Which wasn't by me, that alleged "biggest Nintendo fanboy on this board." Sure, and they made a fake lawsuit as a cover up.

What's sales for TP Wii + TP GC? I'd imagine lots of people if they couldn't give the Zelda love to the console they wanted (or weren't sold on one yet), they could give it to the one they were with.

For Sony, it was mostly an industry-wide blue laser diode shortage that was going on for months before production of PS3s began (and continues to some extent today), and Ebay scalpers. For Nintendo, it was either a gross underestimation of demand, or deliberate underproduction to keep Wii from being tagged with the "consolation prize console" stigma. Having shelves filled with consoles at Christmastime looks bad. Look how much Sony is getting made fun of right now for consoles actually staying on shelves. Anya theorized, since Nintendo is pure evil of course, that a million or so Wiis were sitting in warehouses, waiting to be shipped, but held back. The Wii strap fiasco proves that is untrue. All of the Wiis shipped from about the first few weeks of December onward have thick Wiimote straps. Clearly Nintendo sold all they produced prior to that. 360 shortages were apparently a combination of underestimating demand, heavy purchases from Ebay scalpers, and (at least with speciality retailers) utterly ridiculous lack of communication with retailers. Anyone who hit a Gamestop/EB in late '05/early '06 probably can recall a pimple behind the counter pressing customers to preorder on the 2nd/3rd/4th shipment, which God Only Knew when they would come. Hence why almost nobody offered preorders on more than the first shipments this time. However, expect from this point on for console launches to be ruined by ****heads buying consoles just to resell at inflated prices on Ebay.

They've done similar releases already, actually, but I still think you're right.
-
I don't think Sony ever committed to any date or month. They just said "soon."

Except when I said "microtransactions," that is is exactly what was implied. Not a "transaction" where the exchange is done there, fin. Rather when you pay tiny increments which the developer tries to milk out of you. And basically, as far as the old game pricing goes, Sony's prices kick the everloving hell out of both XBLA's and VC's. Of course, there's that whole "need a PSP" and "the console costs way more" thing, but all other things equal... Yes, because she is the only one. I was countering your anecdotal evidence with another. Even xbox fanboys admit the 90 day thing was a mistake and it was good for MS to take care of it. Oh...I see what you did there. Bolding "ass" in "assumption." U teh funnay and clevR. See me bitch about Virtual Console (many times if you keep scrolling through there), and a really stupid, presumptuous post on the Nintendo site: http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...t&p=2389187 So yet again, you're wrong. Oh, and the recent avatars were kind of an answer to Anya's creepy PS3 baby av, and was kind of an in-joke between us, of the constant posts on boards on OMG IF YOU PLAY THE WII YOU WILL LOVE IT SENIOR CITIZENS ALL WILL BUY ONE! Now I have a WiiKitty, because I like kitties. Do you hate kitties? Do you also hate America? A few examples please? Which are null because everyone does it from time to time. Sometimes, because of the nature of the situation, the news' link post, etc. not all of the information is known. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fanboy 1. fanboy A passionate fan of various elements of geek culture (e.g. sci-fi, comics, Star Wars, video games, anime, hobbits, Magic: the Gathering, etc.), but who lets his passion override social graces. I was saying what disappointed me about PS3, with my 360 gripes being some things unlikely to change soon, if ever. I can rag on the consoles all I want. It's a message board. You're feeling some desperate need to DEFEND the console with the manners of a chimp because by me attacking the console, you feel I'm attacking you. That's fanboyism. If you have a problem with it, kindly go to hell. I hate the 360 game library, too. Seriously? The size? I'd think it would be the terrible button layout and the miniscule d-pad size. I thought the size and feel were just fine, and my hands aren't small.

Lame. Translation: Where's the Tekken?
-
If you're almost willing to buy a PS3 to play VF5, you should be more than willing to buy a PS3 to play T5:DR. Could be waiting to see how that Tekken 6 for 360 rumor pans out. Of course, it could be DMC4 part deux, where everybody said it was happening but there's been no new evidence or any confirmation.

Game of the Year winner console.: Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Portable: New Super Mario Bros. PC: Oblivion.

Selling what? Right. Not "downloadable content" that's in the damn game already. I have no problem with multiplayer maps for a FPS, because that is new, original content that the developers sunk time and money into. As opposed to something built into the game already that they're making you pay for. I've complained about VC pricing myself--it is too high, but that's not the discussion here is it? Microsoft extending the warranty to a full year because there were so damn many out of warranty repairs proof enough for you? That happened with Sony. Then they got sued. MS decided they didn't want the same thing to happen to them. Ask Anya about her launch console. And the replacement console she got. So the broken 360s are user error, right? I love those assumptions. I say I have issues with the CONSOLE and you're flinging insults directed at ME. Who is the fanboy here?
-
No, not yet. Sony is trying to push those PSPs.
-
I'm suprised they haven't--it isn't like Europe hates the 360. It's doing very well there.
-
For Anya at least, Tekken 5 HD is at least a compelling reason to get the system--something both 360 and PS3 are lacking for me. I'm glad she enjoys it. The more I hear about 360, the more my brief Wii60 fervor has fizzled out. I can expect 360 to get many of the same games as PS3, looking virtually identical, but aside from that the exclusives are space marine-invested, first-person-shooty things. For 60 bucks. And microtransactions out the ass. And a heavy chance that the thing will crap out in a few months. Lots of noise. $60 games. etc, etc. If I could get a PS3 right now for 300-400 bucks, and PS1 game downloads didn't require me to own a PSP to use them, and the controller wasn't the absolute worst out of the big 3, I'd strongly consider it. However, it isn't, they do, and it is. I'm just not e for next gen.

You forget about DBZ!... Seriously, though--Wii doesn't have a stellar fighter. When it does get one (presumably not until SSBB), it's going to be a button pressy thing, too.

According to IGN, Konami cancelled a bunch of stuff: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/754/754307p1.html Not new Action Adventure Game 2 *and* Role Playing Game! Noooo!

aka the game that sends Anya into long geekgasms

Quick question about XBox Live Arcade games...

I'd rather the Wii get an update for Mii creation rather than have to buy a game for it.

The official company line is that the new xbox is something that they're "researching" and isn't anything resembling a finished product yet. Which could be just BS PR speak for "will be announced a few months from now at the latest." MS patently denied any plans in a larger hard drive, but considering the expected size of GTAIV DLC, I expect they'll appear in time for that. Companies always stammer, lie, and cover up information about upcoming products when that info is leaked.

The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread

Is there a "clean pause" in the Gamecube version? You know, a real pause and not just go to the submenu/item list? -
The "cheap" 360 has the hidden cost of a memory card, which runs 50-60 bucks, and without the hard drive it has no capability of playing xbox games. There's a good reason it's called a Tard Pack. It's 100 bucks cheaper, but the value is awful. PS3's backwards compatibility kind of sucks next to PS2 (rumbleless games all, less games work, and certain key PS2 games look like ass), but at least you play them on either SKU. The "new" 360 has a bunch of extra holes in it, but honestly I don't think it will matter save for tech geeks. We're still a ways away from those "cooler running" processors still, right? Supposedly late '07 on that, from what I heard.
-
No, it was always billed at $199, hence the BS Sony price comparison charts saying the 360 costs more in the long run.
-
Yeah, for the moment. KH3 on Wii is less exciting than the possibility of KH + Nintendo worlds, though.
-
Well, it isn't confirmed yet..and you're probably looking at 2008 for it at the earliest.
