  1. My gamecube games all work fine on wii. And with the 360, it isn't a situation where nearly all the games were working and they revised the hardware. PS2 games were working from the beginning, then Sony says "ok, we're going to be cheap here and yank out some of the crucial PS2 hardware in favor of emulation."
  2. I do. Along with when WWE was watchable.
  3. Mortal Kombat 2 has been announced as a download coming soon from the PSN. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3157522 I assume it's basically a port of the Playstation version. There's the usual unwanted opinion of the 1up editor there in the news article, Anya, so feel free to rant on it.
  4. $100, actually. At least that's what EB/Gamestop are offering now. That's now, at least. Not necessarily 6 months from now when I presume the gimped ones hit the US/Japan markets. My point is that Sony's really sacrificing the overall value of the console. The price is nearly double the PS2's, and anything to soften that really helps. Plus, let's hypothesize that in the next year or so that a lot of PS2s crap out (hypothetically--it's not like PS2s are known to do that, or anything). A PS3 with basically all of that system's functionality and then some would be more attractive than a PS3 with the ability to play (maybe) half of the games you already have. The importance in the grand scheme of things is questionable, but I think it's hardly negligible like you're implying. I, personally, think it really sucks. If this switchover led to a 400 dollar PS3, that would be great, but I'm not seeing it happen.
  5. Do you know many people who have a PS1 sitting around, incidentally? I know that I traded in my PS1 to soften the blow of the PS2's cost--and that wasn't even nearly as expensive as PS3.
  6. It's come to the the point that we have to finance game systems? I think I'll put away money out of each paycheck into a shoe box to finance my eventual 360 purchase.
  7. Raza, when you post in this folder, do you post a lot of deliberately sarcastic things? Because your posts often seem to be either deeply sarcastic, sort of silly, and sometimes flat out insane and incomprehensible. I'm just asking this as a serious question. I don't really "get" you.
  8. No comments yet about PS3's new backward compatibility issues? The backward compatibility for PS2 titles is going to be gimped in the Europe PS3s. The emotion engine shall be yanked, and instead the system will have 360-level compatibility with "select" titles. [urll=http://kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/scee-responds-to-backward-compatability-239632.php]Don't worry, it will still have blu-ray, cell, and all the other wonderful features you expect of the PS3.[/url] So, will our PS3s lose the compatibility they enjoy now? You bet your BUTT they will. Or in other words, "yeah, kiss it goodbye. We just haven't decided on when, yet." -- Ken Kutaragi last year. Hey, another broken promise!
  9. http://www.screwattack.com/ -- on the main page there is a fan-submitted tribute video to Shantae, a little-known Game Boy Color game of the non-linear platformer/action/RPG variety. Lame jokes aside, it's a really good game. Kind of like if Castlevania 2/Zelda 2 were more fun instead of being flat out annoying like they are.
  10. It can and it has. Tekken Advance. You can argue that a *good* Tekken hasn't gone to a non-Sony system, though. Sony doesn't own Namco--I think it's more because the arcade games basically run off Sony hardware than anything else. Don't forget that Soul Calibur has been on non-Sony systems already, though.
  11. Dark Resurrection adds much more than a playable boss. It's much less than 60 dollars. It's a cheap Playstation Store download.
  12. You still play No Mercy because it's still the best wrestling game to come out in the US. To this day the highest praise a wrestling came can get is that it's "a lot like No Mercy." Shame the Smackdown games still absolutely suck compared to No Mercy, even with online play, new moves, updated rosters, new match types, etc. However, that's the exception, not the rule. Can you honestly say that there are many other genres that haven't taken huge steps forward since the PS1/Saturn/N64 days? What the new systems should provide, besides better graphics and sound, is gameplay that can't be done on the current systems. Assassin's Creed, with it's "social stealth" mechanics, is a good example. Oblivion, with its massive, organic world is another example.

Puzzle Bobble = Bust a Move, that puzzle game where you shoot colored bubbles and try to knock them off the the ceiling. Bubble Bobble = the game where you're the little dino(s) that trap enemies in bubbles, then hit them to turn them into food. I have it for NES. Very fun game.

LOL We're lucky to even know when new Nintendo games come out. This one was actually announced by Nintendo, but most of the time it's based on rumors, new ESRB listings, and the like.
  16. I honestly should know a little bit more, considering I'll be troubleshooting the damn OS. Sadly, I'll get trained on it about a week after it actually comes out.

Ocarina of Time will be available this coming Monday to North American Wii owners on Virtual Console, for the usual 1000 Wii Points. Pretty decent value, considering what the collector's versions run, but if you own the game 5 times over like I do, it's just a bit superfluous. Although lack of rumble sucks.

    Xbox 360

Crackdown is da bomb. **** a Halo 3 beta. I've yet to pull the trigger on a 360 purchase, but I think it's a very good reason to.
  19. New RE movie trailer. http://www.destructoid.com/resident-evil-e...ler-29970.phtml I shall call it Mad Maxine: Beyond Chunderdome. Absolute shittiness confirmed.

Pretty much all of the info anyone outside of Nintendo knows on Super Paper Mario: http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=789531...cUserId=1002415 I'm definitely going to buy it, but I was sold on it back when it was a GC game. EDIT: It was pulled, apparently. It is now a dead link.

As 3D beat 'em ups, go, they were at the top of the heap IMO. Which is still only decent. So, yes and no, depending on if you want to split hairs.
  22. http://www.animelyrics.com/game/sonicadventure2 I sometimes hear the Pumpkin Hill theme in my nightmares.
  23. This sooong is in the puuublic domain That's whyyy we used it twiiiice.
  24. Anyone know how much trade in credit a GBA SP will net on its own, as in not with any sort of special offer?
  25. I didn't mind the fetch quests in SA1. They took like a minute or two per level. In SA2, your emerald detector would only find them in a random, arbitrary order. You could have started the level 5 feet away from an emerald, but you'd never know it until it was that shard's "turn" to be detected. What a stupid design decision.
