentor and ally to the new Batman.

Other than Claremont and Byrne's run on the X-Men, I think the X-Men franchise is the most overrated one in recent history (with the exception of Cable).

They gotta change something in the rumble
Austin3164life replied to Youth N Asia's topic in The WWE Folder
They could solve the problem by having a 30 second time limit outside of the ring. If you are caught outside, no matter if you are there voluntarily or not, you're eliminated. It cuts down on overused and abused "heelish" acts where they purposely slide under the ropes to leave or dwell outside.
